I still don’t get all of the hate people have for what they did with Thor in this movie. After my own battles with depression I too gained a lot of weight and became the butt of a lot of jokes. This is just one potential way that depression can hurt a person, and I think this movie depicted it very well. This movie did a great job of showing one potential path that depression and grief can take a person down.

I haven’t had a great time of it lately but for the past 3 hours, you have made me smile, laugh and cry- it’s been lovely, thank you. And that 3000 counter was a killer, bravo 💫❤️💫

Idk why everyone keeps saying goodbye to Cap. We've seen numerous videos for the phase 5 lineup. Secret Empire is going to be made. Cap'll be back, reinvigorated and raring, and a temporary Hydra agent!

  • Serious(WithDaysOff)

Ok but why did Hulk snap his fingers? They said that with the stone it would be as easy as a snap of the fingers and when Thanos did it in Infinity War it was sorta like a screw you kinda moment. And same when Tony did it. But there really wasn't any reason Hulk had to do it

If I may, as someone dealing with both PTSD, anxiety, and depression...I felt the representation was accurate. From Thor's side, you simply stop caring about anything. You isolate...you go out of your way to find activities that can be done alone or with at most 1 other person. You have a high tendency of self medicating. Which he's shown doing throughout the movie. Everyone's coping mechanisms are different...but trying to use humor to cover how much you're hurting isn't uncommon. And his seemingly random breakdowns are even in line with what it's really like. Anything or nothing at all can trigger you into an instantaneous tail-spin.
And it's pretty accurate as far as how other treated him. While it seemed harsh at first glance, they're treating him just like everyone else because he's there and present. Oblivious to how each instance is being received. They're seeing it as if he's in then he's in. And let's be honest....who's thinking that a God can have PTSD?

    • Onyx Rose
Onyx Rose 18 hours ago +1

@ThatHighGuy True. Obviously, I can only speak from my own experiences with such things, and as pointed out in the video, everyone is different.

    • ThatHighGuy
      ThatHighGuy 18 hours ago

@Onyx Rose You're not necessarily wrong. There are many moments where yes, you do want to just be treated normal. But, there's that hidden immediacy that we all have to be wary of. Where in a matter of a second you can go from happily taking a friends jab and throwing it right back....to it being a reminder of the internalized failure. And I do get where you're coming from. It's the natural and immediate response. It's just so much more complicated than that because of how sudden it is. That's why the term "triggered" actually exists

    • Onyx Rose
Onyx Rose 18 hours ago +1

I always felt that they were trying to do the only thing they could do now, treat him like they always would have. They've always poked fun at each other, from the very first time they met, why should this be any different? Sure, it seems mean because of what he is going through, but it's really allowing him to feel a sense of normalcy from before Thanos. I don't know about you, but having your friends treat you like normal after all that sh*t would feel far better to me than everyone walking on eggshells, too afraid of triggering or hurting.

I'm really surprised the whole sequence of the "something just entered the upper atomsphere!" scene wasn't mentioned more. That entrance had about as much impact as thor arriving in wakanda; everything seems doomed the heroes are all just trying to survive and BOOM! huge ray of light smites away the threat and turns the tide of the battle.

Just my 2 pence here, but i believe that tough love can help with depression if used in the correct way. You have to want to get better, the more you mope the worse it gets. Sometimes you need the friend to give you those proverbial slaps to get you to stop moping and start wanting to change. Not saying that tough love should be all the time, but smothering the friend will just feed the moping. I would class what Thor's mother did as tough love but done correctly

Like: what about Daniel? What about Bucky? "I'm with you till the end of the line"? Ya'll telling me that Steve always choosed Bucky (tHAT WAS THE POINT OF CIVIL WAR) to just abandon him?

    I can't... but Bucky's sad face just n O

Man this movie still hits me hard every time I watch it. Everything we've watched in the past 12 years... I honestly feel you have to at least have followed most of the journey to feel the emotion. And when you ended with 3000 wins. Even though it's just you talking about how great this movie is along with building on the MCU past, it hits perfect ending on him saying it back to her. Love you and your continued push for cinema appreciation.

Was just an terrible joke to make at the God of Thunder's expense because Hemsworth doesn't care about the 'person' he's portraying and likes dumb humor in all of his roles. Nobody else cared enough to keep it out. But trying to equate this super-hero movie with real life Depression and/or PTSD is just as dumb a joke. Thor could have been JUST as sad and beaten down without being The Fat Lebowski. In fact he would have been more believable if he'd gotten leaner and more tortured. But that wouldn't have been funny. Not that it was funny. Also, trying to add emotional depth to everything is a sign of something missing. Hint, hint.

EDIT: Oh, also. YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP! YOU'RE NOT QUALIFIED TO TREAT PEOPLE FOR DEPRESSION AND/OR PTSD!!! STOP!

Never noticed Thanos’ armpit hair when Wanda is shredding his armour apart. Does he use deodorant? And in IW we clearly see five o’clock-shadow. Does he shave? Why? How? Does he look cool with a beard? (I bet). Does he need Uru metal razors to shave? Imagine how impractical it is to shave that wrinkly chin. Did he shave after IW, considering he doesn’t have a beard when the Avengers kill him in the beginning of Endgame? Does he pee and poo like humans? Imagine if he was on the toilet when they attacked him in the beginning of Endgame. That would’ve been extremely awkward. Having him in a chokehold, holding on to both of his arms while his pants are down, mid-shit. Banner emerging from underneath the toilet, instead of the fireplace, covered in Thanos-poo. I’m glad he was just making his soup.

I just want to say something about Thor and trauma. You are so right that tough love really doesn't work. But coddling and continual sympathy can be worse. Nobody wants to be constantly reminded that they have eperienced trauma. While they know their life will never be the same, all they want is normalcy. His "family" needs some semblance of normalcy as well, having experienced much of the same trauma, so they choose to engage with him the way they always have, by busting his chops and being snarky. They include him in the time heist because they believe he needs to be there and that he will have their backs when necessary. He's not very helpful in the planning but they keep him engaged anyway and try to hide how sad and horrified they are. When Rhoady makes the cheese whiz comment Thor finally reacts, where before he hadn't. That was when he became present. When Tony tells him he is not in shape to do the snap and he accepts it, I don't think it is because he still lacks confidence. He knows he's worthy because the hammer came to him, but Tony's sincere honesty in that moment made him have to admit to himself that he was a mess. Admitting there is a problem is the first step. If Tony had treated him like he was fragile with pandering and sympathy, Thor may not have listened to him. Instead he makes the first choice that puts him on the road to recovery by stepping aside.

What I love about what Marvel did with Tony Stark is how they got me attatched to him, even though the only three movies I've seen with him in it weren't any of the Iron Man movies or Avengers movies pre-Infinty War. They were Spiderman: Homecoming, Infinty War, and Endgame. Those three movies alone, especially the latter two, were enough to get me attatched and have a genuine emotional reaction to Tony's death. The same goes, though on different levels, with other characters whose movies (or at least most of which) I've never seen. Marvel just has this way of pulling you in. You don't even need the context of previous movies in the franchaise. I haven't seen any Thor movies pre-Ragnorok, but He's still one of my favorite characters. I haven't seen any Hulk or Captain America movies, but I still find them both hilarious and awesome.

I actually was wondering... You know this is the main universe we've watched, but what if Cap never did come back from the alternate timeline? Hear me out, what if this same thing has happened in every possible universe to a degree. What if the Cap who brings back the shield and gives it to Sam is actually a different Cap from a different timeline that also beat his Thanos, lived with this universe's Peggy (which accounts for all the hidden details about her husband), and then sat down at the bench waiting for Sam. That would account for why when Hulk tried to bring him back he didn't show up. Remember, the time travel suits brought you back to the exact same spot at the same time you left. He never came back. Our Cap is living his life with Peggy and going to the park to give another Sam his shield. That's my theory anyway.

@magnum_cx 😀 that is true, I have trouble getting them to watch older movies I like, but I don't always watch the movies they like. We've decided to give each other a list of movies we love and think the others should watch. My list is getting very long. I suggest you start them when they are young by popping them in between cartoons. And read them comic books in between Dr. Seuss.

One detail I really like was the during the fight between Nat and Clint. When they started to fight, all I could think was "But you can't jump! So, technically, he did sacrifice her rather than her throwing herself to death
