@TRT Community What what? 23 gauge for the buttocks admin but 18 gauge for drawing from the vial?? It's not the same needle to draw and butt? Ha. Now confused. I was a little miffed with 200 mg for the month, with an eval after 3 months. I suspect I will need more. Oh, I'm aiming for the 6-800 range. As for the timing, I'm keeping sharp notes, and I REALLY APPRECIATE your input, thank you!

    • TRT Community
      TRT Community  Month ago +1

@Mark Wagner If you're going to do an intramuscular injection you'll need a 1" needle. I use a 23 gauge and I inject in my glute. Weekly is the way to go as it keeps your levels in the middle range better. Don't forget to request some drawing needles (18gauge I believe) to get the T from the vial (it's thick).
Injecting every 2 weeks messed with my emotions, because testosterone cypionate peaks in your system 48 hours after injection, then slowly decreases. Well, by day 11-12 my emotions were all over the place. I had MANY guys comment and recommend weekly. Voila, that fixed it, and I've been injecting weekly ever since.

@TRT Community 1200 is pretty high, and there are physical costs to that, not sure you're understanding the long term picture?? Okay, check this: I just today received my first script, and I'm a tad bummed with it. I'm 5'11" 220 serious lifter, seriously cardio fit yet need to drop 20, exercising 5-6 days a week for over 30 years. My T level has not been above 230 tested 6 or so times in 15 years. I have enough personal drive of that of 10 healthy men, but I'm curious about life in the normal range? My doctor gave me 200 mg to be administered every 4 weeks. What what!?! To be evaluated following 3 months. UGH. I'm going to split that up and take it every 2 weeks. My question is how easy is it to administer even under 50mg, and what needles to use?? [I might wish to make it every week??]

    • TRT Community
      TRT Community  Month ago +1

@Mark Wagner That's a good question. I don't actually know, as my doctor just has me come in to get my blood checked every six months. He then makes adjustments accordingly. It's time for me to get it checked again, but the last two times we've checked it was 1300 then 1200. Not sure what the base is. I use a general practice doctor and not a specialist. He's pretty basic in his care for me. Wish I could help more, my friend.

Well I finally got to the doctor and got my testosterone levels checked. I wasn't feeling a lot of the symptoms you mentioned but I was having some of them. My testosterone is at 300. Which from my general practitioners viewpoint is normal. But but I disagree. I'm 44 by the way. I'll probably be moving on to a trt clinic in my area at this point. Your RUclip channel has helped me a lot and I appreciate it. oh and if you had employed deadlift and squats in your routine I bet your muscle gains would be much better.

54 and interested in TRT. have not done blood work yet. i understand that once started it cannot be stopped ? my question is some body builder types take ungodly amounts of testosterone. then they stop at some point. how can they stop and not an individual on low dose TRT ? if they're was some type issue with being on TRT why couldn't it be stopped ? also big one for me is does it have to be refrigerated if dosing self ? i spend weeks in the wilderness without benefit of my fridge. if i qualify, i would request 100mg. weekly. dont want to have to use any other meds. not currently on any medications.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Hey my friend, all of us who are already on this journey have been where you are. Yes, it can be a little nerve wracking, but just be honest with your doctor. Tell him what your symptoms are, he'll draw some blood, and then get back with you about your results.
If it is low T, know this, it's not the end of the world. Thankfully, we live in a day when this is easily treatable. You'd be surprised how many guys that you rub shoulders with on a day to day basis are already on TRT and have been for years possibly. I've learned that most guys just don't talk about it. That's probably why I've gotten over 6k subscribers in a little over a year after starting my channel. Most guys research this on their own and don't ask their friends personally. Instead they go online and find guys like me who are talking about it and making videos and such.
All that to say, you're not alone. I'll be here if you have any questions or concerns along the way. We've built a nice community on this channel and usually people weigh in with helpful advice on one anthers comments.
When's your appt with the urologist?

I recently had my levels checked at 52 years old due to symptoms of low energy and anemic blood counts. My level is 415 which shows normal, but I still have issues. TRT Community Thank you for the help. I’m dealing at this very moment with urination issues. It’s keeping me awake at night, is this normal with low T? I have been dealing with this urgent need to pee at night for two years. The doctor thought it was prostate but it checked out fairly normal.

    • TRT Community
      TRT Community  2 months ago

Thanks for watching and for your question.
Most doctors you’ll visit will use a scale that says anything at 250ng/dL is considered low T. Unfortunately, you fall into that area called normal/low. Meaning you’re in the normal range but on the low end.
My doctor told me that he prescribes TRT for anyone with 300 total T or less. You may be able to test again soon and it could be lower. The numbers do fluctuate. Usually T levels are higher in the morning, lower in the afternoon/evening.
Also, you may be able to find a doctor sympathetic to your plight, even if you aren’t at 250 or less.
      Hope this helps.

Yes, low libido was one of the symptoms I was having along with low energy and mood swings/depression. In my earlier videos I mentioned low libido more than recently I guess. But yes, I noticed I didn't have a desire to be with my wife like I used to. I thought it was strange, she thought it was strange. I just thought it was part of getting closer to 40. Turns out it was low T.
After getting on TRT my energy returned first, then motivation, then libido returned.
Hope this helps some. I'll be here if you have any other questions as well.

I’ve been on trt for over 4 years now and have been anywhere from 100-140 but like yourself experienced side effects from higher doses so I’m experimenting with going back to 100mg split up into daily shots and see how it goes, thanks for getting back to me

I’ve actually gone back up to 100mg/week now. Total T (when testing mid way between injections) was 1208ng/dL. So a little high actually. Not sure what free T would be as we didn’t check for that.

    • TRT Community
      TRT Community  3 months ago

@Lakindu Sadumina As long as you're injecting doctor prescribed amounts, no it's not dangerous. Negative side effects for me have only been testicular atrophy. But that's no as big a problem as everyone thinks.
If you truly have low testosterone then you very well could have to inject it the rest of your life. If your testosterone level is low due to extreme stress or not enough sleep then it could be temporary.
      I hope this helps.
      Thanks for watching.

Yes, I'm still using TRT. Since I suffer from the condition called hypogonadism (low testosterone) my testes won't make proper amounts of testosterone ever again. So I'll actually have to inject testosterone for the rest of my life.
Though I wouldn't have chosen this for myself, I'm thankful it's an option because TRT is helping me live normally once again.
Thanks for watching and for your question.

good video. as far as physique goes, if you (anyone) want to get bigger you have to do more than merely exercise, you have to train. that means running thru a linear progression program comprised of heavy, compound whole body lifts with a barbell - squat, deadlift, overhead press, and bench. Starting Strength is a popular novice LP program, StrongLifts 5x5 is another and has a great app. These programs ramp you up from very light to fairly heavy weight in a few months. After that there are novice-intermediate programs, intermediate, etc. The distinction here is training is more of a skill and commitment than merely exercising to get sweaty and tired. And it pays off in more ways.

Do you take HCG? and have you tried micro dosing daily? What are your total and free T numbers?

    • zekkez
      zekkez 3 months ago

@TRT Community Thanks for the reply. Yes my Doctor has me micro dosing every day, taking a total of 70mg weekly. Basically we use HCG to keep the natural production of testosterone flowing (even though it's low, that's why I'm on TRT) and we use Test Cypionate to "top up" to a natural level, ideally keeping free testosterone between 0.5 to 1 nmol/L and total testosterone to around the mid 20's to 30's (nmol/L) free test is the amount the body has free to actually use as most of the total T gets bound up with SHBG and oestradiol. You should check my Doctor out. He runs The Mens Health Clinic in the UK and has a youtube channel "Dr. Robert Stevens" he has a different approach with treating the symptoms not the numbers but is leading the way with TRT in the UK as we seem to be far behind when it comes to mens hormone deficiency.

I don't actually take hCG. We already have 5 children and aren't looking to have any more, so keeping fertility up isn't something I really need.
I've never tried micro dosing, no. The most I've ever injected was twice a week. But that threw me off because I was so used to injecting weekly. So, I just went back to weekly and that's been working fine for me.
I've never actually had my free T checked. But I'm due for another blood test with my doctor next month. But last time I checked total T I was injecting around 125mg/week and it was over 1,000, plus my estrogen was around 66. So my doctor and I agreed to lower my dosage. I inject around 80-100/week now.
      Hope this helps a bit.

No problem. When you start injecting TRT your brain recognizes the proper amount of T in your system. It then stops sending signals to the testes (gonads) to produce T on their own. Therefore, they basically shut down. So yes, they do get smaller. But it's not as big a deal as everyone thinks. Really. The just shrink a little. Not a lot. Hope this helps.

@Tej Brar You'll pass me easily. Just work hard, eat right, drink lots of water, sleep 7-8 hours each night and you'll have a great foundation even without TRT. I appreciate the support.
So there’s something called hCG (Human chorionic gonadotropin) that you can take along with your TRT. It’s specifically for guys like you who want to stay as fertile as possible while also needing TRT. It will also help fight against testicular atrophy which is also common for us on TRT (though not as big a deal as everyone thinks).

I feel like crap but on the other end I want kids. Can you please share advice on that matter. And thank you for you lr awesome videos. Been watching for a few months now.

And he actually has prescribed an AI in the past, but I'm purposefully trying to avoid needing that. I guess I take a more simplistic approach and try to take the exact amount of testosterone I need so that I don't actually need an AI.
I discuss more about all that in this video I made a few months back: ruclip.com/video/TAOUiQljaQs/video.html

It's good to hear honest, sensible, factual information on a subject that is exploited and abused. I was wondering if you could speak a little about the difference between total testosterone, bound testosterone and free testosterone. Specifically, is it possible to have an average total testosterone level (619 ng/dL) but have a low range of free testosterone (7.3 pg/dL) and feel tired and sluggish all the time? I wouldn't mind hearing different opinions on this.

What's up Walking Dave!? It's been a while. If you recall you got an 'honorable mention' in one of my past videos. Actually, I re-released that video just recently after doing a little better editing on it (ruclip.com/video/uBQpzJbBXjI/video.html).
Honestly friend, I'm not totally knowledgeable on all those differences and what varying levels (low or high) might mean across the board. I'd recommend Googling it if you haven't already, searching RUclip specifically for that, or asking your doctor. I just don't want to guess and possibly lead you wrongly. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful there.
      Take care and God bless.

Hey brother, great video. My friend just went to one of those low T centers so this video popping up in my feed was super helpful and I just sent it to him. From what he told me, he got tested and his free testosterone count was 277. Note he’s 30, keeps in shape at around 165pounds, works out a couple times per week, similar body type to yours, and works on his feet throughout most of the week. Even though he’s in the “normal range” of 270-1030 free testosterone.... he’s in the lower spectrum of the normal range and fears he’s missing out on a better quality of life. I asked him if he was concerned for intimacy issues, but he said ED is not the issue. He says he has been feeling weaker in the gym over the last year and has been dealing with brain fog and lack of motivation more so than he’s been accustomed to and is worried it might be due to a hormonal imbalance. But He’s telling me his main concerns are wanting children in the future and worries TRT will negatively impact his sperm counts long term should he eventually settle down and be forced to go off TRT to regain regular sperm counts so he can conceive with his partner (which there’s a risk of sperm counts not going back to normal as you know). Since you’ve been through this experience, would you suggest I tell him to just wait until after children to get on TRT since he’s technically within the normal range anyways? Thanks 🙏🏻

Just a heads up, the curls aren't really doing anything for you. Plus, they'll mess your shoulders up quick. You'd be better off doing some sort of weighted squat. Pull ups are good, switch your grip around whenever you remember, that will work your arms in place of the curls while working your upper back. Just a thought.

    • John Doe
      John Doe 4 months ago

@TRT Community Thanks for making it. I have a background in sports medicine and try to give my two cents whenever possible. My last paragraph I'll give my opinion on why your E levels jumped so quickly
Curls really only work your biceps. If you aren't a body builder and want your workouts to be efficient, try doing compound exercises. Those are where you're incorporating as many muscle groups as possible in one exercise. Stuff like pull ups, bench press, squats, dead lift, etc.
Curious, and you don't have to answer this. What is your protocol? I use 0.7ml T Cypionate split into 2 doses of 0.4ml in one, and 0.3ml in the other. On top of that, 3/4mg anastrozole, and 500 units of hcg to keep my boys alive and happy.
I see tons of docs having people on shit protocols. If the E levels ever get high, there are ways to combat it without drastically lowering the dose. The first thing I'd recommend is injecting twice a week. Other wise you get these huge spikes of T and your body starts to metabolize more into E faster. Second and what you really needed was to add in a SERM or something like anastrozole. Both block E very well. My doc won't let me go over 30ng/ml for it on a blood test without raising my dose. Most docs will give you the testosterone. They just generally suck at managing these sort of side effects. I hope they have you HCG. They tend to suck at giving that out too. Cheers.

It's not actually an addiction, but it is something I'll have to have for the rest of my life, yes.
Think if it like insulin for a severe diabetic. They're bodies will never fix themselves and start producing enough insulin again. They'll have to inject insulin for the rest of their lives in order to live normally.
For those of us who truly suffer from hypogonadism (low T), our testes won't fix themselves either. We'll have to inject T from here on out if we want to live normally.
So addiction isn't really the right word, any more than a severe diabetic is addicted to insulin. I guess a better word would be dependent.
      Hope this helps.

Thanks for watching and for your question.
Well, I don’t actually know if there have been studies on the topic, but...I’m thinking that if you’re on doctor prescribed amounts of T then it’s just getting you back to normal levels.
So then you’d be dealing with caffeine amounts for a normal male. So I guess the study would really just be about caffeine’s effects on people in general.
As we know, some caffeine is fine for us and helps with focus and energy levels. Too much is not good for those with high or low T.
Anyway, hope this helps a little.
      Thanks again for watching.

    • TRT Community
      TRT Community  4 months ago

Unfortunately yes, but I’m thankful it’s an option. It’s like a severe diabetic who’s body doesn’t produce enough insulin anymore. He’s dependent on insulin for the rest of his life. Similar situation for those of us with hypogonadism.

  • Mediatard
    Mediatard 4 months ago

is there a rest period or do you take 80mg/week continuously?

    • TRT Community
TRT Community  4 months ago +1

Thanks for watching and for your question.
Those of us using TRT who’ve truly been diagnosed with hypogonadism (low T) will have to inject T for the rest of our lives. Think of it like insulin for a severe diabetic. Diabetes will never fix itself and so the diabetic won’t ever start making insulin by himself again. He has to inject insulin from that point on.
Primary Hypogonadism (the most common form of low T) it like that too. It means the problem lies with the testes. They’ve stopped producing T like they ought and they never will again. So yes, we have to stay on it continually.
I wish I didn’t have to, but at the same time I’m very thankful it’s an option.
      Hope this helps.

Since I was so new to the world of TRT when my doctor recommended it, I saw it as the answer to my problems, which it’s been.
But you’re right about trying to find the possible source. Had I been out of shape, overweight, over stressed, ate poorly, and smoked I probably would have attacked those things first.
But since I was the opposite of all those things I gladly accepted the help the doctor was offering.
