Just because Serena Lost two Games to Osaka, and just because Serena blew her stack she have a right to do that , and you all know this, Right? You don't have to like Her are agree with her actions , she still have a right to express herself. No matter what happened at the U S Open it will forever be a part of History in the sports world, and just know that Serena will not the the first to have blown her stack, and will not be the last to do it. She has long ago cemented her place in Tennis History Book , and she will be remembered for her greatness from now to Eternity in the Tennis, and Sports History Books.

Trevor you are a good guy, but you don't understand the rules of tennis (you admit this). First realize the whole purpose of coaches not being allowed to coach their players on the court first..it is a distinct advantage...simple reason...and that is why the rule is in place.

If you actually understood tennis and looked into it you would know that that behavior is utterly unacceptable. Serena does it constantly and everyone is to afraid to stand up to her because of stuff like this. The umpire for the match is very well known and has a reputation for enforcing the rules and did the exact same thing for other players who are male.

  • v4mos
    v4mos 10 дней назад

    1. Rules are Rules. She and her Coach broke them. Her Coach even admittet afterwards. But instead of accepting this fact, of course its the rules fault, because the are stupid.. shure....
    2. After losing another set she broke her raket. this is another clear violation of the rules. of course she has to be punished for that. she's a professional and knows the rules exactly.
    3. After over a minute of trash talking to the referee, demanding a apology from him and calling him a thief for doing just his job, she gets her third and last violation of the rules "verbal abuse" wich is totally fine. You cant compare tennis to basketball or baseball because they have different rules.
Then she not only makes this all a racial and sexist thing, she also makes Naomi Osaka feel bad about her win, when she was clearly the better player. the referee is known for his strict enforcment of the rules and also took games from male players. Serena ist just a bad looser.

Serena is a bully, plain and simple. To shield herself with bullshit like "i'm fighting for women's right, I'm a mother" is disgraceful. If a men did this there would be universal (and deserved) condemnation.

  • NextYear44
    NextYear44 11 дней назад

What embarrassed Williams might also have been the feeling that, in Ramos’s penalty, she was being disgraced before a young woman who worshiped her, before millions of young people whose adoration sponsors like Nike are wooing. That final was a battle between versions of herself, for how she wants to be seen as a mother, a woman, a legend, a victor, as elegant, honest and true versus the many ways she’d been perceived and, on Saturday, misperceived.
    This too shall pass.

  • NextYear44
    NextYear44 11 дней назад

Serena own Words...She would like to make one thing clear about Ramos hitting her with the coaching code violation. It wasn't typical. Usually, if an umpire notices a player's coach making suspicious movements (in tennis, coaches are not allowed to, well, coach during the match), he'll simply say something to the player and that's the end of it.

That was where a lot of people don't understand. That's where I was coming from. Like, usually you talk to me, tell me that something's happening, and I'll tell my box, like, whatever you're doing, don't. First, I can't see you-I'm clear on the other side of the court. Second, don't do it. We're here to win or to lose with dignity, and that's how I've always done my career."

To be accused of cheating, and eventually docked a point for it, was an injustice. "That is not right," she told the referee repeatedly. "And you know it. And I know you can't admit it, but you know it. That's not right."

    • NextYear44
      NextYear44 6 дней назад

That is true to a point, But at the end of the day Serena had her say, got fined, and Osaka WON the match. But just know that all the female Tennis Players who are on tour, has miles, and miles to go before they can truly fill Serena Shoes in Tennis, real talk.

Daily Show, what!? I was expecting you to discuss how Serrina tried to use the "I'm fighting for feminism" as an excuse for her bad behavior, and how that's not okay. That victim mentality I'm serious, smh. I see your point in not criticizing her because she was upset. I'm criticizing her becouse all of a sudden her losing the game is because she black, nope I got it wrong, because she's a women? All tennis players are penalized the same way, has been for years. She also demands an apology from the guy she yelled at for doing his job? (Even if it was a questionable call) Ppl make bad calls from time to time but you couldn't cut this guy a break, so when the dude had enough and he gives you your third point, you cry rape?! Oops, I ment cry wolf, becouse women don't falsely cry rape. Even though, that's also another important issue that women dilute. So when there really is a wolf, no one comes to help becouse everyone is over the deceit

    Everything wrong here:
    1) Tennis is considered a gentle sport, a sport watched and played by the best and richest, all though it has changed over time, the rules are still strict therefore the umpire was only going on the rules, and means if she loses it, its alot more unusual then in team sports
    2) since the game is not a *team sport*, they cant coach since it gives unfair info against the opponent, since tennis involves wits against wits, not team v team, therefore her coach was in the wrong and he knew what it would cause for her
    3) she was deservedly docked a point for the bracket break, which everyone is as always, she just thinks men dont because they dont make a big deal about it, or only get a warning since its a 1st offense, but it was her 2nd since it was on top of the coaching foul
    4) her bad mouthing, calling the umpire a thief, this game is a gentle game as beforehand mentioned, so all obscenities are offensive here, so its a game foul for her 3rd offense, and yes, men do say worse things, but get fouled as well, so again, its the same treatment
    4) Serna’s opponent out classes her in anyway, and no matter how much of a scene she caused or the points that were taken away, she looked as if she was going to lose, so give credit please to Ms.Osaka’s feat and not to Serna’s sore-like loss

The coach admitted he was coaching, whether Serena lied about watching him or not, she knows she can’t break her racket without a violation, and called the ref a thief and continued yelling at him, man if I were the ref especially after two violations I would have thrown her out of the game for her yelling at him continuously

NO, You are bias . What Serena did was wrong. You actually lose your own argument when you compare tennis to other sports. If your agenda was the headline was different compare to other sports . Its bec tennis is played by two people who are feet apart wth each other. They can’t touch each other unlike basketball. So if there’s a misbehavior its always a big thing. And there’s a reason why coaching is not allowed in tennis. Think about this carefully, This is a 1 vs 1 match, if both of them will rcv coaching how will you see their real talent. They should apply their critical thinking and all their training on how they will win the match and there you will see the talent that they have. Would you be happy in an individual game if you win it because you were receiving coaching all the time? Then who should be awarded in the end if that’s the case? Thats why I respect tennis players bec in every game they rcv all the credits of the match bec they can only depend on theirselves during their game.

Serena and Venus isn't in the top ten , and yet they are talked about , and raked over the coals more than most. And to those who are whining, and in pain because the Williams has been on the scenes why aren't you bitter and pressed about the top ten players. Oh that's right Osaka is in the top ten. Osaka is a good player, and well on her way, but by winning two games against Serena that will not make her a instance GOAT, You have to win more than 2 tennis matches against Serena to become a Tennis Ace. Perhaps Osaka Should keep doing good , and try to make it to become number one, like Halep is right now , why don't Osaka try to be number One first, and then move on up the ladder of progression. I like Trevor noah, but i feel he isnt acurately exposing what went down, in order to fit his narrative. I dont understand the "men are passionate" and "serena had a meltdown" insinuation also. We have all seen Male players lose their temper; they yell they push they get pissed, and they move on. You dont see them keep harassing the referee over and over with "thief", "you owe me an apology", " you will never be my referee again" , and even "I am a mother/father, i dont do that", and this over the course of several minutes. This is far from your average sports argument, and i think meltdown is a completely fair statement for someone who was losing the final on her hometurf, and kept harassing the refereee after the several warnings.
Again, i feel Trevor has barely watched the full event, and just saw the headlines.
In future, will take his comments about events i dont know about with a grain of salt

I disagree with Trevor. Ever since he took over TDS, it's become a pro black show. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but he's not being fair in the news and facts.
The umpire called it according to the rules. No one can deny that. The point of the discussion is what Serena said. I didn't follow up on this, but I hope she got heavily fined or suspended. Passion for the game is 1 thing, bringing up feminist and racial shit is another thing. Never liked her in any way

mr trevor, if you knew a little more about sports, there have been worse meltdowns and 'tempers flaring' in the nba, mlb, epl.... and they have also been given fines, sanctions and bans...

Serena was wrong, but it is a bit odd that the coach can't coach his/her player during a match. That is odd to me. If anyone plays tennis or watches a lot of tennis please explain this

I think that Serena Williams called out the wrong ism's. Serena Williams should have said it was RACISM. Not SEXISM. To me Serena was SERIOUSLY setup by HER coach & The POWERS at BE that controls The sport of Tennis. I mean THINK about it for a SERIOUS moment. Serena is trying to SETUP and make HISTORY. And all of a Sutton........ The Empire calls a BULLSHIT penalty on Serena Williams for cheating. I'm like GET the HELL outta HERE.

Sloane Stephens came out on top in a match between the two most recent US Open champions. The 2017 champion beat Naomi Osaka 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 on Monday, 10/22/18 at the WTA Finals,,, the season-ending tournament for the top eight players in the world.
Both players are making their debut appearances at the tournament, but Stephens was more composed while Osaka, who became the first Japanese player to win a grand slam title last month in New York, never seemed comfortable. You Win some , and you lose some, Just ask Serena.

You never say a man athlete had a meltdown? When Cristiano Ronaldo started crying after being sent off by the ref in an unfair call guess what the press said? And what Serena did wasnt a simple argument, she lost her mind indeed. She not only started crying, insulting the ref, making psychological blackmail by mentioning her daughter but also bringing up the feminist card as a weapon. I am completely feminist but in this case she made a fuss and made her opponent (who was also a woman) who had a brilliant match look irrelevant

Correction: we never say that about Football and Basketball players. You know who we DO say it about? FREAKING TENNIS PLAYERS. It's a different sport. You think people talking about her actions is about sex? Here's an idea: go look up John McEnroe and how people talked about HIM. Spoiler alert: same fucking thing. Because what's common in Basketball is almost unheard of in Tennis.
But hey, it involved a woman; so lets just all scream sexism because Victim Culture.

It’s not that she’s a woman, it’s just that tennis is such a boring game that they’re using drastic language to make it seem interesting

He said she was wrong. He also said tennis players said this freak out is normal from all the players. But they don't punished. His point was that they should get punished as well as Serena.....the real issue is Americans don't watch tennis. Don't know tennis culture. But know Serena and have an opinion about her. Is it because she's the only tennis player they know or is it because she's a black woman?
