Bitcoin At $1 Million By 2020 Is Still Possible And Might Be A Discount Says James Altucher

  • Published on May 31, 2019
  • Best-selling author and former hedge fund manager James Altucher is not backing down from his $1-million-dollar bitcoin call that he boldly made back in 2017.
His timelines may be a little different however.
Altucher made the call two years ago when bitcoin was trading around $11,000, he called for the crypto to hit $1 million by 2020.
Now just one year away from that mark, Altucher said if bitcoin ends up replacing paper currency that the call is still not out of the question. “How much paper currency is out there…it’s about $200 hundred trillion dollars out in the world, and there is only about $200 billion dollars of crypto currency, so that is 100,000 percent from here. So that could give bitcoin a price of $8 million dollars, so $1 million dollars is even a discount to where bitcoin could eventually go. When it gets there, who knows,” Altucher explained in an interview on Thursday.
Over the past two months, the cryptocurrency market has seen the bitcoin price double, rallying from $4,200 to $8,600. On Thursday, bitcoin extended its rally past a new milestone, clearing the $9,000 barrier to set a fresh 12-month high to only come back down $500 dollars minutes later.
Altucher is a Top 10 LinkedIn Influencer, the author of the bestselling book “Choose Yourself” and the managing director of Formula Capital
Bitcoin last traded at $8,413.25 a coin as of 10:00 am EST on Friday. __

Assessing voluntary value to an invisible nonentity is most illogical. But after decades of using Government Fiat currency humans have been conditioned to accept, grade and add value to invisible nonentities. When logic is scarce and conditioning complete, the value of nothing can accelerate to very high levels and last for an eternity. The illogical humans have been conditioned like sheep, and Bitcoin will be the beneficiary this Idiocracy.

Peter Schiff regarding your debate with the bitcoin guy can’t remember his name, SALT conf. One. You came short in my eyes brother with all due respect and please take these points to heart. Gold uses I’ve heard you say this before with the electronics cellphones sure yes they are used in dentistry etc but something you are not acknowledging is the physical properties of gold within the context of THE Universe at large , ; if mankind , emphasizing kind...were to become a space fairing being, the protective blanket of gold from the deadly rays of space are essential. Done.
Other point you are not emphasizing with this bitcoin people for the everyday man woman and child the verify ability of gold and silver is way more concrete because we could go into a factory that takes the mined rock and see the process it takes to get that commodity into being. but with bitcoin what process am I understanding what verification do I have that it takes work to make this non-thing it is ridiculous and debate should have been over with just that.

the younger generation has a different perception on what money is and what value is.....we can't ignore is something that they can understand and something they can relate to.....that we may not understand. for example ,I am not a believer in cell phones and Facebook.....but just because I DON'T SEE VALUE in it does not mean that there is no value.......I guess what I'm trying to say is you have to believe in something to have value in it......and more and more people are seeing value in Bitcoin......and just for disclosure, I see value in gold and in Bitcoin because I believe in both.

I m 41 I don’t trust banks and markets from my personal experience. Hell the whole phenomenon of Doom loop cycles started when I graduated college with the dot com bust and a little before that LTCM. I have had some success in business now saved a little money opened and max out my IRAs every year. Opened accounts and saved money for my kids (5,8). I felt the markets inflated for years and had my money in all cash until late last year. It was difficult to do while markets rise and missing out on it all. Now with my undergraduate level finance / economics degrees I m faced with the need to take the risk and take a positioning in something...... Risk aversion is an interesting topic to examine and it is interesting because it is a subjective thing and relative to past experience. If we take my generation the 35-50 yo group. We saw tremendous volatility in the markets, we saw this phenomenon forming now aptly called the doom loop! Now think what is the risk aversion of such a demographic who has seen others and them selves hurt by this instability THROUGHOUT their adult working lives. Now we have a little money saved after clawing our way up from the last debacle. Are we gonna lose it all again? what are we all doing I feel. Why even try! You know it’s sad that an entrepreneur like myself even thinks this. But we can’t deny that this sentiment has been permeating through the society in ever increasing ways. It actually terrifies me to think this sentiment will over take me. Now you can see why our generation has given birth to the Democratic socialist types and in my opinion just another form of unfairness me this upwardly mobile middle class shmuck getting it from both ends. Am I off? Being overly negative or am I seeing things for what they are. I have taken my position with you , mike Maloney, Jim r hell even my biggest professor Milton. and the like and have moved in to 80% gold and silver etfs. But this whole bitcoin thing really gets me worried.
I haven’t heard of any of you all put it this way, because there are parallels; both gold / silver need to be minded , Bitcoin also needs to be mined, there needs to be a solved algorithm to make it work. So in both cases there was a human effort to bring into existence this asset. So therefore intrinsically there is a stored value there based on the human labor bringing it into existence. BUT, which one is better? More verifiable? More tangible, more universally understood. GOLD. I just hope I time my exit right from all this paper shit I have because after all it is all Paper until we turn it REAL! Huge fan Peter and I’m with you. I just hope this bitcoin thing wont come around and eat our lunch, nahhhhh lets keep it simple who will win in a physical altercation , a. miner or a computer Now which one do you want to protect your wealth.
