Can you imagine the 4 pronged emotional attack of making your major league debut in your home country in front of your family, being on the same field as what amounts to your countries Babe Ruth, shaking hands with your childhood hero and the reason you play the game, and then knowing he is done and will never play again. Hell, I cry just thinking about it!

Class act, and one of the best pure hitters to ever play the sport. Its sad to see the end of an era... Speaking of eras coming to an end, something about this video really made me reflect on what is being lost...
Crazy thing is that if you guys (MLB) weren't changing the game so drastically towards ridiculous launch angle slug fests to try to draw in an audience that will never watch, Ichiro could probably still hang in the REAL game of baseball. No place for small ball when all you care about are home runs, "pace of play" and gutting pitching as much as possible. I'll miss Ichiro almost as much as I'll miss watching baseball when the DH comes to the NL (as I'll never watch again, let alone attend the 30+ games I currently attend a year), with your stupid pitch clocks and "3 batters per pitcher" bs. How long before we start hearing rumors of the change, curve, slider, cutter... anything other than a 4 seamer being an illegal pitch? That would certainly get offense up, and bring in these millions of fans that apparently will love the game, just not if it runs over 2 hours, there is more than 2 pitching changes and less than 12 runs scored a side. Who wants to watch DeGrom and Scherzer pitching duel with a 1-0 final score? Yuck! Lefty specialist getting a K with 2 outs in the 8th in a 1 run game with RISP? BOOOOORRRRIIINNNGGGG!!!!! Gotta be whats stopping these mythical fans from watching, right? Surely they are so numerous that they will more than make up for all the hardcore fans you currently have that you're going to alienate, right? Pretty sad that I'm going to have to start going to high school games to watch a real game of baseball.
    TL:DR Yay Ichiro. Boo MLB

It's very villiant for a guy over 40 to stay in the game. But once you pass 40 in baseball you become a liability not an asset. You need alot of days off, you can't play anywhere in the infield. You really can't do anything clutch. And your power to will yourself through plays has dwindled in the best cases. And in the worst cases you offer at everything when your batting or nothing at all. All the greats should retire in there early 40s.

Mike Trout had 190 hits in 2013, yeah hardly sniffing distance. Trout and Ichiro are two very different style of players. no reason to try bring a man down just to prop another up. your comment is very un-Ichiro like.
