So, what did all of these concerts, singles, videos and news space do to end inequality in the World? NOTHING.Except for that already overpriced, prole-robbing super groups of the 80's (and today) made ALOT of profit - MONEY FOR NOTHING - and people in Africa still live as a 3rd world. Why don't you have a think about it... If you CAN think....

Knopfler's roadie hands him his six-string, plugs him in, then pats him on the back. The pat on the back is the roadie saying: "Mark, you're ready to go!".

Probably the coolest song and original video of the 80’s.

From the first time I heard this song I thought that Mark Knopfler and Sting had somehow managed to take an immense dump together at the same time. It's 3-chord MTV bubblegum pop that should have been made by a one-hit-wonder band rather than leaders of two bands with the stunning (at the time) very recent catalogs of Dire Straits and The Police. What. The hell. Happened.

It's a shame that he had to edit the lyric about the "little faggot". The whole song is about his experience over hearing two assholes in an appliance store talking about music videos from bands like his. The "little faggot" he is singing about is himself, and the song loses some power when the original lyrics aren't sang.

See the little faggot with the earring and the make up
Yeah buddy that's his own hair
That little faggot got his own jet airplane
That little faggot he's a millionaire
We got to install microwave ovens, custom kitchen deliveries
We got to move these refrigerators, we gotta move these color TV's

Dire Straights were playing 12 or 14 nights at Wembley Arena, across the car park from Wembley Stadium, at this exact time. The band had played the arena the night before this, they did this set at the Stadium on the Saturday afternoon for Live Aid, then played the arena again that very evening.
