This is pretty funny. When I hosted a girl from our Japanese sister school in Melbourne Australia, it was fun to teach her about some of the culture specific to Australia. Most of the Japanese students who visited only knew about the aussie animals and the Sydney Opera house, but it was a lot of fun to see the student I hosted really surprised about the graffiti in Melbourne and how it's recognised as art. As well as slang and the fact that when I mentioned "Maccas" and she was confused, I didn't realise for a good while that she knows it as Mc.Donalds, and that it was kind of surprising to me as well just to realise how much us Aussie shorten everything. Also talked about AFL, and some of the food. And she was mostly surprised about the cultural diversity in Melbourne, and when I visited her school in Japan I was super shocked to see that the school celebrated the 7 non-pure Japanese students they had attending during the school festival (bunkasai), while back in Melbourne it's super common to see halfies/mungrals (such as myself) of all cultures.

Japanese people only know the stereotypes about British food... in reality, the quality of supermarkets and international food is much higher in the UK, so it actually sort of evens-out; Japan wins for domestic cuisine, but the international restaurants in the UK are much, much better and more authentic than those in Japan.

    Dear Chris Broad
I enjoy your videos a lot. But in this one the camera was very bobbing for a while and made me dizzy.
apart from that your face and your accent and what you say is a feast to me (your face reminds me of a boyfriend I once had; your accent is a good example of the kind of english accent that turns me on; and what you say tends to be interesting and your fluency and rithm are all right.)
thanks a lot for your videos.
    Cheers!

Every year Japanese students came to my old school on an exchange, I distinctly remember when they were in the queue for school dinner on the Friday and the teacher would shout "Fish and chipsu!" And the kids would repeat it in unison and every year I would burst out laughing then hide my head in shame as they all looked on bewildered at the weird foreigner laughing at them.

(this comment is long, but stick with it, there will be a questionnaire at the end about accents) NONONONONONONONONONONONONONO whenever someone says the word CHAV a thousand geordies stand up and shout ''ITS PRONOUNCED CHARV!!!!'' here in newcastle they call yobs/hooligans/anyone in a ben sherman or burberry anything a charver. originally im from essex, but moved up north aged 14 in 1995, and that was when i first heard the word. loooong before the british media wrongly picked up the word and mispronounced it chav. and if you think about it, it makes sense why. whenever you hear a southerner try and do a geordie accent, it sounds terrible most of the time, im lucky (or unlucky) in that i pick up accents like a kid picks up sweets off the floor.....quickly. so not only do is my accent fluent geordie these days (and was within about 2 months) but i know why it became chav. imagine that a southerner heard the word charv from a geordie, to a southerner it does sound like they are saying chav, because thats almost pretty close to what its sounds like when a geordie says it because of their accent, but southerners having a different accent would have heard it as chav not charv, and thats how it became chav probably....boring as fuck explanation....pretty pointless and useless unless your coming to newcastle, but ya know....the more you know n all that. its funny cuz i never realised how much i picked up the geordie accent until i tried talking to my family and friends down south a few years later, and they could barely understand a word i said. in fact once i went up to a guy and said (now bear with me, im gonna write it how it would sound, so phonetically) ''d' ya kna where a git the noomba ten boos from meyert'' to which he said ''eh?'' three times i asked, and three times he said ''eh?'' so i thought screw it, southern accent activated ''d'ya kno wher' a get tha namba ten bas from may' '' and straight away he replied ''yeah bruvva, jast awva there'' pffff. for those that still dont have a clue what the fuck just got said, i asked him ''do you know where i get the number ten bus from mate'' to which he finally replied ''yeah, brother, just over there'' accents. anyway, i know i started this loooong as novel sized comment about the word charver, but it has now lead to something interesting (thank god) how do japanese people (and foreigners in general i 'spose) deal with accents? are there any accents they understand better or easier than others? and also, are there different accents in different regions of japan?
