The Ingenious Half H Puzzle - Always one piece too much!

  • Published on Feb 2, 2018
  • The task is simple. Use the seven parts to build the letter H. The solution requires creativity and thinking outside of the box. A really great puzzle!

I think the problem here in the comments is that people are not really understanding the name of the puzzle.
It is not called "The Ingenious H Puzzle" it is called "The Ingenious HALF H Puzzle".
'HALF' is the key word clue here to its correct solution.
If you took two of these puzzles and placed them facing together along the sloping 'H' plane what would you get?
You'd get an 'H' shaped block.
You can argue until you are blue in the face that "if you look at it from a certain angle you CAN'T TELL it is an 'H' shaped block" but it still IS one.
This puzzle is HALF of an 'H'.

or....take the upper left piece and turn if face down, than fill the space with the 'extra piece.
It was not specified that the sides be equal and if you want to play with them, you can come very close.

More of a bar trick than a puzzle, really. If the idea is just to make something that looks like an H from *_some_* angle, I can think of a dozen other solutions that also work. For example: just build the H as first shown in the video, put the left over piece on top of that, then look at it directly from above; there, "it looks like an H from this angle". Neither the instructions nor the puzzle title give any indication that the 45º slanted H is the "correct" (or intended) solution.

  • Frank Castle

This is a super fucking terrible pizzle.
If it's all about perspective he could easily just take the H he did at 0:20 and put the last piece on top of it and look at it from the top. Same logic as the actual solution.
I'd be so pissed if I would buy this and find out this is the actual solution.

Or you could keep it the same way as in the begginng and just put the triangle on top of the h and it will blend in

I understand the logic being used but to be frank this felt like a cheap payoff to a big mystery. It’s like reading the headline “how mother murdered child” only to find out she called the babysitter and when the babysitter was talking to the mother the child happened to choke on a toy and die because the mother was distracting her through the conversation.
It’s the solution. But I feel like I’d be asking myself “who thought this was a good idea” instead of shouting “YES GOT IT”

This is a good and difficult to solve puzzle but I can’t help but wonder what use it has once you know the solution. Sure, you can show it to friends and have them try to figure out the solution, but it’s not like you’re just gonna be like, “Oh hey, I’m gonna go get my Half H puzzle out and solve it now.” No. There’s absolutely no fun in it once you know the solution!
