  • In his second round of questioning, Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., asked about President Donald Trump's emphasis on seeking investigations into political rivals--the Bidens in particular. Bill Taylor, the top U.S. diplomat in Ukraine, restated his concern that the president cared more about investigations into Joe Biden than he did about Ukraine. Taylor also said he wanted someone to push back on the president's apparent stance on U.S. policy with Ukraine. During the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry against Trump, the House Intelligence Committee questioned Taylor and George Kent, deputy assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs. The probe centers around a July phone call in which Trump asked the president of Ukraine to investigate former vice president and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son, Hunter. Both Kent and Taylor testified to lawmakers in October behind closed doors.
