After they read the question about baking cookies in the dishwasher, an ad came up asking “What kind of world do you want to live in” and I thought they were answering the question.
Not important, just a great coincidence.

-My husband smokes our butter & cheeses, SO AWESOME! Its a great way to step up everyday foods, including baked goods.
-raisins in chocolate cookies.... maybe not.... but in kitchen sink cookies, i could get down with that.
-let's be honest that dishwasher question should have never seen the light of day... the microwave question probably needed to be addressed though

People hating on Oatmeal Raisin cookies? What is this madness? Let me tell you... I bake a lot of different kinds of cookies, but the oatmeal raisin I make are leaps and bounds above any other cookie not only that I've made but that I've tasted from anywhere else. No, you'd never put raisins in a regular cookie with like chocolate chip cookie dough... but it's the ONLY thing that belongs in an oatmeal cookie. Oatmeal Chocolate Chip is disgusting. That's the true sin.

Dutch, like Afrikaans, has diminutive inflections for nouns. The dutch word for cake is koek, and the diminutive thereof is koekje (singular), or koekjes (plural), which is the word from which the English cookies comes from. So cookies are called as such because the Dutch people who named them thought of them as small cakes.

Cookies is rumoured to come from "koekjes" [cook-yas], which in speed of speech (and possibly Afrikaans) will become "koekies", which is pronounced "cookies". In actual English it's biscuit.

Chilled dough also gets you a taller crown, with a smaller diameter. Especially frozen, it gets a chance to sear to the sheet-pan, as it thaws, which reinforces it. Then, the leavening (Baking powder) makes the rest rise for that nice dome shape.

Technically you could cook a cookie in a dishwasher at the highest setting because it would be like a sous vide cookie just put it in a roast chicken bag (I meant bag that you put a chicken in to cook it)

Ms "Knowitall" Food Scientist: Microwave ovens heat polarized molecules so, yes, water-containing products, as well as metals, heat up when microwaved . But, most fats are also heated, even if they include absolutely no water content. That is why you can melt butter or or shortening, or even chicken fat. Similarly, while many plastics are unaffected by microwaves, some other plastics, with polarized molecules, will completely melt when microwaved. There is a reason why plastic containers are labeled "microwave safe", or not!

There is one thing to remember with baking versus cooking. Cooking is art, baking is science. You do stuff wrong in baking, it's ruined. Cooking you can make mistakes and it comes out better. (not often but it happens)
