From 1963-1967 Corvettes never sounded better. Mid year and 68-69 (spectacular.) After that, not until the C5R came out. Their street cars for the last 25-30 years have sounded terrible in comparison to numerous other sport and super cars. Great to see they've made the leap to mid engine design finally, and they can continue to build and tweak on that. But, their next overall leap should be focused on SOUND. There is an art to sexy sound as much as there is to designing something that looks sexy. Get to work and make this mid engine sound as good as I think it will look a few years on after refining the design.
No engine bay shots ?!!!! I waited lol
Chevy dropped a lot of different models and I’m glad they did this car is must
praying for some decent reliability and solid interior quality
Dang it, Jay! "P-38 Mustang"? So close haha!
I thought I heard the engine diesel when he shut the car off at 22:08!!
Okay, I'm sold. Now I just have to sell my snare drum collection, hit my 401k and sell my wife's BMW.
Looks like I won't be getting one this Christmas.....or...ever.
I like the c7 better. This one is good tho
I watch all your reviews because I know you're a genuin car guy... Once again awesome job loveing the new Corvette
14:14 P-38 Lightning was the aircraft. P-38 Mustang isn't a thing. Earl went and saw the P-38 Lightning and drew inspiration.
35:46
denim horror.
IT SHOULD HAVE A RPM SHI8FT LIGHT ON THE TOP OF THE WHEEL! 🔥🔥
An amazing car for an extrodinary price !
Is anyone else gettin a lambo vibe from the body?
I know the boomers are so upset about this lol
good for you Chevy
It's been reported that it costs $10k more than to build one than GM sells one for. I was lucky enough to see a bunch of C7's at a hotel about 4 months before they went on sale. It was near the GM proving grounds.
They should be wearing New balance shoes and ugly shirts.
It’s a P-51 Mustang, not a P-38 Mustang. The P-38 was a twin tail boom WWII Fighter/Attack platform.
It's an attractive car but it'll never match the likes of the NSX or Italian sports cars.
If you want to head to the dragstrip for the weekend, will the C8 cut a great light & run consistent? Del Johnke
Mr. Leno and team,
I have to give you all a big thank you! Although, I may never be able to own any of the cars you feature due to making the hard sacrifices (lol....okay, not owning one of the incredible cars on your show to put my kids first as much as I can is not a “hard sacrifice”) allows me to live vicariously through you and your teams video’s . It makes me feel like I am almost part of the show and that I own the car for myself. Again, thank you all for the great work. New fan / subscriber.
Why didn't they have this broken in before bringing it on the show?
Jay looks completely uninterested.
l hope this is fixed cheaper than the italian exotics !! l think there will alot of people who buy just because of that ,imagine taking your mid engine sports car to the chevy dealership to get fixed ??
VETTES ARE ALWAYS to take a drive in but since l saw Cannonball Run ,Magnum PI ,etc as a kid with mid engine exotic cars l was hooked and NOW CORVETTE is one too !! l love it .So JAY what color are you going to order??
This thing is unsafe at any speed.... :o)
Optioned how I would want it with all the cool exterior bits is $74K that's Z51 with the mag suspension and the high spoiler, trident wheels. carbon fiber ground effects Elkhart Blue, with fender hashes and the racing stripes.
Anyone wanna buy one for me!? Lol
dear Corvette if u are going to crush it i can give it a nice home just saying lol
I used to want a new corvette. I'll stick with 2019 and older
Yet another Boomer flop. Sad.
Brilliant move by Corvette. My 40 Something age group now has an american car to be excited about, right when we can drop some coin on a car for fun. Perfect car and timing for the Gen X'r that outgrew silly Honda Civic's but cant afford a Ferrari or Lambo.
It's like the ugly baby. No one wants to say it. Ok I will. It's ugly.
Sadly, the Corvette look pathetic. I should have bought the 2019 model.
@J F I'll take a look, being looking at the Lexus LC500.
Thanks
Juan Macias you still can man, and right now it’s the best time to buy a 2019 model, because they are dropping the prices beetween 10 and 12 grand for the c7 models
Superb presentation! Tadge Juechter is a class act! A gentleman and the ultimate sports car development engineer.
Could I have that car please? I'll be ok with that colour. Smiles naively.
The dealership gouging sh*t needs to stop. I wish the Big 3 motherships would step in and stop the stealerships from marking up cars. I would pay MSRP for this Vette...but not an additional $5000 or more just because the stealerships think they can get away with that. I truly wish Tesla's sales model becomes the standard and you can buy direct from the mothership and dealerships become used car lots and service centers only.
I'm a lifelong mustang fan...but I really like this version of the Vette. Well done Chevy!!
There is no way that gm is making any money on a 60k Vette. That's saying that it is a 48k dealer cost. That is with no options, base car. They will make it hard to get, dealers will add a lot of 15% mark up options on their floorplan cars, their bread and butter cars. I would love to see the Monroney sticker (MSRP) on a base-model vs dealer markup.
Hey Jay, tell us about how the power is limited because it's a pre-production model :)
I don’t know why I dismissed this car. Maybe with the looks from the front or maybe because I just assumed it would cost an astronomical amount more than the c7. Haven’t been more wrong about a product in a long time
Feel like the wheels need to be bigger and deeper..
Jesus....they FINALLY got this car right....mid engine and technology at a decent price.
I wonder if they will make a standard in the new vett
This is the most enjoyable car review I’ve seen in some time. I’m surprised at how relaxed the company man and Jay are with each other, it really makes this quite wonderful. I don’t feel like we’re just being fed horse-hockey here, and he’s been very frank and clear about where past shortfalls were on the platform.
i'm stunned by it
that's what i love about it
Он уже в продаже? И он его естественно купил.или предзаказ?)) В любом случае Джей красавчик,как автолюбитель и коллекционер
Sixty thousand dollar? Or did I heard wrong?
Damn that's affordable
Base model, my most will be 80k. Which is still cheap
i wish it was 75k to filter out ricers ..... now it’s a poor man’s ferrari
So the convertible has more headroom then the coupe? Because thats my only complaint about my 2019 C7 Stingray, is headroom.
PS: It looks like it has so much headroom. I think Jay is like 6 foot plus tall. So they sold me on headroom. Im going to trade mine in on this because of headroom. Seriously. Thats my only thing i hate on mine, is headroom sucks. So it looks like they heard people complain about it also and fixed it. ✌️
Love it! I’m definitely buying one
forgot,
yeah, it looks to much like a Lamborghini!
big ford fan but this is an amazing piece of kit. wouldn't own one!
a C1 with a big Gen 5 LS in the front then maybe? lol
Officially put my deposit in and can't wait to take delivery.
@Tom S minimum deposit is like $500 too. Get a job.
@Tom S if you had $10,000 then you could place a deposit too. 😮 It's nothing like lambo money.
Sure you did, I have 10 Lamborghinis too.
Bravo Chevy!
this guy is .............................a well oiled machine; presentation as good as it gets!
I have just one question ... it's a question I've asked the people that should have the answer, before on other cars, but sadly they did not know. As a pilot I accept wind speed as a normal part of every day operation. Mentioned in this video, the top can be exercised as long as the car is not exceeding 30 mph. Has Chevrolet factored in any amount of a headwind when arriving at this number ? ( example .. if I'm driving 30 mph while also facing into a headwind of 30 mph, the wind force on the top would be 60 mph. ) I really want to know, have the engineers taken this into account ? ( maybe stating 30 mph even though they know it's good for say 70 mph, or is there a comment in owners manual warning not to use in strong winds etc.. ) When my convertible is delivered I will do the top while stopped .. it's just how I am .. but would love to know just the same. Would be great if the people at Corvette could be asked and their answer posted here. Thanks Jay ... PS also interested in knowing if they have any consideration for a twisting moment due to a crosswind factor ?
Not going to mention the door handles?
$60,000 is pretty false. If you want any of the niceties, like the front end lift, you’ll have to sprung for the LT3 for $80,000. They don’t even offer these options on the LT1
