  • When Apple released macOS Sierra they took away our ability to install legacy versions of Adobe software, including the CS5 suite. This video provides a two stop work around that will allow you to install Photoshop, Illustrator, and all of the CS5 apps on the Sierra operating system.

The last step when you said drag the install icon onto the terminal window and push enter everything started to download until a box popped up saying "We've encountered the following issues: Installation on case-sensitive volumes is not supported. Please choose a different volume for installation." HELP!!!

I can't thank you enough. Would love to stay in touch. What was the most freedom fighting community (MAC/Adobe) is fast becoming a dystopian underground. Peace.Love.Out.

hey, when i drag the install to the terminal, it says "permission denied"... what should i do? :(

  • Chiara Mattiello

Hi, thanks for the tutorial.. the problem that I have is that the 'install' file in the MacOS folder is not executable, or at least my mac doesn't read it like that. I tried to make it executable via 'chmod +x' but still doesn't work. when I tried to drag it in the terminal it just says that I don't have the permission and also with 'sudo' doesn't change anything. Can you help me, please?
    Thanks :)

Thank you so much!! I did this in mojave after downloading it to my computer. Dragging the install to terminal and hitting enter worked. I had a couple glitches inputting my serial numbers from my adobe account and had to enter cs4 instead of cs5. Then later after the install when I went to put an image file in, it asked for a serial number again so I put the one for cs5 and it worked. Also, I downloaded it from a cc suite so it was cs5.1 and that crashes so it gives a listing for cs4 and cs5.0 as choices to open the image and I use cs5.0 which makes sense since that is what I bought and have the serial number for. I’m guessing cs5.1 is extended and I’m not sure what extended means.

Absolutely brilliant. I just updated to a iMac Pro and ran into this brick wall. Your simple and clear instructions had me up and running very quickly. The only glitch
was at 99% install the Adobe software needed Safaribookmarks turned off. Figuring that out took longer than the hack.
