This scene took out the good sides of both dany and jon: dany's willpower, her dreams and strengh as an individual and jon's honesty, straightforwardness and unselfishness when it comes to protecting his people. I loved both these characters more than anyone in this scene! Plus that they're not afraid of saying what they wanna say just screams that those two are made for each other, despite that they are related

Technically Jon’s grandfather burned his other grandfather alive

  • AngelicusImmortus
    AngelicusImmortus 12 days ago +2

Jon snow proves he is King here. She says are you going to break faith, he said your dad murdered my grandfather - breaking faith. She expects him to expect her apology and expect him to ignore her fathers betrayal. So he says if you don’t follow your fathers rules, why should I follow my grandfathers? When your father broke that bond.
If she hadn’t disarmed him I doubt he’d step back from her guards. Jon Snow versus a Dothraki or unsullied? Jon wins.
She says no faith in myths but she did because she got the Dragons.
The most amusing part is that she knows she has no chance without him.
Davos tells her you rule based on your name, he rules based on what he has done, earning his kingship.
The pledge of the sword and him pointing out her father betrayed his people.
He didn’t declare himself king, the people did.
If he was in rebellion he wouldn’t arrive unarmed and unsupported.
He also dares her to call him a prisoner knowing how his people would respond. And that on that island she is only defended by her dragons. Dragons that didn’t appear until he was already close.
She fails to see the power he actually has, fails to notice her dragons are happy with him whilst there, even though she knows that means she can’t get them to kill him.
This also lays out she is the mad queen, she didn’t gain her army by any means other than killing their leaders, murdering their leaders basically saying join me or die.
Against Sam’s father his men only bow to her under the threat of the dragon, so she burns them alive just as her father burned Jon’s grandfather alive.
Every step shows she is increasingly becoming the mad queen.
Then when on her dragon having beaten Cersei she slaughters the city just because she can.
Proving she didn’t come to free them from Cersei.
She has the iron throne and rulership of the kingdoms and then announces she is going to keep going, killing more and claiming it was to free knowing that Greyworm will just kill everyone he meets.
She has unarmed men executed, rather than giving them a chance to offer their service.
She was sold by her brother and taken by the man she eventually loved in season one, from there on she got everything she wanted by killing people. Even when she insists on the execution of one man and the people who had begged her for mercy turn on her she doesn’t learn her lesson. People won’t just follow her because she overpowers their leaders, they won’t just automatically love her or be scared into following her.
So when Jon won’t promise after she says love or fear, again she sees it at not just doing what she wants, so chooses fear.
The extra touches come when she sees how people just go to Jon after they beat the white walkers rather than bow to her and Tyrion points out she gains Gendry by giving him a title.
It proves that she can’t just expect to be loved.
Those moments she her final turns to being the mad queen and when she looks at Jon before slaughtering the city, she is saying to him this is your fault because she didn’t say you loved me when I said fear or love.
She never accepts he is king by birthright and by the choice of the people.
She has Varys murdered, by not giving him his right to last words before execution.
Even Cersei lets a condemned person say their last words.
So through the whole show you see her turn into being the mad queen it’s just people assumed that the incestuous manipulator Cersei was evil and Dany was lovely, they didn’t watch how Dany built her army and Cersei made allies.
That’s why it’s hysterical that people got so upset by her fate. She gets what she says she wanted all the way through and then wants more.
It shows Jon is the true king long before he finds his true name.
Also the writers ran out of GRR Martin’s books by season four, it’s just been their writing since then as GRRM hasn’t written a word except the title for ten years!! Don’t blame the TV writers blame Martin.

She was perfectly clear with Jorah, Tyrion, Jon and Varys that her intention was clearly taking the throne and destroy the existing Lords against her. Idk why were we surprised in season 8. Idk why they kept her from her goal for a whole year. Terrible year.

I still don't see why she needed him?
Actually she did take a knife in the heart too.

She took a knife to the heart, but she wasn't killed for saving a people others hated. It was to stop her from continuing her carnage.
I'd say she needed him because the Night King was eventually going to become her concern too, sooner or later, and when it did, she would be unprepared so the undead would take the North, Westeros, and all of humanity.

Daenerys: BEND THE KNEE!! I'm the rightful Queen. I WAS BORN tO RULE THE 7 KINDOMS....AND I WILL.

Jon: I have something to say. I did not become Lord commander because I aspire to be one. It came because of other people's actions. And I did not become King in the North out of ambition, but once again I had no choice as a result of other people's actions. But nonetheless I am King. King Jon, that is my name. What does a king do Ser Davos?
    Davos: he rules!
Jon: Yes, good....... he rules. And as a ruler (whispers at Daenerys ear)I have the last say. *MEEE!!!* not you,not you,and not you!!!(points at Tyrion, Daenerys and Missande)

He could successfully escaped from the woman. Love is the death of duty and duty is the death of love.
Jon fulfilled his own duty and save the world.
If Jon showed a slight joy on the horse in the real north at the very ending, the evaluation on the last episode would be changed positively. He could be a good king in the real north. And 6 kingdoms is not capable to interfere with him anymore.

Daenerys should have stayed at Dragonestone and let Jon go home fight the dead. Nothing would have happened and the throne would have returned to their owners,Targaryens.
It returned eventually and went to Hell tho
