  • If you’ve ever worried that you wouldn’t be able to produce enough power when off the grid in a tiny house on wheels, this house may be the one to reassure you! I never thought that we would see a tiny house which has quite so many solar panels on the roof. Amazingly, this tiny house has a 4kw solar array with 36kw of lead acid battery storage, allowing the family to power not just their home (including all the modern appliances) but also a tiny house building workshop!

The home was constructed as a DIY build by Glade and Cloe, with the vast majority of all the materials being found in the hard rubbish. With all the labour done by the couple, and with the building materials mostly up-cycled and recycled, the home was constructed for an amazing price of only AU$10,000!

Sitting on 12 acres just outside of Melbourne, Australia the off-the-grid tiny house is an ideal home for his young family. Glade has started his own tiny house construction business which operates from his property, allowing him to spend time at home with his family. Their home is packed full of clever design ideas and is definitely one to check out. I hope you enjoy the video tour of this stunning off the grid tiny house.

I love the wood working, oh I adore the staining for me, solar power. I had to watch twice as I wish and hope they expand it for the children one day.

I'm sorry, those lofts are major claustrophobic. Just too confining in both the adult and children lofts. The children stairs are scary. Love the woods and the solar power is amazing.

Lovely home - lovely couple. With all respect; that woman has the most beautiful hair and accent, and seems an amazing wife. The man epitomises fatherhood and works hard. Bless them.

So, you spent $10K to replace your existing $50 a month gas system? 10000/(50*12) = 16.7 years to break even, excluding the batteries and panels you will have to replace. Should have imported from China instead. You will quite possibly never get your money back with the regular replacements at these costs.

One of the best tiny houses I have ever seen. The house looked lived in with kids and made sense in its construction. The family radiated joy and healing! They were so chilled out.
Their home is similar to way earlier homes were built minus the solar, maybe. I say maybe because historians never considered solar as a possible source of energy when I was at university. Their monthly bills are about 15 dollars! Amazing!

It's very spacious considering it's a 'tiny house' however, the sitting area is very small - the sofa isn't what I would have expected, given that the family loves entertaining... Also, having seen other tiny house designs, the lofts need not have been a crawl-in space. You could have taken advantage of the tilt in the solar panels and built a high-rise ceiling at an angle, to stand straight... an over-looked key point! The opposite-end staircase is nice but then again, there could have been shelving/cupboards right across at the top (even if it meant shallow ones) - storage space is so vital!

Great value for that price. No lifetime mortgage hanging on you head. He can work and be close to his family, and spend money he earns on his family rather than making banks richer.

Now i am a fan of small and cosy spaces like trailers, floating homes etc but this thing i don't really get - you already have land and you are building a concrete immovable structure . Making it a larger one stored building is both cheaper, easier, gives more space and increases livability.

okay, i've watched a hundred of these videos and i think this is my most favorite execution of the whole point and purpose of a tiny house ever. so beautiful and done with a practicality towards cost. instead of these over produced $60,000 condos on wheels some of these tiny houses turn into. really inspiring.

That is one powerful wind sail you have constructed on the top of that thin house, even moderately strong winds from behind it will take that house flying out of Kansas.

Oh god, solar panels are definitely not renewable. They only last 10 years, are not biodegradable and are more toxic then toxic waste. Please save the planet and choose anything but solar panels. Actually try to avoid wind turbine also because birds get killed by those huge fast spinning blades....

Geothermal and nuclear are the only proven green energies. Nuclear energy gets bad rep because politic are scared of loosing their nuclear advantage.

Live in Tampa I got 35 acers in NW Florida good land just treees down now sense the storm, if someone would build one of these will let them stay in it half the time, or if I can get 3 other people to put in $4,000 each and build it each will have 1 week out of the month.. have 35 acres will get to use it, clear it off make a garden build a barn to store things, I'm 59 have Parkinson cannot do the work but I own the land free and clear, Would like to set it up in a trust for people to use after I die, live in Tampa now would like to have a place on my land instead of having to stay with family members all the time my land is located in Calhoun County Florida between Tallahassee and Panama city, good farming community, two major rivers to fish at 45 minutes to beach but the small beach town Mexico Beach Florida is gone now due to Hurricane Micheal
