the trimmer is okay. the more powerful ones with big thick string eat the wood right off a fence or lawn shed. and the tap and go spools never work. fiskars makes some long handled scissor trimmers that work best around wood fences and buildings.

The zero G hose. If you are somebody who uses a shut off valve at the end of the hose, or if the nozzle has a shut off valve, after about 2 months that hose will catastrophically fail and burst wide open. We've had 2 of them, both did the same thing in the same amount of time

I have a zero G hose! I didn't even know it was an as-seen-on-tv product, I just bought it at Lowes about a year ago. It's a great hose (so far after one year of usual suburban use). Best part is it's really lightweight and when you turn off the pressure it collapses into basically a long strip of fabric so it's really easy to gather together and throw back on the hook when you're done with it.

I actually did something like this with a garden hose. With my parent's permission of course. I had a bad water leak between the valve at the road and my house (700 feet).

After I got a $160 water bill, I shut off the valve at the road and the main valve inside my house and connected about 200 feet of garden hoses together. I connected one to the outside spigot on the rear of parent's hose, ran the hoses up the hill and connected the other end to the outside spigot on the front of my house. I had to rig up a male to female adapter from parts from a hardware store in order to connect the hose to my spigot. This allowed me to back feed my house.

Luckily this was in the summer so I didn't have to worry about the hose freezing and busting. This got me by for a week until I could get the leak repaired.

The downside was I had less than half water pressure, the water smelled like rubber and if I wanted cool water, I'd have to run the tap for about a minute to purge out any hot water that had been heated by the sun. I didn't drink the water but I was at least able to shower, wash cloths and dishes.

Could do same thing with an battery drill, a special fitting to attach zip ties ( maybe larger heavy duty zip ties), duct taping a long pole , and zip tying the drill on.... forward.

  • MrCJBG
    MrCJBG 15 days ago

I don't think you did a good test on the hats. The heat reflection was better definitely, but you needed to test the value of heat under the hat, if there was a heat source like a head inside the hat, as the wicking / evaporation cooling would only be effective if it was in contact with the skin. You could test this by also just wetting the regular hat.

they didnt take into account a variable for the hat. (not saying it wouldve made a difference or anything but for testing purposes) our heads give off heat and that variable wasnt taken into account for the hats. since the tv product has holes, it stands to reason that it wouldnt get as cool as a hat completely covered in foil. but the hat is meant to be breathable to help not trap the heat a persons head gives off so i just feel like it might be cooler than what their tests produced. And since the tin hat cant breathe it would just become a sauna at some point, whereas the product hat has a way to dispell that excess heat buildup.

Plug-in electric trimmers actually work rather well. Battery-powered electric trimmers are not going to work anywhere near as well due to the battery limitation determining how much power the trimmer can have. I've found with a plug-in electric trimmer, it's great if you have an extra long extension cord. I have a 100ft heavy duty extension cord which lets me get to 99% of my property. Plenty of power as well and a lot quieter. However, I have a gas trimmer too, which is very portable. Can't exactly use an electric trimmer at a site without electricity and the battery-powered electric trimmers always suck due to battery limitations.

Weed wacker is crap, the hose will get punctured on rocker panels of car and sharp edges plus it will get a bubble and burst if you use an attachment that has an off valve, the lights are junk and battery powered lights in general either suck or dont last very long unless they are industrial lithium ion high voltage with interchangeable batteries, and the hat speaks for itself...waste of money...go inside when you get hot lol
