The Sphaera Puzzle

  • Published on Jun 3, 2017
  • The Sphaera Puzzle is a good example of a dexterity puzzle! It's quite a bit harder than it looks! With beautiful inlaid wood, it's a really nice looking puzzle!

If you spin it clockwise it comes back to the beginning...but what if you spin it counterclockwise...will the balls come to the center!??

If you can reset the puzzle by spinning it clockwise, why can't you "solve"it by spinning the other direction? Seems to me the balls will just as easily slip INTO a ring as out of one!

    How to beat this puzzle:
    1. Get a Magnet
    2. Move the Bearings towards the Center using the Magnet

      FLEB awesome :)

    • FLEB
      FLEB  Year ago +1

It's an item with mixed status benefits. So while it will give you +2 dexterity, it will temporarily reduce your patience stat by -3, although that goes away over time, but the -75 to the wallet stat is permanent. Additionally, it can add +1 to wisdom, but it depends on how you use it. Eventually, though, it adds +1 to your satisfaction stat, which is worth it in the end!

take a pair of tweesers aand move the ball the way you want by blocking off one side and going around cheating? maybe but that's how I would do it I'm not patient enough for stuff like that.

    • FLEB
      FLEB  Year ago

You can solve the puzzle however you want! The intended solution is to find a way to move them all to the center without using outside tools (which is challenging), but I'm a big believer in not telling people how to have fun. This is for entertainment, after all!

Congrats on 100k dude! Is this puzzle in two pieces? I could see it being made, maybe, on a lathe. But it would be a lot easier if it were a top (the rings) and a bottom, (the base).

    • FLEB
      FLEB  Year ago +1

Looking at the puzzle in front of me, it looks like the base is a separate piece, and each ring has been made separately. The rings have a slight slant to them, which I think it what keeps the metal balls inside!

    TVFILMBUFF Year ago

I was kinda hoping that there would be a fantastical solution such as a reverse of the 'reset' maneuver. That would have been phenomenal.

      TVFILMBUFF Year ago

Obviously it's not going to be an inverted centrifugal force pulling the balls inwards...I was thinking more along the lines of the centrifugal force opening/moving the gate positions revealing a secret path to the inner sanctum.

    • FLEB
      FLEB  Year ago

Unfortunately, there's no move that I know of that generates inward force. If you spin something, the force will always be outwards. That would have been cool, though!
