    This is creepy. That child like head I don’t like it. Most of these nasty contraptions are creepy. That nao and Cozmo are the only ok looking ones, what’s wrong with the designers? They must be creepy people too.

    How did that company manage to make a robot that is trash even in comparison to asimo from 2000? Looks like with the exception of maybe boston dynamics, we aren't going to get humanoid robots that are at all competent until we have AI designing every aspect of them, human engineers clearly aren't up to the job.

      Interesting you say that. I saw Pepper and it's really cute. Of course, many of us fantasize about having a robot. But for us here, in our home, a "rolling" robot just won't work. Just ask our 3 Roombas that are sitting in the basement now, not in use. LOL

      That's because over the years, we've collected so much junk.... I mean, fine objects (cough) that a rolling bot just wouldn't be able to move around.

      Only a walking one would. IF it would walk as good as some of the other bots out there.

      This one is not ready for prime time... YET! I'm confident that the human race will get there. Just not sure if it'll be in my lifetime.

    Romeo needs a few stabilizers on his head and maybe a different face as well. by the looks of it, it should beable to take bigger steps but it wobbles to much to do so. just a thought

    Ok I am sorry to say this but it's legs can only walk 10 degrees this robot can not move one mile an hour and asimo can go run as fast as a human but with a little werk it can be a grate robot possibly even better than asimo.

      Asimo has a huge, global corporation behind its development with untold multi-millions of dollars!

      I would hope it was better.

      The Romeo project just doesn't have that level of backing!

      But like you say, it will get there. This is a great start.

      bluefire23 um all robots are meant to walk and asimo is actually a very smart robot it can even hear five people talk at the same time hah!

      @MrAqif Exactly! Walking is the hardest part. The mechanics involved, the sensors, the program code... it's not easy at all! And just because others have some of their robots walking much better, doesn't mean the code or mechanics are shared as an open source.

      In saying that, perhaps that's the best way to get to the end-result that humans want.... that is, to have this all as Open Source and share everything.

      But sadly, $$$ talks... doesn't it?

      In this video, as can be seen, it's on a solid, very flat floor. I don't think it's anywhere close to be ready to test on uneven or carpeted floors. They need to get it walking better on the flat surface first.

      That being said, from what I'm seeing there, it APPEARS that the range of movement of the servos/joints don't seem to be very wide. It could be just the coding and perhaps there's a lot more range of movement, but it's just not showing in this video.

      Time will tell.
