Just a test of the GH5S and Leica 12mm f/1.4. Walking, talking and using Face Detect. Will it pass the test? Hmmmm.

I have a G9 that I got for half the price I guess they have the same AF structure anyway, slow AF with a 15mm PanaLeica at 1.7 using Face/Eye detect AF and AFS. On other hand with the same settings aside from being at F2.8 and 12mm the Panasonic 12-35 II AF works really good.

It’s a shame about the autofocus as those colors are beautiful. Very cinematic, even at 8-bit.

I use the af on gh5 all the time after the few update its very good. I think your sunglasses reflection was the problem, ot]r the lense you used. I can tell you with the llatest versions on did lenses it works very well

I had the exact same thought as Miguel, it’s a long shot, but could it be your rather large sunglasses throwing the AF out? Regards, Dazza. 🇬🇧

Well it worked during the walk without any issues, while wearing glasses. I also have a ton of video without glasses indoor, using lighting where it just can to lock on and stay on. So I d not think so. Sony works perfectly with glasses or any kind as well. After this video, I tried to shoot something last night with these settings and it failed miserably, so I would say this is not a fix as it's the same. Panasonic needs to improve their AF, badly. At the end of the day, well, this morning, I decided to just stick with Sony, as these are literally not reliable at all for any kind of AF with video. Manual focus, they are beautiful. But I can not make excuses for a camera that can not lock on and stay on, even in bright conditions. The funny thing is, the Hs is a tad better than the standard GH5 I have here. With the latest firmware.

Just wait 3 months and get new Canon mirror less or Sony A7siii... The A7iii is the best we got at the moment. But a Canon mirror less with Dual focus, 4k, Canon colors and also a decent codec will be unbeatable. Personally id prefer to watch a vlog with smoother IBIS then better low light ability.

The Sony A7 iii has poor build quality & bad touch screen

I have a gh5(not S).. after firmware updated it is improved.. but this camera is still just like a cat
One minute its your best friend the next its nipping at you.. they do work well enough though (gh5 not cats) in my opinion for vlog, sometimes user input is necessary when it's being catlike, tap my face to force focus then tap screen again to put back in face detect mode

Did you install the current GH5s firmware 1.1?

Yes both of the camera I have here have the latest FW. The GH5 and S. The GH5 is a tad slower and even worse.
