  • Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Encanto” tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an Encanto. The magic of the Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift from super strength to the power to heal-every child except one, Mirabel (voice of Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, might just be her exceptional family’s last hope.

This song is a lot like “Let it Go”: both songs about characters shedding away people’s expectations, and letting their true selves shine.

I love how in the beginning Isabella voice is a typical Disney princess. Soft and sweet but by the end she has added riffs and a but of grit into it. It shows her character development and how she's not just a pretty face.

Love This Song So Much 😍

I love how in a part of the song she's just like "careful its carnivorous" and pulls mirabel away from it.

i love this song because during the whole movie she just tried to be the perfect girl everyone expects her to be, but once she made the cactus she realized just how much more she was capable of.

My heart feels so full when Mirabel sings "you changed mine"

I love how their relationship isnt just magically fixed cause Isa admitted she was behaving for the family. Mirabel isnt really LISTENING at first, still focused on fixing the magic, but as the song goes on, and Isa pulls her up, including her in her struggle, Mirabel's focuses shifts naturally to helping Isa and THAT heals the magic. It's so subtlety done, I love iiiiiiiit

I like how despite these powers being “gifts”, they’ve come with some downsides resulting in the characters insecurities like Luisa being pressured to be mentally & emotionally strong as she is physically or the pressure Isabella feels to be as perfect as the flowers she grows. The songs come with lessons that even the strongest things can crumble and the most objectively hideously natural things are beautiful in their own way

At the beginning Mirabel is just following her to get that hug but once she listens to Isa she just gets so excited about all the stuff Isa is doing & hypes her up with unbridled enthusiasm. I really love this song, the sister vibes are so strong and supportive. (❤️ U little sister)

It's kind of neat how at first in the movie Isabella's power has seemingly no practical application beyond looking pretty, and in this scene suddenly it's contrasted with just how powerful being able to create and grow any kind of plant really is.

I really love their laugh at the end after Isa said “You’re a bad influence.” It reminds me of the moments of me and my brothers laughing together. I really miss those moments and would definitely love to have more of it.

“It’s not symmetrical or perfect but it’s beautiful and it’s mine. What else can I do?” Truly words to live by.

This song is the PERFECT (no pun intended) representation of what it’s like to finally be free from a reputation.

I think no one really noticed one little thing and it is when, while singing, Isabella tells Mirabel "careful it's carnivorous" and help her getting up. I know it's just part of the song but I love how Isabella herself helps Mirabel and let her enter in her feelings somehow instead of pushing her away as always. And that moment also marks the turning point of the song and to their sister bond. Idk if u understand what I mean but I just love that moment. <3

I love the contrast in this song and her part “we don’t talk about Bruno” because her part in that song is very beautiful but simple, just like how everyone sees her and even in the beginning of this song but as it goes on you hear more emotion and dynamic in her singing and combined with the music it’s not simple and it’s not perfect but it’s beautiful in a way that’s completely different from the rest of the movie. You can hear her letting go of her perfect imagine and just letting herself come through. It’s an incredible song.

I love how this song shows that people you think who are perfect in every way don't want to be perfect all the time.

This song really shows that nothing, and nobody is perfect - You always have to have just one flaw, either minor or major, but of you want to be perfect, you’ll have to hide that, which is creating more emotional stress, and you want to let it out, but you can’t, because you want to be perfect, you want to get amazing grades, be beautiful all the time, and have an amazing personality. And this song can also show that Isabela was studying flowers and other plants, as the way she names them, such as “A hurricane of Jacarandas, Strangling Figs, Hanging Vines!” And much more. You know, this woman is basically a nature goddess - if a species was going extinct because it had no more plants to eat, Isabela could make those plants - She could save entire ecosystems, actually, but Abuela is just making her the pretty girl who creates roses.
