I don't get it. In ANGELS IN AMERICA Roy Cohen is in the hospital dying of aids. In addition to not looking like him, Nathan, a sweet man with a sweet demeanor, is the last person I would pick to play a wasting away dying man. Do they have body suits to mimic anorexia?

Parker: I saw that but hey he's an actor. He looked more like F Lee than Cohn who always looked like a walking cadaver even before aids. Cohn could have had a great career playing zombies in Hollywood. THE WALKING DEAD starring Roy COHN! LOL

Roy Cohn, Lying King Trump’s 1980’s ex-lawyer when 45 was already TBTF, too big to fail, b4 it became fashionable in the 2008 Bush Recession. Obama was greeted w 800,000 job loses. That & 2 occupations made Cheney predict that any1 following him & Bush would be a 1 term President. What greeted Trump? 8 yrs of uptick Obama economy which 45 made sound like a Mad Max movie in his Inaugural speech for the benefit of evangelicals, Fox News & RT audiences. Quoting Bush, “that was some weird shit.”

Who would have thought, Roy Cohn is linked to Republican Senator Joseph McCarthy and also Donald Trump as Trump's Mentor. Roy Cohn also had links with Roger Stone. Roy Cohn's political poison spread far and wide. McCarthy, a born liar and conspiracy theorist is the proto-Republican of what we see today in the Republican Party.

Fun Fact: when he was dying of aids, trump gave him a pair of diamond cuff links which later turned out to be cubic zirconia!
    True story, classic trump.

    • Sparklemotion101
      Sparklemotion101 7 месяцев назад +1

Except, it didn't happen when he was dying of Aids. Trump dropped Cohn like a wife over 50 when Cohn got sick. He never visited Cohn in the hospital or otherwise.
No, Trump had given Cohn cufflinks in a Bulgari box while Cohn was healthy and Trump was benefitting from his patronage. Cohn was thrilled (and touched) by the gift - he considered Trump the son he never had, and the cufflinks were his prized possession. Cohn left them to his lover when he died. After receiving them, the lover had them appraised; turns out, he cardboard "Bulgari" box was worth more than the cufflinks themselves, which were fake gold and Czs.
Another "fun fact": Before Cohn got sick, n the early 80s, he had a "friend" (really an ex-lover) who was dying of Aids and needed a place to stay. Cohn called Trump, his rich buddy with all the hotel connections, and asked if he could please help him out by giving a hotel room to his friend who was dying (of "cancer") and having trouble with his apartment.
Trump said, "no problem! Don't worry about a thing. I'll take care of it!" and found a room for the guy at the Barbizon Plaza Hotel where Trump had recently signed a management contract (it's now called the Trump Parc Hotel). The "friend" moved in, and stayed there until he transferred to the hospital where he died.
One month after Cohn's sick "friend" moved out of the Barbizon Plaza, bills for the room started arriving at Roy Cohn's apartment. Trump has always been a disloyal piece of shit.

We've just got to change our culture's sartorial requirements for males. Stuffing your short, fat physique into a tightly tailored suit and shirt, and wrapping a strip of colored material around your neck just EMPHASIZES how out of shape you've become. It makes you look ridiculous and it's obviously extremely uncomfortable. Lane simply squirmed in that chair for 11 minutes adjusting his clothing to hide his flab. He would have been much more at ease and look a hell of lot better in some sort of caftan or other loose, flowing garment, fashioned out of fabulous silk or other exotic fabric.
There are a few men - Obama, for example, and even Colbert - that do look great in a well tailored suit. But why wear what everyone else is wearing? What are you? A man... or a penguin?

"Angels in America" is an absolute masterpiece. I auditioned for a production of it in college and, even if I hadn't needed to read the script quickly in preparation, I still probably would have finished it in the two days I read it. I couldn't put it down. One of the most riveting, emotional plays ever written.
Also, I didn't know that Cohn actually tutored Trump; I thought the title of this video was a joke. Knowing it's true makes a lot of sense, and is terrifying.

This is so good!! Thank you!
'“Angels in America” at its heart is about both the the necessity and inevitability of change.
It portrays change as both inevitable - the world always spins forward - and fundamental to being alive. It’s what living things do.
And then it ends with a very specific demand for change.
Basically, I think what’s it’s saying about change is that in the face of that inevitability and necessity, we have a choice. We can try to resist change with all our might - the way the angels do, or Reagan did, or Trump is doing right now - but the consequences of that will be catastrophic.
Or we can engage in the difficult and painful work of trying to change for the better.
And the play finds hope that change for the better is actually possible.”
~ Isaac Butler, quoted by Nathan Lane
