So basically, Gene Nate' After bath splash is for people who want to make themselves uninsurable.
I have to admit, I remember buying it and using it in 1985.... and I'm a guy. lol. I still remember the smell and I have to admit it is peppy. Though I never jumped a dirt bike over a freeway bridge when wearing it. They apparently still make it, too.

I remember so many of these ads. I remember Micky Rooney was a Pepper.. I'm a Pepper he's a Pepper wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too.. didn't watch much TV back then. But they sure made them so you would remember when you was out and about. What a great time it was then and so much more simpler.

Ah, The lost art of the commercial jingle. So many TV ads had quick and easy jingles to sell products. Dr. Pepper and Jean Nate are iconic. and the lesser known Nuance commercial uses that song ballad style that could almost be played on the radio.

Lettuce wrap options, baked sweet potato fries. They could bring back Ronald McDonaldland with Grimace, and all the characters to once again make kids happy, but legit. Pretty simple really.

A lot better than the trash on today's commercials. I just saw a commercial for Revlon lipstick. The girl singing the song for it said the f-word. It was bleeped over but still recognizable. More and more commercials are using small cuss words now. Did you see the Sharri's Berries commercial they ran during Mother's day with the talking parrot? The more accepting the people are to foul language in ads, the more filthy the language will be on those things.

Ya, it began as a psyop, portraying all women, rather than a few women, as all wanting careers, like in the movie 9-5, with TV and movies pushing the career woman hard (because honestly; many just do not want a career, it is expected of a woman now, and many would just rather keep the home operating, which to be done well, is more work than a full-time job, its a 24/7 and always on-call job, and there are no days off) only served to double their work load, career + homemaker (like the Enjolie ads always portrayed, you’re not a woman if you aren’t a career woman, a home-maker, and a wild, exotic lover on demand when your man gets off work, able to change moods and roles at the drop of a hat, just don’t expect the man to be able to do the same).
It further undermines the stability of the family, home is the sanctuary and everyone needs the woman there to make it the place of refuge from the world, a very important role, unless the woman can do an outside job better and the man is better at homemaking, which sometimes is the case, he may cook better, many great chefs are male, he may clean better (dirty jobs are sometimes less offensive to men), so that’s a fair trade in those cases, but in general, I like the old-fashioned ways.
The psyop worked only because some, ok, many men didn’t respect the workload involved in keeping a house, and treated the woman in their life not as an equal counterpart to a shared life; the man didn’t see her work as something deserving of any or enough compensation (hire it all out instead and see what you’d have to pay for it all), but instead, he took her for granted, she had to beg the great almighty husband for money to cover expenses (having this attitude was also pushed in TV and movies since inception) and some basic spending money just to be a human and get little things everyone need (on top of this, men to this day often expect the woman to look fabulous, but expect there to take none or little of the money required to achieve this effect, they are attracted to beautiful, well-dressed women, and in the same moment, whine that such a woman is drawn to the money required to make her a beautiful, well-dressed woman. They don’t get the hypocrisy at all. Not at all. Seriously. It’s pretty bad. I see guys all the time be drawn to some objectified woman, then ask why he can’t get a “woman like her”. I reply: Well, what kind of man are you, what do you have to offer? If you want a nice, kind, understanding woman, be a nice, kind, understanding man (and don’t mis-match yourself with a materialistic woman or a bait-and-switch, men do this too, so that’s why a long relationship is required, at least a year to let their true nature unfold. If you don’t want a gold-digger, look for one sensibly dressed, and not draped in costly things. If you want a beautiful, “well-dressed” woman, or these days, one that has treated her body like a McNugget, all chopped, pressed, and formed into something you physically desire more, expect your relationship to be based on shallow things and don’t expect much emotional support from it, and expect any or all of that to actually cost some money, some serious money, regardless of bargain shopping options for clothing and accessories. Some things just require real money.
Then the man, withholding that which was required to maintain the woman he met, devalued her continuously, because she couldn’t afford to keep herself up as a human, then he’d look down on her more and more as not the woman he loved anymore, failing to see that he was the gardener and she was the garden, and he didn’t keep up the garden, and blamed her for the result. He was the reason for the weeds, not her...then, he’d begin to take that money he felt she didn’t deserve, and spend it on some new interest, a new woman who was well-dressed and beautiful, and he’d go off with her.
Women got tired of being that vulnerable. They’d be faithful and work hard to make a home, then the man didn’t respect her in return, and when she no longer had any way to get an outside job, because she hadn’t kept up with the times, and businesses would only hire someone with a recent outside work history...the man would run away, like some coward, and leave the whole mess for the woman to deal with. They’d even complain bitterly about having to help feed, clothe and shelter their very own children, and yes, I know some horrid women that won’t let their children see their father, and sometimes that’s because he abandoned them and she feels he’s not a good example to them, and sometimes she’s just a horrid woman that cheats her children out of knowing and loving heir father. I’ve seen quite a few of these types of women. Good fathers kept from their kids. And yes, women who abandon their own.
But this is mostly about the old days, and there were less women abandoning their families back then. To this day, I see men posts like “Yea! It’s my son’s 18th birthday! Today is the last day I have to help support my child!...(might as well say “Happy Birthday son, I hate and resent you, you’re nothing to me but a great burden!”, because that’s exactly what it says to the kids when dad won’t send any or enough money for their care, especially when he has the means and just will not. He doesn’t punish the woman nearly as much as he punishes innocent children, his very own flesh and blood.
.,.and there is the big difference between a man and a woman. A woman never desires to stop supporting her beloved children she doesn’t look for ways to not help them. From what I see of what men write in cimments, the man often only sees the money, he hates the woman for needing money to take care of a child they had together (I even hear men complain about a pregnancy and financial lifetime commitment resulting from a one-night stand, railing on some “greedy” woman who wants to “take him for money” just for a short moment of fun. As if caring for the child is a walk in the park. SHE is the one that pays the most. Having to contribute money is nothing over dirty diapers, worry, school, friends of the child, bullies, the actual caretaking of another human being..for life. And here’s a thought, he kkkely, being selfish, was the only one that even enjoyed the sex. So who is getting the raw deal? The woman, a million times more so. They probably didn’t even get pleasure form that deal. But that’s the cautionary tale. If either party doesn’t want the potential child and child support, or an STD, maybe those types of acts should be reconsidered. But engage in them, and don’t complain if you ever end up having to pay for a child for life, both man and woman).
      :
So then women, left with children and a man who felt that now not only should she, at best being paid 40-60% of what a man got for doing the same job (yes, women can and do an equal or even better job at any given thing, and men hated their egos being exposed, and damaged, they wanted to keep the mental myth that a woman just couldn’t do this or that as well as a man...but sometimes the top man for a job is a woman), has to also pay double for a lot of the same services (hair, dry cleaning, men don’t compare those costs, do they? No. They don’t. A woman’s suit, shirt, anything comparable would cost more than cleaning a man’s. Why? There was less fabric to clean. And women have to buy more things for physical maintanence, and they cost more. So being a woman ends of costing about 3-4x what it costs to be a man, for the same level of maintenance.
Women had to go back to work and keep a home for the kids, but he, who had begun some new life felt he did not have to contribute to the care of the children and the problems he helped create.
Women wanted to not have to fully trust untrustworthy men, and in that regard, they were and are 100% right. Security. The only way to have it is to create it yourself, and for women, they chose not to put themselves into that position, until men someday learn to be more reliable and less in control of their physical desires and weaknesses (women get them plenty, too, they just control them better...they more often are likely to remember the long-term price of foolishness ).
And it was because of all of that, that the psyop got a toehold. And the agenda of destroying the family has been working nicely for them. Oh, yes, and the extra goal for the psyop. Get to tax a household twice, for two-income families. It was one of the reasons for it.

Funny but tragic all this brand-addicting brain-washing "buy our product or your life will suck" hocus pocus from my TV childhood. Since I left the USA 25 years ago never saw this level of hard sell in any other country. I mean seriously, a whole song and dance production that promises to revolutionize your quality of life based on some washing powder, sugar water, choice of mayonnaise, etc. Billions of dollars at stake with millions of TV-watching consumer zombies so go figure. AMERICA, fuck yeah! ;-)

1981 Mazda GLC... "The more you look the more you like"???? THAT is a tough sell. I mean, fuel efficient and reliable they may be, but in terms of looks? Come on, let's be honest. I guess if you don't park it near an Imperial, Lincoln or Cadillac you might be OK.

It was supposedly a Great Little Car. Remember, 1981 was the height of extreme fuel costs and the depth of recession, and suddenly all these ecoboboxes were outnumbering the traditional "gas guzzlers" even in the U.S. I totally agree that boxy late '70s and '80s period was not the height of auto styling.

Bobby Brady I thought so at the time. But having been raised on farm fresh food from home and the community. Having had bushels of fresh peaches in the summer and homemade butter on sweet corn in June until I glutted myself, And comparing that to the food that is available to me now, I don't feel deprived at all.
I was painfully shy and embarrassed myself when i finally did order my first burger. I will never forget that burger.
      IT was aweful.
