Ethiopian Airlines crash: Is the Boeing 737 MAX a safe plane? | DW News

  • Published on Mar 10, 2019
  • Ethiopian Airlines reports that all 157 people aboard its flight 302 have been killed. The Boeing 737 MAX had just taken off from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and was headed to Nairobi, Kenya, when it crashed, killing passengers from Kenya, Ethiopia, China, Canada and other countries. The plane was the newest version of the 737 and was just four months old. The tracking website Flight Radar 24 says it had an unstable vertical speed. The crash came mere months after the same type of plane was involved in the crash of Lion Air flight 610 just after it took off from Jakarta. Could the design of the Boeing 737 MAX be at fault? How safe is the plane, and could there be a problem with its software?

I didn't see any plane parts at the crash site, no engine, no seats, no wings, no bodies, only a shoe and a piece of a mobile home.

Boeing have to look at why their planes wobble when taxing down the runway! Not normal there is more wrong with these planes ! Cant just move bigger engines closer to the body without changing many things. Not just to put a computer program in with one sensor system. They have blood on their hands just to try and keep up with Airbus. Time these companies stopped doing their own safety checks and control . CAN'T JUST PUT A BIGGER ENGINE ON A PLANE AND HAVE POT HEADS PUTTING PLANES TOGETHER!

It is difficult to understand that out of so many flights B-737 dash 8 had made around the world, why only Lion Air and Ethiopian airlines were unfortunate to fell off the sky. If there is some technical issue (anti stall system or whatever it is), it should be with a lot of other aircrafts (if not all). Could there be a take-off issue (the angle of the ascent or the speed at which the aircraft was banking after the take off etc) be an issue? could there be an analysis made with the take off patterns of these two ill-fated aircrafts with other ones?

    Boeing 737 Deathliner
Earlier 737's suffered fatal crashes from uncommanded rudder reversals due to jammed PCU valves. If this occurred at a lower airspeed, the ailerons didn't have enough authority to check the roll and the planes went down killing everyone on board. One was US Air 427 and I think another was United 585. Eastwinds almost had a crash too.
737NG's supposedly have defective structural parts put on the aircraft so eventually those might start failing. There's a whistleblower video on YT about this.
Now the latest 737 Max 8 and 9's are going down allegedly due to shoddy flight control software.
You won't catch me flying on a Boeing. I used to like their 757-200, but those are old and many have been retired.
For the last few years I've flown on nothing but newer A320's. I've grown to love em.

It is happening to every product and now it is happening to Planes?! Nowadays, design, engineering are rushed to beat competitors only to release a flawed unfinished products. I am talking about most electronic products let it be cars, phones, or apps, games, OS like windows.
Software wise there are countless weekly updates to fix bugs, hardward wise they can overheat or even explode!!
No one takes time to make defect-free products anymore. But please, with planes, many lives are at stake.

In more than 130 days, the Boeing 737Max8 model had two air crashes, resulting in 346 deaths.
This is rare in the history of human aviation.
At 8 o’clock on the morning of March 10, local time, a Boeing 737Max8 from Ethiopian Airlines took off from the capital Addis Ababa. About 6 minutes after the departure, the plane crashed. Eight crew members and 149 passengers were not

The question we need to ask is: why is a plane designed with an autopilot feature that causes the plane to take a nosedive, thereby deliberately crashing the plane? Isn't this insane?

In my opinion most planes are safe if companies take enough measures to update the safety concern, software update and routine check-up on engine performance and glitches that appears to be invisible or unclear to most of us this can be resolved once all measures are taking seriously. The planes have been flown for many years therefore the concern is how much time spent to fix certain issues.

At first sight, it looks like this plane is very agile, dinamic, can do very fast turns at high angles, like a fighter jet... which is unproperly for a heavy airliner where when something goes wrong, it would be VERY much difficult to regain control and positioning. The computer software may not be able to handle such big and yet agile plane.. what do you think?

    1. What was the last leg of this flight before leaving to Nairobi?
    2. What was the Pilot's last report upon landing in ADDIS ABABA?
    3. Was any technicians' involved to sort out or fix discrepancies. If so, needed to be questioned.
    4. Past logs need to be scrutinized for evaluation i.e repairs, change of nuts, metal, gauges
    5. Since this is an early morning flight, though pilots are fully experienced, did they had good sleep before reporting to work.
    6.How was the en-route weather?
    7. Since it was a Sunday the crash occurred, was any military exercises is being conducted in the vicinity of the flight route?
    8. Now found the cockpit voice and digital flight recorders; will give clues what went wrong on this aircraft to crash.
    9. It is now too early to come to conclusion pointing faults. Let the investigators do their investigation and report. I am too waiting for it.
    10. I feel sorry for the departing souls and hope the loved ones will be be comforted at this difficult time.

good plane always survive even pilot make big mistakes, lousy plane, just as Boeing 737 Max, regularly crashes just after it took off ! Airliners should ground their said planes to get rid of loss of passangers' life and claim Boeing to solve the problem !

It was murder and not a normal accident... same as Ryan Air crash. Someone remotely crashed it to cause fear. Almost all planes are equipped with such Remote control chips which are illegally installed to create havoc. This as the other crashes are rituals insrigated by some satanic entities... MH370 was remotely landed in Diego Garcia (Maldives) and all passengers were murdered!! Don't believe what they say... dig deeper and be shocked that this has been going on for a very long time. The powers that be have to be shot at sight.. acts against humanity... wake up!!!!!

The thing that has intrigued me the most about this tragedy is that i came to Comments columns in the web expecing a deluge of badgering of the country where the crash happened, Ethiopy, and the usual racist comments: "What can you expect from a Third World SH" "This is Africa, enough said". But to my surprise I have seen nothing of that sort, most comments are instead sharply critical of the U.S. company that built that airliner, Boeing. "American junk" "What do you exepct from illiterate dopeheads", etc. How hard the mighty fall. This would have been unthinkable only ten years ago, at least people then agreed that Amurrica was able to build quality stuff and Boeing more than anyone else. Another sign of the sure but irremediable decline and future collapse of the empire.
