The thing that I struggle with non-binary/agender terms is that they seem like their replacing personality trait descriptors? "tomboy" etc. Everyone has masculine/feminine traits, we jump into masculine and feminine roles daily. Yes gendered clothing is a social construct, wasn't long ago we had boys wearing dresses and men wearing high heels, trousers were considered male clothing. Transgender/gender-dysphoria is a recognised medical term that is separate from these new labels. They seem so hung up on social constructs whilst at the same conforming to them and then waiting to be offended. Maybe I just don't understand as it's something I have not experienced. At the end of the day if they are happy and not infringing on others then just let them be.

No No No do not claim you speak for everyone in your age range. The they that has a 5 o clock shadow need to get over it and use the mens.
Do not make me deal with your issues. I have enough off my own. The ginger needs to get a grip. What a portion of the younger generation has is major insecurity and commitment issues.
They do not have to worry about me using incorrect pronouns with they because the term "go away you are in my safe space" has not pronouns in it.

What's it with people and trying to normalize gender dysphoria? I don't care if your trans, if you are biologically a man/woman than I will call you accordingly. And the whole thing of the toilets, use your biological gender and don't use the disability bathrooms if your not disabled, and definitally don't use the opposite gender toilet, even if you consider yourself that gender.

  • C R I P P L I N G D E P R E S S I O N

    How about not celebrating delusion?
I'm sorry that some people don't feel like they are in the body that they want, but that's reality, reality is harsh, I know that "gender identity" is how some people cope with childhood trauma or simply need of individuality, but lying to yourselves and to everyone won't make that made up identity true.
Sex is biological, whether you want it or not, you were born with a certain sex, being masculine or feminine is a consequence of sex, but that doesn't mean it's perfect or that it is not affected by other things.
Here's a scoop: You can be a man and be feminine, you can be a girl and be masculine, none of that will change the sexual characteristic that is in every single cell of your body.
There are 2 sexes, and there are 2 genders, those 2 terms are interchangeable, don't mistake gender and gender roles, there are only 2 genders and that's just how things are.
You cannot "transition" from a gender to another, just like you could not physically change the genetic information in every one of your cells and grow organs of the other sex to replace yours, gender dysphoria is a mental illness, it doesn't mean they should be treated with decency, it just means that the problem isn't that they are in the wrong body, but that their brains would identify (or was influenced to identify) with the wrong sex, the cure is not surgery or HRT to "change sexes" but to fix the problem in the brain and make them accept their bodies as they are.
You can not act like the gender role associated with your biological sex, but you don't need to deny the scientific reality to do so, no you cannot be non-binary because sex is binary, in the only few cases that people are intersex (which is a genetic condition, not an identity) we can most of the time still determine that they are closer to one sex than the other. In other cases, well they can decide, but why would that matter to you, since you consider genders to be equal?
Also, don't make up gender identities to explain how you feel, this has nothing to do with gender, it's just emotions, interests and feelings, you don't have to create some new expression based on gender to explain your personality.

    • super_sad
      super_sad Month ago +1

Rockabyebecca 1) people should be allowed to use whatever pronouns they feel comfortable using.
      2) the only thing I could find about transgender and disabled toilets was this; I realise not all disabilities are visible, I speak as someone with 2 invisible disabilities, one of which means sometimes I use a cane, sometimes I use crutches and I know I'm going to be a wheelchair before 30, transgender is not a disability, therefore you should not use the disabled toilets in case someone who is actually disabled needs to use the toilet. Use the bathroom you feel safest in whether it be male or female.

Rockabyebecca Mainly out of laziness and the fact that we are a family of grammar geeks. We all, including my non-binary child, just can’t use plural pronouns for a single thing. So we still use she/her for lack of a better choice. If she were adamant about it, I’d try harder to break the habit, but she’s very practical about life.

I personally respect people who identify as non-binary. Regarding the toilet situation, I see that unisex restrooms might sound like a good idea. My uni actually gave it a try but after a week or so some creepy dudes started installing cameras and shit. Things like this happen and make it very complicated to implement such things in real life. I mean it's just a restroom, you pee/poor and leave. So maybe it's just easiest to just accept how it is and move on...

They never talk about dysphoria, which is the most important part about being non binary. when people talk about non binary they never talk about dysphoria so many people think they are attention seeking and that they dint actually have a real mental condition that causes them to feel that way

@dragolax90210 its also important that we emphasize that its not a choice either. It is a mental condition that people have and they should be respected. Its out of their control. They don't do this for the fun of it.

    • dragolax90210
      dragolax90210 Month ago +1

I think the reason dysphoria often isn't talked about is because that paints it as a disorder (it is) which implies that there is something that needs to be corrected. If you ever watch the people who think they are animals and listen to some of their interviews they behave just like transgenders but nobody rushes to defend that because it's more clear to people to don't pay much attention to this stuff that those people are out of their minds and need psychological help. But treating something as a disorder carries negative connotations so above all else the media has to keep it from being framed that way or they lose control of the narrative. I do however agree with some of these comments that some of these comments that some of these people are just looking for attention given how much more prevalent it's becoming. I don't buy the whole "oh its always been there, its just that now society is acknowledging it" argument

    • Ryan B
      Ryan B Month ago

@Zen-RPG It's NOT a deformity. It's a natural variation, like red hair or black skin vs white skin. People come in all sizes shapes and colors. This is the truth which is being hidden by doctors who promote the belief that hermaphrodites are deformed and encourage the surgical mutilation of hermaphrodites to make them conform to the false binary norm of the typical male and female as the ideal of perfect health and beauty. It's not a deformity. It's a natural variation and hermaphrodites are beautiful. Ovotestis are the predominant gonadol type of certain races and there is a very real genocide underway to eliminate hermaphrodites from the gene pool to defend and uphold the belief of judeo-christian influenced societies that there are only 2 genders and that the very real 3rd sex/gender is merely a deformity. The 3rd sex/gender is not a deformity since deformities do not affect more than a few percent of the population. Approximately 50% of "boys" develop breasts at puberty. This is because they are intersexed. Doctors hide the truth about this and tell those boys this is normal. Although common it's a symptom of an intersex condition.

@A M. So, what is Emily in this video? Male or female? What are people with ovotestis instead of ovaries or testis? What is someone with a phallus and nutsack filled with descended ovaries instead of testis?
The fact is sex isn't determined by any single factor. It's determined by weighing many factors. In the case of the aforementioned people, their gender identity is the most important factor, because we have no better way of assigning a gender to them than to ask them what they feel they are. Some of them embrace the fact that they are hard (if not impossible) to categorize and so call themselves "non-binary" instead of male or female or man or woman.

The difference is that they lived their lives unapologetically! This latest group is triggered by everything and expect others to validate them. Not a healthy way of being.

TBH, I’m a straight, cis-woman who has used the men’s room at bars and clubs for years because the line is always shorter. If guys complain, I just tell them that I’m the prettiest drag queen they’ve ever seen. ♥️👸🏾

Also I've done this many times. Sure I've had guys says to me "hey your not sepost to be in here it's a guys bathroom." As I've walked into the stall. And as I close that door I've called out "you've seen one penis you've seen em all hun! Dont worry I won't look, and I'll say it's huge!"

@David Kennedy the sexuality she was messing with wouldn't be the drag queens' ones, but the straight men's she was tricking into thinking she was a man.
You're so quick to shout SJW like it's an insult but you can't even do some reading comprehension. I think that says a lot.
