I had a man order 3 sandwiches, I was on by myself but the actual owner was in the back checking some computer stuff. No big deal, day was slow and I help the guy and I ring him up his total is like barely 21 dollars or so and he starts freaking out about the price. He's thinking I'm overcharging him. Not the first time this has happened to me I just remain calm and break down the cost for him. He continues to scream that I'm overcharging him just so I can pocket the rest. I try to get him to calm down but nothing's changing and he finally says he's going to just take the sandwiches and go because I'm trying to rip him off. I tell him if he does that I need to call the police as that is stealing from the company and he grabs my shoulders and pulls me forward and bashes my face into the computer monitor several times. I had bruises and a bad bloody nose from it. I go to call the cops and the owner comes out from the back. We had a tiny store, he absolutely should have heard the customer yelling at me but he did nothing about it. So I'm trying to call the police and now my boss is yelling at me "what are you doing!?" I tell him I'm calling the cops cause this man just assaulted me. My boss tells me to put the g-ddamn phone down or I'm fired. I was so scared of being fired that I did put the phone down. He gave the customer half off all his sandwiches and after the customer paid for his sandwiches and left, boss turns back to me and yells at me for my "bad customer service skills" "if I wasn't so bad at my job that man wouldn't have felt the need to do this to me" and "this is all my fault" and just kept screaming, I couldn't get a word in at all. I had less than an hour on the clock left by the time all this finished so I finished my shift and quit.

I worked at Subway back in 2007. I was closing up with a co-worker and this homeless lady walks in demanding that we give her a free sub with onions on it. I told her that I couldn't do that and she had to leave as we were closing up for the night. She got all pissed off and started throwing a tantrum and making a mess by opening the chip bags and dumping them all over the floor. My co-worker then called the manager, and the manager told her to call the cops. Cops came pretty quickly and the lady was arrested.
Another story same year probably 3 weeks after the first incident my manager asks me to work one time at a different location across town. So I gladly accept not realizing why it was open until 2 am it was right next door to a bar. I am doing dishes in the back when I heard them come in. I call out "One minute" so I could dry my hands. I guess they didn't like it because they threw around some serious attitude after that. I told them I didn't like it and they said "Well guess what the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT!" So I looked at them professionally and said "Not in every case now hurry up and get out!" About an hour later as I am getting ready to lock up they come in with their girlfriends and they start in on me about being professional. So I said "If you have an issue with the way I am treating you or your friends please feel free to call my manager in the morning." They didn't like that so one reaches over to the till to try and slap me, but I took a few steps back and said "Look it's closing time, and I need you to leave please. If you do not the cops will be called and they will take you out of here." The girls glared at me but the group left pretty quick. I did call my manager in the morning to let her know what went down, and told her I didn't want to work at that location again.

I was working at a package store (liquor store) late one night with one other person - the stockboy, who was younger than me but had been there longer. We were cleaning the place up because it was closing time and we wanted to leave. One of our regulars came to the door and started to open it to come in, but I had already counted the money and closed down the drawer, so I couldn't ring him out. I would have if I could, we did it for regulars coming in at the last minute all the time. I hadn't locked the door yet because no one had been in for the past hour and we were going to be walking out within two minutes anyways. I told him "hey sorry we're closed I can't sell you anything" and he initially walked out and then he turned around and started screaming at me. He was obviously already drunk, common sight when you work at that kind of place, but I managed to lock him out and he stood at the door screaming for 10 minutes. He threatened to call my boss and I was like "please do". We just had to stand there until he decided to leave. It was awful.

    These are horror stories? Really?
    1) I worked at subway for 2 years and I got robbed at freaking gunpoint in my first 4 months working there during a night shift.
    2) This creepy guy high as f**k comes in every night, sits inside the store and creeps the f**k out of me.
*I later realised he was harmless and just wanted a place to chill, for one night he offered me a beer and we had a great conversation*
    3) This one fat dude tried to beat the s**t out of me just because we were out of meatballs.
    4) I found f**King syringes in the God damn toilet boil during my night shift clean ups more than once.
These aren't horror stories they're just excuses. Just man up and f**King deal with it. No customer service job is f**King easy.

These are not horror stories. You just need to know how to deal with whack jobs without escalating. I worked in MacDonalds for a few days in the 80s and had to clean the grease pit and take out garbage. One time I was taking out the garbage after a long day (I was a college student as well) - saw my car and just kept walking. I still think the uniform is in the attic.

My worst work experience is when I was taking the trash out of the bathrooms and someone had removed the garbage bag took a dump in the trash can and then put the bag back in and didn't say anything. So guess what got to scrape the nasty out! Yeah.... It wasn't a good day for me.

Worked for 3 years off and on at one in a mall. Back in '04 or 05 Another worker hops the counter goes shopping for holiday deals while being by yourself doing it all frantically with a line of people heading out the food court for a good hour luckily they did come back after. Being taught to finish sandwiches and ring them up in less than 2-3minutes cuz it got extremely busy more than other subways back then. Yea working nights was tough. Talked about becoming manager but I needed a license so they said i couldn't, instead they didnt say anything to me and gave it to another who the manager liked best n also didnt have a license but they needed the position more than me i guess...I enjoyed working there but felt taking advantage of. Years laters mall n foodcourt went downhill and the subway in food court closed. Oh and cleaning those rubber bread molds were a pain n the butt. Lol We didnt have the one fancy glass to put down to cover the food. We had individual lids back then to cover. I do like some of the updated changes they've made.

    My subway horror story:
One the nights I was closing, actually the last night. There was a guy who kept coming in throughout the day with his shirt off. Before the restaurant was about to close he came in super high out of his mind and was sexually harassing me. He kept mumbling things and eventually tried to open the door to the back where I was that I had locked. I was yelling at him and kept trying to get him to leave. Then he pulls his pants down and he starts jacking off in front of me, at that point I was already on the phone with the police. They were able to come in time to arrest him. And that was the last time I worked there.

Feel bad for the last girl and screw her co-worker... she should've called the cops herself. Thinking about it now, I can't imagine working nightshift and having to deal with a dangerous situation like this as an 18-year-old girl. 1 time when I was eating at a Subway, this lady was coming back starting to yell at the subway employees, starting her drama. So then as soon as she was done and was on her way to the exit door, this other lady was like “Shut the hell up". The lady heard and started yelling back at the other lady walking through the counter. Later on, 1 employee came and apologized to me for the lady’s show. I let my cousin know about this, she said she would’ve been there laughing. But if she started laughing, she would’ve been beated or yelled at.
