Matt, if someone has a leg strength to weight ratio below 1 then they can't even jump. Obviously, Lego Batman CAN jump, so the value of 0.754 is clearly wrong. When kicking Alfred across the room, Batman does a jump-kick, so you should add that particular impact (based on the height attained) to the momentum from the kick itself.

Wasn’t Bale’s Batman wearing equipment because his leg had been worn down? That should skew the number of force right?

  • Jai Darling
    Jai Darling 19 days ago

Uh, big problem with your initial Christian Bale example, in that scene he is testing a mechanised leg frame to wear with his suit in order to overcome the leg injury he sustained at the end of The Dark Knight. So that is not a valid reference because that's not his natural kick strength.

A Newton of force is calculated using metre per second. You measured the lego batman world in centimetres. Therefore, you have established a ratio of 1:100. That means you have to multiply the strength of lego batman by 100 to have a 1:1 ratio. So when you calculated the velocity of Lego Alfred you should have multiplied the centimetres to metres instead of converting to metres. You will realize that lego batman is actually kicking Lego Alfred with 15300lbs of force. This is the case because if Lego Batman were the same size as IRF Batman, Lego Batman would still be able to kick Lego Alfred across the room. Kicking someone 22m will require more than 153lbs of force as you calculated.

ok, this theory is broken at the point of comparing the dark knight rises brick kicker scene to lego batman spinning back kicking Alfred across a room.... just for the simple FACT that is ignored in the karate brick braking example... most brick breakings in karate have wooden seperators between each brick in a stack, that allows each brick to give and break with ease, and not brace one another against breaking... it's usually around a quarter of an inch thick of a wooden block between the bricks on two points, leaving the middle of the brick free to break inward to the next brick and so on.... now here is where the HALF THOUGHT THEORY falls apart on this comparison.... the brick wall Christian Bale kicks in DKR.... is a pillar of layered, and stacked load bearing bricks.... packed ontop of eachother to support weight. and not to buckle easily in any way. unlike karate bricks. meaning to break as many as he did, he would have to had exerted MORE force than it would take to break the karate bricks, when he kicked the pillar. so for a fair estimation MATPAT should at the very least, DOUBLE the numbers for that calculation to be more fair

if a spider were to be the size of a human, it wouldn't be able to lift hundreds of tons. Actually, it would be about as strong as a human. Do you wonder why big animals can't even lift 2 times their weight while insects can lift over 100 times theirs? Small animals can lift more proportionally
