I’m really sad for her. She was an innocent girl before but she fell to be victim every time she forgave anyone including that witch who killed khal drogo so she gets bitter every time she tried to give mercy, but someone else has to die.

Funny how where Jon and Dany ended up reflects where they started in the first place.
You know, people always said Dany got everything handed to her and just lucked out. But then I suppose Jon earned the right to be raised by Mr. Perfect while Dany was left with Viserys’s abuse, which just makes people more likely to become violent themselves. I suppose Jon, like 90% of the main characters on this show, earned the right to grow up in a stupid castle while Dany grew up fearing for her life. I suppose Jon earned the right to not have to live life hunted as a Targaryen, like he should have been, instead of in the safety of Winterfell. I suppose Jon earned the right to only be better than his brothers in the Nights Watch because he got the chance at formal training in Winterfell while most of the others hadn’t picked up a sword in their life before coming to the wall. I suppose Jon earned the right to be resurrected, for a prophecy he had such a minimal role in, any more than the rest of the Starks who died terrible deaths and didn’t deserve it. I suppose Jon had the right to ride Rhaegal after *Dany* put in all the hard work taming him and earning his respect.
Not at all like Daenerys who “got everything handed to her.” Kinda like how she got the dragon eggs handed to her after she got raped to consummate the marriage that got her the dragons in the first place. Kinda like when she had to spend her time *earning* her dragons’ respect instead of having it spoon fed to her. Kinda like when she used her wits and cunning in Astapor to secure the Unsullied against her wiser advisors’ council. Kinda like when she had to kill the other Khals without the help of her stupid dragons in order to secure the Dothraki. Kinda like when Dany proved she is not afraid to pick up a sword and stand her ground, instead of hiding behind a rock, should her dragons prove unavailable. Yeah, Dany has never earned anything like good old Jonny Boy has.🙄😒
But yes, let’s give one of the show’s best characters not only one of the crappiest beginnings, but the stupidest ending of all time to top it all off, making the entire journey in between all but pointless. Because brutality and insanity mean the same thing, which is why people like Tywin Lannister were known as Mad as well, right? Because Dany has always been the kind of person to go around killing kids and not the one who locked up her dragons the second she even *thought* one of them did exactly that, right? Because completely throwing away a gray character’s redeemable qualities just to make their dark side seem flashier makes total sense since all gray characters go dark for good in the end, right? What utter garbage.

How can you really destroy this character? She is the rightful qween of the seven kingdoms!
She is Daenerys Stormborn of house Targaryen, The First of Her Name, Qween of the Andals, the Rhoynar and the First Man, Lady of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm, Lady of Dragonstone , Qween of Meereen, Khaleesi of the Gread Grass See, the Unburnt, Breaker of Chains and a Mother of Three Dragons.
We all see how she break the chains of the slaves, how she takes of the rich and gives to the poor. She can really make the world a better place.
    They call her "mother"!!!
She give them a chance to bend the knee, or die!
All that she wants is to free the world of all bad. Yeah, may be Arya kill the Night King, but let's think a little. If Daenerys didn't help the Starks with her 3 Armys and 3 Dragons, they will be dead in season 7, all of them! She even saved John Snow and that's how she lost one of her child, one of her Dragons. She tried to protect the Braion, and all that she want for return was only to trust her.
All of all I want to say, that if the HBO or whoever destroy her, and turns her in a Mad Queen, I really sorry that I spent so many years in waiting for the next episode of GOT !
Danny if you ever read this comment, I really love you in Game of Thrones!

Nice comment. The people turned her into the Mad Queen. Especially Jon because he is scared of her. He doesn't want to be with her which makes he furious, then Tyrion and Varys betrayed her. Cersei kill Missandei. I think tonight will be calm because she knows the thrones is hers or what is left of it. I just hope she doesn't die by Arya or Jon

Has anyone read the books? I see alotta ppl complaining about her descent into madness. Did this happen in the book? Did she destroy kings landing like this? I wanna read the book but Idk if I can stomach reading the stuff in the show in more details lol. I must admit tho Dany has been my fav and I'm heartbroken if she doesn't become a good queen.

    • Danica Jekic
      Danica Jekic 52 minutes ago

Alexandra Sanders eh, it’s not that unusual in anime circles tbh. They write their own ending, the manga finishes, and then if it’s still popular enough 8 years down the line then they remake the anime with a more accurate storyline.
GRRM published the last main book in 2011 if I remember correctly, and since then he’s done some work on the show, he wrote a few prequels that I haven’t had time to read (one of which was specifically about the Targaryen dynasty), and he’s working on the next book now.
It’s super slow, but I’m not even judging him, I’m just excited for the next one. Each book has been like 1000 pages, and within that you’re always reading like four or five novels at once. The current manuscript for the next book has something like 1500 pages!
I wouldn’t recommend holding your breath. Again, huge investment to read this series. It hits many of the same beats as the show, but in a lot of places you’ll find it meanders like the Illiad.

    • Alexandra Sanders
      Alexandra Sanders 5 hours ago

+Danica Jekic Wow. Now I deftly wanna read. But I really want the entire series to be done first. Odd they'd make a show from an unfinished series. How long has it been since the last book ? I'm hearing it's been awhile. Maybe the author got writer's block. But the tv show creators finished it for him. Will be interesting to see what the book series does.

    • Danica Jekic
Danica Jekic 8 hours ago +1

Alexandra Sanders the books (so far) have only gotten to the end of season 5 (Dany being found by the Dothraki). The story plays out in some different and subtle ways (and some characters involved add some depth and tell me that the last stretch of the series will be far more complex than the show), but Dany’s arc in Meereen is even more crucial there in how it comes to signal her choice to pursue a darker, more destructive path. Sooooo...it’ll be years before the series is over (if it ever ends), but going by the material we’ve got now, there’s no particular harm in reading them if you’ve got time. They’re still incredibly well written and only a little less racist and sexist than the show.
I started reading the books when season 5 came out, and while they ironically contributed to Sansa becoming my new favourite character, I really like the extra depth they gave to Dany. You get more insight into her childhood, how she feels ruling Meereen, her romanticization of her cruel Targaryen ancestors (Jorah’s wedding gift serves a purpose this time!), her cultural disconnect with the people of Slaver’s Bay, and the very real consequences of the harm she did to the cities and people in them.
Tbh I don’t know if you want to hear this from someone who was on board with the Dark!Dany plot twist, but my biggest problem with the show’s portrayal is that even in early seasons they framed a lot of her more heinous actions in an unironically heroic and badass light (around season 6 the scenes take on a noticeably darker tone but by then everyone’s already accustomed to defending her so that ends up being moot...and then the romance is like a big wall that gets in the way of her progression and Jon’s). The books make much more of an effort to show her inner darkness. Like...for a while she actually regrets the slaughter in Astapor, and when messengers tell her that she created a power vacuum that got filled by some guy called “the butcher omg,” she’s actually really shaken. But by the end of that very same book, she resolves to stop regretting the things she’s done and keep moving forward towards Westeros, implying that she’s perfectly happy leaving those people behind. And that was really disturbing to me.
Long story short, idk if it’s worth it to read the books for Daenerys alone. Not only is the series a huge investment (I’m a fast reader and it takes me at least a month per book), but it doesn’t present Daenerys in a better light than the show, and actively shows the more...uncomfortable aspects of her characterization, and her choice to become a conqueror. Many of the fans who called Mad Queen Daenerys years ago were book fans to begin with (though I pray to god that the books make it clear that she’s perfectly sane). I would not be surprised if she burns down KL in the books and it’s framed as a war crime and unnecessary slaughter, but the circumstances will be very different. You gotta pick your poison. GRRM isn’t giving anyone a true happy ending, he’s just making the journey a bit more complicated.

Smmh, best ruler still was Robert left the ruling to his advisors. He also new nothing, so what did he do: Nothing, and leave the ruling to his advisors. Only fault here in was that LF was a homeless hungry rat. And Varys new it, but kept him for sports... Everyone else just wanted power/subjects Cersei, LF Danaerys, Joff, Marg. Tywin new what was up and didn't want to parcipate anymore, that's why he left and eventually send Tyrion and threatened to leave. Danny's story was known from the start... Her dad was mad, her brother was mad, her mom went mad... Its nature vs nurture (both being mad). Her story would not have been a happy ending and was written from the start... The stallion who mounts the world (Drogon), in the house of undying she was told that she was dangerous etc etc...Every " semi greenseerer" saw the same, madness 🤔. This gets a person thinking.
So I end this by asking D&D to give us the fat king back.

Maybe if we all watch this really closely, we can see hints of her slowly descending into madness. She's an amazing character. I have so much empathy and appreciation for what she's been through, and she's one of my favourites, but I was not the least bit surprised about what she did in the 8th season. Her rule over the kingdoms became her entire identity. She was always meant to be the mad queen. This was not some random decision made by the writers. Pay attention!!

Jesus Christ..i hate how dirty they’re treating Dany this season.

Let’s recap some key moments of Dany's journey, please:

1 - “I am daenerys stormborn of house targaryen, of the blood of old valyria. I am the dragon’s daughter.” (1x10).

Every time her titles are recited or she says her name with her whole chest, it’s a reminder of who she is and she finds strength in that.

2 - “I fought besides the last dragon [rhaegar] that day,” ser barristan said. “he wasn’t the last dragon,” daenerys replied. (3x03).

Her whole family was wiped out. yet she’s a survivor in every sense of the word and has carried house targaryen on her shoulders since then.

3 - “We’ve both known what is to lead people who aren’t inclined to accept a woman’s rule and we’ve both done a good job of it.” (8x02).

Dany tells Sansa that she is proud of being a woman who’s been underestimated by many and has proved every single one of them wrong.

4 - “I spent my life in foreign lands. So many men have tried to kill me, I don’t remember all their names.I have been sold like a broodmare. I’ve been chained and betrayed, raped and defiled. Do you know what kept me standing, through all those years in exile? Faith. Not in any god, not in myths and legends. In myself. In Daenerys Targaryen”. (7x03)

Everything she has accomplished with nothing but the faith she has in herself.
I can't put in enough words how much Dany means to me and helped me in very different moments of my life..She is the most interesting and complext character that i had the pleasure to follow the entire journey for almost a decade..
So, fuck D & D for all this mess. They are destroying the entire development of the most popular character in GoT universe..the show wouldn't have the huge sucess that it has without Dany and her dragons..so, Whatever happens i will always support her to the very end. And thank you very much for this video! Dany will always have us!

I will say one thing, no matter what happens in the finale, I want Daenerys to do one more thing.
I want her to have a real Walter White moment, and to show everyone that she is and has always been perfectly sane, and to show everyone exactly who they had been rooting for.
I want Jon (or Tyrion) to ask her, his voice breaking “why did you do it? Don’t tell me you did it to win the battle.”
And I want Daenerys to reply
“I did it for me. I liked it. I was good at it, and I was alive.”

+Danica Jekic True.. Idk Jon or even Arya killing her would be so typical. Her sitting on the iron throne is also a terrible ending.
The only good thing would be what you said, she realizes she speeded up the "horrid wheel" and gives the throne to someone else or up.
Well, well, well this is not going to happen!! Still 2 days to wait 😅

    • Danica Jekic
      Danica Jekic 6 days ago

+Kathi Katha That would be pretty cool (tbh I just want the states to split up by the end of this shitshow. Then my girl can finally be queen in the north). I mean I'd be alright with Jon doing it as long as it's not too soap opera-y. Tyrion won't do it and idk what Arya's planning. My only real hope is that Dany finally comes to realize that she has no one left to blame. Because burning KL? That was not breaking the wheel, not the way she wanted it. That was just mass murder to stick it to the people who (in her eyes) wronged her. And she needs to finally understand that this quest for power that has dominated her life has only caused destruction and emptiness.

    • Kathi Katha
      Kathi Katha 6 days ago

+Danica Jekic i hope she abolishes KL (it's destroyed now anyway) and explains that as part of "breaking the wheel". It does not make so much sense either, still better than:
Jon killing her. This would be a super boring and typical ending after so many exiting and unexpected plot twists.
And hyping Arya extremely high after already killing the NK, please not. 😟
Arya was my favourite character then it became Danny. She has/d visions to build a better world.
Sansa is just full of grief, Jon super boring like an old man who died inside after fighting too many horrible wars.. and Arya also looks kind of dead inside, too, after all she has been through.
Danny, I always had the feeling she was never broken and still dreamed of making the world a better place.. (maybe I'm wrong though after episode 5, just my own view 😂😅 ). She still was in love, wanting to do something good, e.g. how she legitimized Gendry or gave hope to the slaves.
Except for burning the innocent she would be the perfect ruler for me. You need some ruthlessness to survive in a world like hers, where people like Varys betray her. Until episode 5 she had all these qualities to a good extent for a world like Westeros.

Kathi Katha of course it is. But she needs to own up to it now. Cersei and half of KL are dead. She certainly doesn’t get to blame Sansa this time.

Yeah! Still really like Danny’s rise..she always had someone behind her whether it be Jorah or Ser Barriston and Mesandi.. the scene where she beheaded the slave and all the slaves hissed, she was trying to liberate but that went wrong, maybe with all her anger she thought the Westeros people will all hate her too and will always have to deal with rebellions against her..anyway.. might as well kill em all if they don’t support her. Or she just went mad. Was nice to see the rise. Thanks you

In the midst of the ongoing hatred, let's try and analyse the episode.
Before we begin, here's the exchange between Ned Stark and Robert Baratheon.
Ned Stark: You will dishonor yourself forever if you do this.
Robert Baratheon: Honor?! I've got Seven Kingdoms to rule! One King, Seven Kingdoms! Do you think honor keeps them in line?! Do you think it's honor that's keeping the peace?! IT'S FEAR! FEAR AND BLOOD!
I found many symbolism and parallels in this episode.
Let's start with the name of this episode, The Bells. This name rings a bell (Yep) for those who knows their history.
Battle of the Bells was the decisive battle which shifted the odds in Robert's favor during his rebellion, many believe Battle of Trident to be the game changer, although it was, but Battle of the bells marked the beginning of the end for Targaryen Dynasty.
    How things came full circle.
A Lannister sacked the city and ultimately ended the Targaryen Dynasty, now a Targaryen sacked the city and ended the Lannister Dynasty.
Pycelle manipulated Aerys into opening the gates for Tywin Lannister, meaning the gates weren't breached but opened from the inside.
Dany blew those same gates from the inside.
Why was Cersei's death both satisfactory and perfect.?
I will answer that soon, but first let's talk about the elephant (Yep) in the room.
    The sack of Kingslanding.
Was it premeditated? Nope. Not at all.
When Tyrion told her about the bells, she genuinely wanted to go with that, that's what she ordered Greyworm to do.
    So what happened.?
    Bells happened.
While she was on that rooftop waiting for the bells, she had every intention of leaving things at that, but when the bells began to rang she took a trip down the memory lane.
(Hats off to Emilia Clarke for such an intense and incredible performance)
Upon hearing those bells and staring at the red keep, she imagined the horror her family and her brother's family must have felt during the sack of Kingslanding, the terror in which Elia Martell was, the screams of little Rhaenys and baby Aegon who had no idea what was happening, then mountain came, crushed Aegon's head into a pulp, stabbed Rhaenys while Elia was watching and then raped her while the brain matter of her son was still on his hands, and then killed her as well.
(This is why Cersei's death was so perfect, the horror Tywin inflicted upon Rhaegar's family came upon his own family, especially on those whom he favoured the most, the terror and horror in Cersei's eyes for her baby, as well as with Jamie was similar to what Elia and her kids went through).
After that Dany remembered everything that happened because of the rebellion, losing their home, begging on the streets, all those who died from Willem darry to Missandei, from silver to Rhaegal. And what did she get in return? Complete distrust and fear.
So if they fear her despite doing the good, then yes, Let it be fear.
She is not mad, what madness is for other people is a regular Monday for a Targaryen.
I told this a few times before maybe others did as well, Cersei did turn the city into a trap, if Dany had accepted the surrender, she would have blown up the city with the wildfire caches that we saw exploding during the episode.
Kingslanding was ground zero, and people chose to be in that place, they chose Cersei who hid behind a curtain during the Great war, while Dany literally fought the threat with her own hands.
Also many who died in that fire were soldiers as well.
She is a khaleesi and Dothraki follow those who can instill fear among their subject, a wise ruler should inspire a little fear, that's what Tyrion said.
Take a look at the history and you will see what a weak and gullible ruler ends up having at his doorstep.
Speaking about Greyworm, Dany had many loyal people with her, be it Jorah, Selmy, Naharis or Missandei. But Greyworm topped them all.
Like I said, the sack wasn't premeditated, so as soon as Dany began her assault, Greyworm quickly followed without hesitating, that was quite a moment.
    About Cersei and valonqar prophecy.
"When your tears have drowned you,(she was crying profusely) the valonqar shall wrap his hands (Jamie was embracing her) about your pale white throat (what happens when you are terrified to your bone thinking about your imminent death, you do turn pale white) and choke the life from you.”(the ruble wouldn't have killed her instantly, it's possible she died a painful death gasping to breath).
In S7 we had this conversation between Dany and Olenna.
"Dany : I am not here to be queen of the ashes.
Lady Olenna : I can't remember a queen who was better loved than my granddaughter . . . and what is left of her now? Ashes. Commoners, nobles, they're all just children, really. They won't obey you unless they fear you."
It's not that Dany forgot what she said here like some memes are suggesting, she just chose not to take the overrated moral high ground, instead she chose to heed Olenna's realistic advice.
    Then we had this part.
"Olenna: Peace never lasts, my dear. Will you take a bit of advice from an old woman?
I've known a great many clever men. I've outlived them all. You know why? I ignored them. The lords of Westeros are sheep. Are you a sheep? No. You're a dragon. Be a dragon."
She became a dragon soon after this with Field of Fire and Tarly's execution, but her mistake was that she again went back to the morally correct advices of Tyrion and Varys and Jon, that's what costed her the most.
Someone else should have died instead of Olenna, things would have been better a long time ago.
Better late than never, Dany finally accepted her dragon part.
I will end this with one quick fact.
During the onset of Robert's rebellion, Hoster Tully burned villages to the ground when they refused to betray the Targaryens.
    #FireAndBlood all the way

Kathi Katha oh, no doubt. As the saying goes, all’s fair in love and war. My point is that the battle was over, she gave them an ULTIMATUM rather than a choice, and then burned them alive. Sure, other characters have done similarly cruel shit, but they don’t have dragons and I don’t want them to be on the throne either.

+Danica Jekic let's not judge GoT from today's world perspective, it fantasy.. then you can judge the whole show as disgusting and unrealistic. 🤣
War crimes are still way different than killing innocent people. If I fight for a side I have to bear the consequences. If people are purely innocent and killed this is a purely different thing. The Tarlys had a choice, the people in KL not. See what I mean?

+TheLumberjack And in the end, fear was what she chose because no one would give her the love she wanted. Not saying any of her later arc was handled perfectly, but I think a lot of people missed the Tarlys as a sign of what was to come. And that's because the narrative had created this preconceived notion that the Tarlys were dicks so we would be ok when they died. That was a mistake, in my eyes (though it motivated Sam to tell Jon the truth...)
In retrospect, if she had burned...say, two young (16-18 year old) frightened Lannister soldiers, would you have seen it differently?

Have you ever heard the story of of Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen, Mother of Dragons and Queen of Ashes? It’s not a story that the stans would tell you.
It’s an old westerosi legend. Daenerys Stormborn was the one true heir to the Targaryen throne, said to be born of the flames of a dying woman, chosen by the lord of light himself to bring back the mighty dragons and the age of magic. She had such powerful children that she could use their flames to break the chains off slaves and burn their masters alive. The good people loved her for it, and called her mother. And for a time, she stayed in the great city of Meereen to let her children live in peace.
But, once she attained the peace she desired, she realized that she wanted more war. So she travelled across the narrow sea to find the it, to burn the stone houses, taste the blood of the iron-clad men, and take back her throne of swords, just as her husband had promised her.
Eventually she became so feared and powerful that the only thing she became afraid of was losing her people’s love, which eventually of course, she did. Unfortunately, she had instilled such terror into the people of Westeros that she could no longer hope to win their love. So she chose only fear and war. So when her foes laid down their swords, and the bells rang out to surrender, she chose to burn their stone houses to the ground.
It’s ironic, isn’t it? Her followers cried out for the great black dragon who would rain down fire and blood, but screamed and wept once they realized what those words actually meant.”

Around the 46 minute mark is proof Varys let her down. She told him to confront her if she ever stopped serving the realm rather than conspire behind her and he agreed. Yet, when that time occurred, he didn’t keep his promise and did in fact conspire behind her in season 8 episodes 4 & 5. Varys is a messy bitch and I’ll always love him for that fact lol..
