This is the only time I don't wish to know abt the shooter. It's almost as satisfyingly as finding the killer of an innocent person. I don't know if it is morally correct but I'm glad the shooter had the courage. It was rather heroic to do so.

i dont think head injuries turn you into a monster or a killer. what it can do is inhibit you from feeling empathy, which in turn slowly turns you into a monster.

Head injuries are a major factor in criminal behaviour. Over 60% of the US prison population has a history of head injury.

It reminds of a case in the village of zoniana in Crete, Greece where almost everybody had marihuana in their garden's and when they asked an old man in live TV what was his opolinion on the circumstances he said " I don't know anything because i am both blind and deaf"

So a guy gets shot in the stomach and you're cool telling us about that, but when there's a crime against women, we need a special disclaimer . . . what sort of people are you used to dealing with?

  • Ellie Blackhurst

I don’t think his “wives” actually thought he had good qualities. They were for the most part young impressionable girls who were mentally and psychologically abused and manipulated. Very obvious Stockholm syndrome in my opinion.

I think the witnesses definitely knew who shot him, but that they all agreed to keep shut. Because they wanted this man dead, wanted him out of town- and they were willing to take the matters in to their own hands. So I think the town decided that it's not worth it to send another person to prison, for killing a guy that ultimately deserved it. Especially when that guy never went to prison himself

I think why vigilante justice seemed so necessary in this case was because people tried punishing this evil man through lawful means many times, and he got off on charges that would have sent most people to jail for life. At this point, the town had a decent case for their actions being committed in self defense.

there is evidence that head injuries can make ppl more violent. there was a case mentioned in one of my old biology textbook of a man who'd had a railroad spike plunged through his head from an accident but SURVIVED. afterwards his personality was noted to have drastically changed, and became abusive to those around him where he was perfectly nice before the spike. it's theorised the area of the brain damaged in his accident is responsible for impulse control.

I know this was uploaded a long time ago but I just had a thought that maybe those two girls who defended McElroy probably had Stockholm Syndrome. The psychological condition where hostages will build a relationship with their captor in order to survive. It might be so strong that they will be willing to defend McElroy even after his death.

Id like to comment on the theory that severe head injuries possibly cause one to lack empathy thus leading to behavioral issues. While I'm not a doctor nor specialist in the science of it, I'm a specialist in several head trauma occurances with my own experience. Not here to discredit or credit this theory yet give insight on this theory. While I consider my life and behavior "normal" I've had dependence issues which I link on a personal opinion to imbalances In brain. I've had no other traumatic or tradgic experiences during my whole life span of 29yr. I have what I would consider over- empathy towards people. Love you guys, keep up the good work. Hope my opinion interest you guys as your opinions and therioes always interest me!
