Capturing carbon, once a fringe idea, may be key to fighting climate change

  • Published on Apr 20, 2019
  • Monday marks the 49th Earth Day. Despite decades of warnings from climate scientists, the world is still struggling to cut CO2 emissions, the main driver of climate change. Now, a handful of researchers and private companies are trying to fill in some of the gaps with what were once considered fringe ideas. Brook Silva-Braga reports.

i use ecosia as my search engine as they donate 80% of their profits to plant trees around the world over 63 million trees planted so far and planting one tree per second if they got as big as google they would be planting 1,500 trees PER SECOND

To everyone saying plant more trees: We've past the threshold where planting trees alone would be sufficent enough to stop climate change. That doesnt mean we should stop planting trees it means we are forced to think outside the box. Our planet is dieing fast, the trees can not work quick enough to save our skins and now our brightest minds will have to come up with a solution. pray to your god, if you dont have one cross your fingers because this may be our last hope for a future on this planet..

Carbon capture might capture has to be careful it doesn't take too much carbon atmosphere from the earth we might be able to grow crops and might make live on earth impossible don't go too far with carbon don't take it all away we need some of it

Trying to take a paltry amount out at the same time gigatons are being spewed in? Yeah, right. Last year, 2018, after more than 30 years of IPCC warnings and hand wringing, a record amount emitted. As he mentioned in the video, the IPCC assumes humanity will wake up at some stage and implement some kind of miraculous, massive, world-wide , multi-trillion dollar carbon capture crash-program in time to avert catastrophe. Ha..ha..ha. Not gonna happen. Anyone waiting for some sort of seminal climate change event that is going to galvanize the world’s leaders into action will be tragically disappointed.Politicians, to get votes, do what they think most of their constituents want, and there are just far too many stupid people. If seeing the world’s coral reefs dying, its glaciers disappearing, permafrost melting, and the steady uptick in extreme weather and wildfire events does not spur them to action, it is much too late to hope that any single event will ever do so. Our grandchildren are so doomed. Extreme weather events will slowly, incrementally, inexorably ramp up, that's what science tells us. In the second half of the century, billions are going to starve to death and mass extinction of what's left of the animal kingdom. It's going to be ghastly. .

There is nothing unusual or wrong with Earth’s current average temperatures, which are constantly going up and down because our weather is constantly being affected by an almost infinite number of natural variables. Natural drivers of Earth temperatures include solar output levels, total planetary atmospheric density and pressure, the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, cycles of deep ocean currents, and cycles of the Moon’s gravitational pull on ocean water. The idea that CO2 controls Earth temperatures is not supported by the ancient ice core records or by measured temperatures recorded since the Industrial Revolution.
The multi-billion dollar climate fear industry continues today because it is such a big money maker for scientists, literally thousands of green scam businesses, professional environmentalists, the media, and even universities seeking government research grants. Whipping up climate hysteria has been a powerful tool for politicians who want government committees to run the world, not free markets and authentic science. Countless American politicians have had their picture taken in front of giant industrial windmills, which by their proven environmental and economic track record are monuments to the stupidity of man, not a solution to any human problem. Store it for when the earth is heading for an ice age from too low of CO2, then put it on the road, get methane from under the melting Permafrost in the Arctic, there is 70 Trillion tons we don't want in the atmosphere, it's 23 times as bad as CO2.
We need a freeze field to drop over the methane bombs to keep it frozen for now until we figure out how to safely remove it.

The volcano erupted several times during the Holocene, the largest eruption took place in the year 1600. The 1600 eruption was the largest historical eruption in South America, measuring 6 on the Volcanic Explosivity Index. It occurred on the 19th February and continued with a series of events into March. Witnessed by the people of the city of Arequipa, its impact in the region was severe, wiping out vegetation and burying the surroundings with 2 metres (6 ft 7 in) of volcanic rock; it also damaged infrastructure and economic resources. The eruption had significant effects on Earth's climate, decreasing temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere, causing floods, famines and cold waves in numerous places, and depositing several million tons of acid. The climate disruption caused social upheaval in many countries such as Russia and may have played a role in the onset of the Little Ice Age.

Funny how a barely 100 years worth of record keeping based temperature tracking is a science of doom. And besides isn't Co2 a a by product of decay? And wouldn't a combination of better forest management (preventing huge and devastating forest fires), and increasing the amount of alternative energy sources a simple enough solution (nuclear, natural Gas, solar and wind)? Just makes sense to use less coal anyway?

Direct Air Capture (DAC), coupled with Air-To-Fuels (ATF) technologies from companies such as Canada's Carbon Engineering, represent the kind of technological solutions to climate change that make sense and should be broadly implemented as quickly as possible.
Converting the personal transportation sector to electric vehicles addresses a minority fraction of the global greenhouse gas problem. It would also cost a projected $50 trillion! Instead, liquid fuels that are chemically identical to their fossil fuel cousins, essentially transform conventional vehicles into carbon neutral forms of transportation upon first use. ATF-derived liquid fuels also integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure and extend to every use (buses, trucks, farm and industrial equipment, even airplanes and power generation)!
Combined with power generation from renewable sources (solar, wind, hydro/tidal, geothermal, etc.) and "green nuclear power" plants based Molten Salt Reactor designs, it is possible to avert a complete climate breakdown. But we have to act. And do so quickly!

Climate change caused by CO2 gas is not a valid point, as long as the governments sprays chem-trails now for 20 plus years with aluminum and other metals making the land highly flammable. and have been weaponizing the weather, and have built directed energy weapons (DEW's) for decades and governments like the US has the power to use them covertly on unsuspecting people in California and elsewhere!
