I remember my 3 years living and loving Japan from 81- 84, not much has changed, except for the advances in 'every technology'. Yes, these existed way back then, and we're considered advanced, except for those even older. But, when you are standing there, and for some reason there's not a single restaurant in sight.
Okay, try, Cheese and Olive, restaurant.. :) a dried bouquet of roses hangs on the wall, and the sandwiches were great! If it's still there near Fussa City, on Ome Line!
    I should Google it?

(Here's me in Japan banging on a ciggy machine at 11:15 at night. "You were *so close!* *bangbang.* *Why do you have a vending machine that *closes?!" :) (We used to have those in bars in America, actually, only each brand had this handle on a rod you had to pull out with some force like you were simultaneously playing pinball and flooding torpedo tubes.Mind you, I love mechanical things, but I always thought that was a bit much for a product that weighs maybe two ounces. I guess that was just how they kept children from getting them, but when I was that age they were still around, my grandmother would have me go get them anyway. :)

Hey John I knew that this video was out there and that it’s a little older but our local news in Cincinnati Ohio (not to be punny but yeah I know what Ohio means in Japanese) had something on and I copied this videos web link into my Twitter account and sent it to them because the story was about the new coffee Coca-Cola in a can which I know Japan has had for a while now. Our AM newsman seemed to like your informative video! Maybe it will get you a few more American subscribers! Thanks John, love those vids!

Here in Brazil you will have a lot of trouble finding these vending machines even inside stores, which kind of defeats the purpose of having them in the first place, to be honest it seems really expensive even thought it's convenient. That pack of bananas was almost 12 dollars, but i guess without taking in account how much money the japanese make you can't really compare how expensive something is by switching the currency on it's own.

You need a very disciplined culture to be able to have a vending machine business like this. Most countries, the kids, homeless, thugs/thieves would destroy all these machines. Plus without discipline, security, police and daily maintenance, this won't work out. I guess it is fun to visit. In reality this won't work in most countries.
