Way to go..i wonder if she would have guinnus world record
I don't care what happened later in her career.i had lots of admiration for her and that jump was amazing.
It breaks my heart to think of how many times she must’ve rewound her VHS tape of this triple axel and heard the words “good girl” used in such a loving and adoring and approving way. Those words must have been so validating, having barely ever heard that in her life before.
There were two classy rinks in the Portland area then - LLoyd Center and Clackamas Towne center - where Tanya skated regularly - but there was also a smaller, lesser known rink - Valley Ice Rink - just a mile or so from the Apt where she lived. I lived in the area as well and used to take my young daughter to the Valley Rink occasionally to watch Tanya train/practice. I can't imagine that Tanya was the instigator of the incident - I think it was her beau's idea all the way.
She should have been an Olympic gold winner! She was truly great!
She deserves to compete
That woman came out ready for perfection. Start to finish. Some try to stay within too much of a lock. Harding said she had nothing to lose. She attacked. All out. That's a winner.
Her performance after that jump screams “fuck you to everyone that ever dismissed me and my talent”
She could jump high, I'm from oregon i remember the hole Nancy thing, i thought I, tonya was pretty good and the judges should of gave her higher scores.
OMG THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!!
Wow... I never watched her perform, I held my breathe the entire time thinking she was going to fall! That was incredible...
Not many people know but she also has a sex tape out. It's pretty good.
She looks like a who
Omygod make me nervous
There hasn't been ONE national performance since this matched this. If the American skating industry had ANY brains at ALL they not only would have pulled her ability to skate professionally but she could have been an awesome coach and consultant to up and coming American young skaters when she retired because they could have learned tremendously from her! She gave a performance that had never been seen before at the time (or since) . Also Americans always LOVE the underdog and rags to riches stories. She was the one with the STORY. The industry was so put of sync with how most Americans think they were so stuck on their ice princess image that they misses the idea that Tonya was the one more people related to as fans She was equally if not MORE marketable than her competitors at the time. Her skill level when she performed at her best in my opinion surpassed her competitors when they skated at their best. She showed the audience what they haven't seen before .
My thoughts on Tonya Harding. I was more of a Nicole Bobek fan who I can see a lot of similarities in with Tonya oddly enough in both style and what happened to their careers. I also think while Tonya HAS legitimate fans (rightfully so as I think she was the better skater) I think her rise post-retirement is mostly out of a hatred of Nancy Kerrigan's way she milked with her injury, making Oksana Baiul cry and arrogant personality.Overall I prefer the unsung Tonia: Tonia Kwiatkowski
I like when Tonya did the Triple Axel
Besides the 3A this performance is amazing and a real joy to watch. She was clean, powerful, passionate, full of life: she rocked it on the ice! What a fabulous skater
I love Tonya!!! She was the BEST! She must be a coach!
0:57 what a trick!!!!
bravo Tonya, tu es une battante
It was the Batman music ;)
Is that the batman theme song ?
people said that she lacked grace ? maybe she did a little, but she had fucking style. Look at her moves when the rock music comes on ♡
2:49 Her skating is so precise to the music that each of her legs kicks up at the keys of from the piano
Her footwork at 3:56 and that kick at 4:04 is just so amazing to me, I’m hoping to learn this in the future
Damn she is thicker than a bowl of oatmeal
0:58 She does the triple axel
The joy on her face makes me sad for what's to come.
Super mam, i see i,tonya im crying
It’s a shame they banned her from skating ever again, she was so inspiring and incredible ❤️
This shit gave me chills
And then, a movie was made.
Oh my fucking god!
Kids today need to stop belly-achingly....sometimes you just have to find the courage...on this day Tanya found that courage...what a performance👏👏👏👏👏👌🏿
One of my favorite programs EVER of Tonya's!
Her face!!!! Such an accomplishment!!!
almost everyone here 'cause ''I , Tonya''
Figure skater are amazing like how do do you skate in the middle of the ice and even lift a leg of the ground let alone spin
*G L O R I O U S*
She has to be one of the strongest jumpers of all time, even many of the gold medal okympians and famous skaters don't have her ability to land such syrong, flawless jumps. So confident too. You can see when skaters are confident in their jumos, it shows.
At the 1992 Albertville Olympics, Scott Hamilton the 84 gold medalist and commentator for NBC rated Tonya the 2nd best technical skater in the world behind Midori Ito.
I love how genuinely happy the commentator gets
She did good 👍
Send in the clowns
Tonya Harding will always be a champion no matter what they say
Watched figure skating in the 90s. This was the first performance i've ever seen, it was truly magical and one of the best ive seen. Nobody electrified the crowd like she does.
Bitches could never!
I LOVE THE HAIR
Viaplay brought me here with tears
Посмотрел после просмотра фильма Я Тоня.Зауважал.Привет из России!
I like how the announcer truly sounded happy for her
What a skater. What a damn skater. I knew she was good, but...wow.
Best victory of Tonya Harding and a legendary moment in American skating history.
All I want for Christmas is to have ice skates and lessons with that kind costumes she wore 🙂
Girl was on her game!!!
Maybe I just don’t know Jack shit about skating but all the twirls look the same to me. It’s hard to count the twirls
Her triple axel is the best
Franz Dalucio - there are videos available on you tube entitled "Ladies triple axels" showing the 8 ladies who have landed a triple axel in international competition. Some have ratings by the authors. Midori is rated #1.
All the comments saying other skaters can also do triple axels, well of course they can! Coaches have much more education nowadays on how to perfect such skills not to mention the pullys used to get it down while practicing. Nobody will ever be able to take this away from Tonya.
they may be able to do it, but can they land it when it counts??? They can land it hundred times in training and practice, but the only time it really matters is in that 3 to 4 minute program during competition.... You are right that is her moment!!!! Did you see the movie on her???? It was pretty good..
Laney Rae - as of nov 28 18, only 8 women have landed a triple axel in international competition. only 2 american women, tonya in 1991 and mirai in 2018 at the olympics. for the women a triple axel is still a big deal.
Say what you want about her, but nobody ever did the triple axel like she could. (This is just what I say when I'm too embarrassed to admit the I, Tonya movie was really good and made me feel sympathetic.)
it was a good movie and she wasn't some spoiled little rich kid either.... She was amazing and hardly had to work that hard at it....
Lorelai M - there are videos on youtube of ladies triple axels showing the women who have landed a triple axel in international competition. Watch them. Then give me your opinion as to which lady has the best triple axel. In the videos that have ratings, Midori Ito is rated #1.
damn she jumped high asf
I keep pausing the movie to watch these clips. Outstanding.
0:58 she does the triple axel
Ughhhh shes talented. Thats it. End of story . No one can ever say other wise.
I had no idea who she was. Never watched figure skating. Then the whole Nancy deal happened.
She’s a legend regardless of the outcome. Hats off 👏🏽
They destroyed this woman because they could not get over what environment she came from
I can’t even let go of the rail when I got ice skating 😂
i have the same story i am a grown man but i cant stop crying when i watch this that was not our fault! giving your best cant be a fault!
this girls story always reminds me the importance of education family and at least being in an enviroment surrounded by these 3 things makes a big difference ;how hard you try even if you make it people around you effect your life in both ways
лайк если смотришь после фильма🤔
0:58 The triple Axel.
I hate how the judges used to treat her like shot just because she couldn't afford a better outfit. Her abusive mother and husband leaded her to fallout.
My eyes WIDENED(is that a word) just looking at that
Anyone can say what third song is?
+PV1230 thank you so much
Wild Thing by Tone Loc
Nancy’s signature move was skating on one foot, while the other leg is in the air. Tonya’s became the triple axel. You just can’t compare them.
That was her signature even off ice.
Frida Rymell - Tonya was far more talented than Nancy. At the albertville olympics in 1992, Scott Hamilton rated Tonya as the 2nd best technical skater in the world behind Midori.
I wish Margaret Robbie would have won the Best Actress Oscar for playing Tonya in I, Tonya.
She was an amazing skater and it so sad that they took away skating from her.
Did anyone else get chills when she did the triple axel
I loved how she broke from her routine and reacted to her triple axel. You can feel her joy.
Imagine if she messed up the whole dance after she did the triple axel
So did she do it 3 times?
Tonya Harding is the poster child for making sports more accessible to ALL people. Not just the affluent ones.
I just watched the I tonya movie and the commentating is word for word lol
7:14 interesting this but wasn't in the film............
She was a phenomenal skater. Unfortunately, she got dealt a shitty hand of cards. Even though she is short, she is well proportioned & that worked to her advantage. She was strong as hell, determined & I can't imagine where she could have gone had she not had that sociopath for a mother and screwball for a husband. She did this with the constant abuse from her mother & her husband--just imagine if she had supportive people behind her what she could have accomplished.
They must have filmed this with a calculator
Thats resilience and determination right there, take note, contemporary princesses 👸
This made me cry. God, what an athlete.
the commentator is so fucking annoying, the music of danny elfman is such a cool choice
You go, Tonya! No one can ever take this away from you.
Oooohhh I love so much this video, i can't leave to repite, she is inspiration! oooooohh I love you!!! Wooooo Awesome!!!
