I didn't have a Jewish upbringing, but after witnessing blatant discrepancies in my Christian Baptist faith, a decision was made to leave the religion. All the organizations and protests are just a manifestation of sexism present in that form of Judaism, why not address that?

  • where are you going? where are we going?

so many ancient cutoms are still practiced and forced in the 21st centry because they were mixed with religious practices and even now most people with a faith are afraid of challenging them even though the customs are intrinsically discriminatory and have no value and relevance in the 21st centry.
That is one of the reasons I dropped my religion.

So a white woman in America is being held back by her own beliefs? Religious law is not legal law. She could marry anytime. She though wants a Jewish man because they want to keep the blood pure? No? 😒

It's sad with religious traditions dating back to the STONE AGE is still in effect in the MODERN AGE. All religions should get rid of the bs traditions and make life simple for everyone. Happy she's got her "FINAL PAPERS" to finalize her divorce

4:36 “There’s two sides to every story” What the heck does that mean? Because one side no longer wants to be in the marriage. What a strange mentality wanting to control women. I’m no longer religious but I commend the younger generation in the religion for standing up for what’s right.

Public shame by your own community is the most powerful pressure you can have. If everyone knows your wrongs then they can influence you to change.

Wait, she said she’s not Jewish, so why does she care if she has the Jewish divorce paper? Wouldn’t she only need that if she was Jewish and wanted to marry another Jewish person? 🤔 just curious since I’ve never heard of this practice and don’t know much about Judaism..I would think that the civil divorce is all she needs?

  • Lizzy Borden

Why would you want to force someone to stay married to you? The religion has control of her not her ex husband. Stop being a slave to it. Putting your life on hold for a piece of paper while he moves on is just dumb.

  • 100101010 01010100010

Why would she need a "Get", she is already divorced according to civil court and law. Is this America or Israel? Jewish law have legal binding power in America?

more garbage from vice to make the man look bad. How about letting people hear both sides in order to come to a conclusion. Of course they have some nasty homely looking feminist cat mom leading the war cry to save the woman from the mean old abusing man.

Lol this reminds me of Islam you need your husband permission for a divorce

    • Jasmine Ali
      Jasmine Ali 4 days ago

@ridwan omar yes you do. A Muslim woman can't divorce unless she has a serious reason that can be accepted by a shiek ( extreme abuse , he can't bear children etc). She is at the mercy of her husband and shiek who can allow it or not.
On the other hand, a Muslim man doesn't need a reason at all to divorce his wife. He can simple go to her and say "Talaq" 3 times and it's official. He can walk away and never justify it if he doesn't want to.
      Learn your religion

  • Mary Jones

Look. These are intelligent competent women. They know their faith.....very well. They understand the rules and regs. They are in no way forced to stay in this particular sect/branch of Judaism. They choose to observe orthodox tradition and all that it demands. Screaming about the injustice of it all, after things do not work out seems rather disingenuous. A Rabbi should have stepped in long before this woman went to this extreme. This husband should have been advised to do what was best for everyone involved. And, remember, who knows the reasons for the civil divorce; we have no idea what went on in the marriage.

Gotta love the double standards insisted on by religions and men. Rise up ladies, this is massogony at its best. How about equal rights if a lady needs a get then so should a man period. Update your book this isn't ancient times.

So many of these woman working for justice were wearing wigs because they believe their real hair is only meant to be seen by their husbands. Here they are so progressive in so many ways for others, but still so flawed in their own thinking. But that is me judging I guess and who am I to judge. I am happy Jill and others like her have advocates for this outdated system.

There should be a distinction between sects of Judaism. Reform Judaism does not make you get a gette to remarry. This is the orthodox community.
