Really awesome video, gave me a very nice intro to how these companies work. I have just one suggestion, which is to write out #s / figures when saying each company has X number of planes, Y number of routes, etc. The visual will definitely help stick better, thanks!

Just because a FedEx aircraft sits for a long period of time on the ground doesn't mean it is not utilized. They do aircraft maintenance, ground crew training and other stuff on the aircraft when the plane is away from Memphis.

4:44 Wait... so why did FedEX send an order of mine from Union, NJ - to Newark, NJ - to Memphis, TN - back to Philadelphia, PA - then to me in Delaware, when the distance between New Jersey and Delaware is like, at most, an hour away?

This video is not exaggerating anything. i used to work at the central Texas hub for FedEx and it's so long it takes me a good 2 minutes to walk to my assigned loading bay. They ship an INSANE number of packages in just two hours. And no, we don't use cranes or mechanical equipment other than a conveyor belt. It's just old fashioned muscle power. A few things: pack your stuff and make sure it's well cushioned. FedEx employees are constantly under pressure to move the cargo and meet their deadline. They can't be gentle with the boxes. It simply is not reality. If you buy from Amazon, they use the worst, flimsiest boxes and the most pathetic "packing tape" imaginable. I've lost count how many times their boxes pop open and delay me because I have to retape the crappy, box. And they do not care about the weight: Amazon will pack even a 30-lb item in a box that clearly cannot support the weight. Sometimes, I pick up the box and the bottom falls out!
Also, try to center your load if it's small. This protects it from the weight of other boxes. We have to stack from the bottom of the trailer clear to the ceiling. Then comes the biggest nightmare: car parts. If you got your package on the trailer first, I guarantee you, you will have the weight of 10' of boxes AND a Ford truck bumper on top of it. Make sure your box can take some abuse. Sorry, can't do anything if Amazon picks a crappy box for your $500 electronics. Which is why I don't buy electronics from them any more! LOL.
