  • If you’ve ever worried that you wouldn’t be able to produce enough power when off the grid in a tiny house on wheels, this house may be the one to reassure you! I never thought that we would see a tiny house which has quite so many solar panels on the roof. Amazingly, this tiny house has a 4kw solar array with 36kw of lead acid battery storage, allowing the family to power not just their home (including all the modern appliances) but also a tiny house building workshop!

The home was constructed as a DIY build by Glade and Cloe, with the vast majority of all the materials being found in the hard rubbish. With all the labour done by the couple, and with the building materials mostly up-cycled and recycled, the home was constructed for an amazing price of only AU$10,000!

Sitting on 12 acres just outside of Melbourne, Australia the off-the-grid tiny house is an ideal home for his young family. Glade has started his own tiny house construction business which operates from his property, allowing him to spend time at home with his family. Their home is packed full of clever design ideas and is definitely one to check out. I hope you enjoy the video tour of this stunning off the grid tiny house.

stop lying to people with catchy titles... It's only off-grid if you add another 10k for the solar sytsem
so that nets 2 errors in 1 title...
is it really that hard to be honest to viewers? would it really hurt saying "20k off-grid tiny house with huge solar system"
    still a nice budget no?

Man this is very impressive and full of love house to be and work just alongside to make money. Great job really nice. One small advice, if I may give to the owner, who I saw a clip welding metals with I believe the Electric welding gun, but that same process can be changed to use Water Powered Gun, meaning still use a tiny bit of electricity to generate Hydrogen gas and use that Brown's gas to weld his Metals. One gun for all different kinds of metals - Copper / Alum / Steel / Hard steel. That will be so much environment friendly and once he learns the benefits of Water Welding Gun, he will never look back to any other welding source. Cheers.

As much as the houses I enjoy seeing the folks that live in them. You do an excellent job of interviewing and presenting them. I'm thinking of building my own TH one day, lightweight and industrial/utilitarian metal framed, as I'm a welder/fabricator, and also want mine to be portable enough to be an occasional RV and eventually guest house or income rental unit for a single tenant.

A genuinely sweet couple, a nice family and a warm home. They exude happiness. I love her Italian-Australian accent. That kid's got a lot of clothes too! Ha!

AAAANNNNNDDD ... finally a tiny home with a protective bug screen! I've been waiting all my life to see this.
I was beginning to think bugs didn't exist anywhere tiny homes were built.

Just imagine Seven billion people living off-the-grid with 10 years life span lead-acid batteries. The battery bank alone (12x$600) $7,200 cost more than a 10 years energy bill of a small on-the-grid house....city dwellers are 10x greener than these people.

Now, this is a lovely family. A cozy home with a stunning view, my goodness they truly are Blessed in so many ways. IMO, he made the right decision when it came to his job. Spending time with the family surrounded by nature is far more important than a big house, lots of bills, city, pollution, stress .... just my opinion. Definitely a lovely family 😊

    US Off The Grid ILLEGAL..
    Solar, electric, water, septic..
The problem arises when overly restrictive city and county ordinances and zoning restrictions put a crimp on the off grid lifestyle and make it illegal to do certain things on or with your property. That’s when it becomes illegal to live off grid.
Zoning Restrictions & City/County Ordinances Which Prohibit or Severely Limit Off Grid Living or Make it Illegal:
    The Problem:
Camping on Your Own Land is Illegal
Get yourself & kids out of Amerika. Or live in your vehicle at Walmart.

“Present Father” - You can tell this family has it right. Simple living. As hard as it is, I’ve always worked from home. You only have your children for a few years. They grow up so fast.

I love the solar power idea. I don't like it on the roof. but I was thinking if you had an acre of property or more. you could put it at the furthest point of the property so you wouldn't have to see it on your roof. In any case it's great video

What an awesome design & off grid just enhances it all.
Love the use of space & storage! Such a wonderful family. Their creativity in furnishings is great & allows great opportunities for entertaining. That kitchen is perfectly done. Recycle & reuse is important- it's amazing & sometimes shocking to see what others throw out as trash. Well done!
