A movie that makes a lot of money doesn't mean it's good.

This movie was poorly written, poorly directed, poorly edited, and rushed. Scarlet Witch is a much better character and they should have used her instead of Captain Marvel going foreward. An awful lot of controversy, and negative views for a movie supposedly so popular. Wonder Woman made less money but has no controversy or negative views to speak of. Everybody loved it. Captain Marvel was never challenged in this movie, was never in any danger, isn't relatable, but is snarky and arrogant. She didn't have to learn how to use her power, she just somehow knows how to use all of it. The Nick Fury eye scene was such a stupid idea and a kick in the nuts to the Nick Fury character and the audience. This movie could have been much better. I don't think Brie Larsens wooden acting is her fault, I think the directors wanted her to do it like that, thinking it made her look like a strong woman warrior. See my earlier point about bad directing. You can see in Endgame where she was cut out from how much she was initially in it, because of all the backlash from this hot mess. It mostly coasted along with the momentum of the earlier marvel movies, it was the last movie before Endgame so everyone was going to see it so they didn't miss anything no matter how bad it was. It had a couple of vocal champions (bots) but almost no real people you talk to liked it. I bet you any money you want that the sequel has new writers and a new director. Spend your money on Shazam! instead, it is a much better movie. Befor the trolls come out, big box office numbers don't mean quality. Hollywood churns out tons of blockbusters that are terrible movies and many good movies that make little money.

Wrong title. Your picks are either epic, funny or touching.
You should name it "Best Moments" cause Fury's eye or the reunion with Maria are not epic, one is funny, the other is moving. NOT EPIC.

Sophia Will you can have an opinion...but that opinion can be misinformed. And when it is, someone will eventually dismantle it using the correct information.
That’s the case here. You can dislike whomever you want, but when the reasons are either arbitrary or fabricated then they hold no weight or validity.

I'm a woman and I also don't like CM (the character and the movie). I guess I'm sexist too in spite of the fact that I love plenty of other female characters from Marvel, such as Nat, Gamora, Nebula, Okoye, Wanda and even Hela!

    • Christopher Henry
      Christopher Henry Month ago

@Monika Sienkiewicz So I read your entire comment. So let's take this bit by bit.
      1) " I have 3 sister and 2 sisters in law, few girl/boy friends."
This is irrelevant. Most people who have anti-female tendencies say the same thing and may, in fact, have close female relationships. It has nothing to do with how they view the systemic and societal effect on females in general. Those are separate issues. The "I love women" rebuttal is not a rebuttal. You can love something, and yet promote the idea that their place in society is systemically lower or less equal, or in fact enable actions and policies that help perpetuate this. I can go into greater detail for you in another post, or you can do your own research (which you claim to already do it).
      2) "I watch many videos - on the left, on the right, center, liberal "
Perhaps the videos you are watching are misinforming you. For example, down lower in another paragraph, you say things that are completely inaccurate about Brie Larson. Which tells me that you never actually researched what she ACTUALLY said, but you watched videos or read posts from people who twisted and paraphrased what she said. Because her true statement was actually not a big deal and fairly innocuous. (See point number 7)
      3) It's fine to not connect with her character. I didn't either. But that has to do with Marvel. The script was rushed and even her Endgame scenes were filmed before her actual movie. There were definitely issues with production. But that has nothing to do with Brie Larson. She doesn't call those shots. Those decisions are made well above her paygrade.
      4) "Her strength makes everyone crash, worse in a conversation in a circle, where you have to present your arguments and win them"
This sentence makes no sense...even re-reading it a few times. I'd consider rewording it if I were you.
Regardless will I concede that as it stands now, Captain Rogers is written as a far more inspirational hero? Sure. He's also been developed far more. He didn't have amnesia in his film, this needing the question, "Who is this person?" That question still hasn't been fully answered about Captain Marvel and hopefully will be developed more. That was always the point though about Steve. It's about who he is. Which is great, and I'll concede that.
However, you are being disingenuous if you think that the backlash against Captain Marvel has to do with this misstep in her character. If it were, I'd say nothing, because it's a fair criticism. But it's not the reason behind it. The Rotten Tomato bombing happened before anyone even saw the movie. That's evidence right there. This was about alt-right fanboys (and girls) disliking her statement and retaliating, then perpetuating a lie. Period.
      5. Her omnipotence. Again, this is something that a few characters in comic lore face. Superman being the number 1 example that comes to mind. Will they run into this challenge with Captain Marvel? Probably. But again, this was a decision that Kevin Feige made. But this is hardly out of left field. In Marvel, there are many characters who are overpowered and no one bats an eye. Thor, Sentry, etc. But they did this for a woman in the MCU, and people reacted. That's telling of the motivation. And what makes it nonsense is that Feige has been changing power sets since the MCU began and no one has cared. Cap is more powerful in the movies than in the comics. Wanda and Vision's origins are completely different than in the comics. Even Thor is handled differently. It's Feige's universe if he wants to change it, he can. He made a decision to make her the token OP character. Every universe has one. Deal with it. Cuz they will have to, writing-wise.
      6) The motorcycle guy. I think you missed the point of this movie. Furthermore, if you don't see the problem with what the guy did in the deleted scene, then I can't help you. The underlying message of the movie is that women are taught that their emotions are weaknesses and that men attempt to control these as an effort to control them. Now you may be against this messaging due to political ideology (which you never revealed but seems obvious), but that's a societal problem that the movie is addressing. If you don't like it, turn it off. But it's not "forcing it down your throat". The movie is taking a stance to say that this behavior is wrong. So if you're advocating that this behavior is ok...well that's something to examine in your own conscience. Also....showing feelings for Yon-Rogg? He killed her mentor and countless other people. He stole her from her home and used her, and is attempting a mass genocide of an entire species. Why would she have remorse for fighting him? I think you missed a lot in this movie, or you're looking at it through an odd lens. She did let him off the hook by letting him go back alive with a message, which considering he's responsible for murdering countless people...was a fairer punishment than he deserved.
      7) Brie Larson. This is where you go off the rails. Brie Larson never said anything bad about white men. She said, and I quote.
""About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male. So, I spoke to Dr Stacy Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who put together a study to confirm that. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of colour, it sounded like across the board they weren’t getting the same opportunities as others. When I talked to the facilities that weren’t providing it, they all had different excuses. What I’m looking for is to bring more seats up to the table. No one is getting their chair taken away. There’s not less seats at the table, there’s just more seats at the table, Am I saying I hate white dudes? No, I am not. What I am saying is, if you make a movie that is a love letter to women of color, there is an insanely low chance a woman of color will have a chance to see your movie and review your movie."
Oh no...what a monster she is (eye roll)
Not only is there anything wrong with this statement, but if you think that there are men out there who don't have a problem with strong women....then the kindest I can say to you're not paying attention.
You've made more than a few statements about "feminism" in a disparaging way. Feminism is merely the desire for the playing ground to be equal between men and women in terms of economic, societal and systemic status. The fact that you regard that principle as something problematic means that your position is the opposite. And if your position is the opposite, that's only one thing by definition.

It seems that I'm the only one in the comments that found some enjoyment from it and at least I didn't hate it before it came out like everyone who says that bc the hero is female no not that person. It's not a perfect movie, Brie Larson's trying it didn't make sense at times but it's still an entertaining watch honestly I thought it was better than last years Venom and more watchable.

The most epic moment is when Carol Denver's was dabbing like 20 times before their plane crashes.I couldn't stop laughing. Most unintentionally funny movie I've seen in a while. So bad that it's good.Actually no it's amazingly boring with a terrible performance by Brie Larson. But,hey her bad acting and horrible line deliveries make the movie better. And,the Photoshop cat.
