This We'll Defend with Director's Commentary

  • We are excited to launch We Stand Ready, our daily virtual concert series. Although we can't be on tour and are not able to perform concerts at this time, we look forward to streaming live and pre-recorded content each day to connect with you - our online audience!
Join Col. Jim Keene, Master Sgt. Brian Sacawa, and Sgt. 1st Class Teresa Alzadon as the Concert Band and Soldiers' Chorus present stories of those who answered the call to service, remember the heroes of our past, and honor those who stand guard today. Let us know what you think of this special re-broadcast of "This We'll Defend" with Director's Commentary.

This is an outstanding performance! Very helpful in getting through these troubling times in a better state of mind. Thank you! One question, what is the name of the piece played that starts at 22:10?

Fantastic! Such great musicianship both vocal and instrumental! These soldiers remind all of us of the great heritage that we have received and cherish. They give us courage to go forward in its defense by their presence on the stage and inevitably in the ears of their audiences. This is especially true in difficult times. They are not just "Goodwill Ambassadors". They are the musical soul of the freedom that founded this Republic. I am proud of them!

My DD was the radio man for the 10th Mountain 1944-1946 Po Valley, Italy. Dad had recieved a coffee can of cookies from my grandmother which he had in his backpack. Dad was shot but the can of cookies took the round saving him from injury. Among Dad's thinks I found an original Order of the Day 5/3/ 1945 announcing an end to the war signed by Harry S. Truman.
