Hollywood was and remains deprived with barely a decent person in it. Not one person pulled her away from the evil surrounding her. This tells you all you need to know about magical Hollywood. Her mother was the gateway.

I also believe a huge error is the ages of Lorna and Joey Luft. Lorna was actually nearly 17 years old when her mother died, and Joey was 14. They seem to be much younger in the film.

Yes her last husband she did not meet at a party.. also the super fans dinner was fabricated... hate when Hollywood changes history...she supposedly committed suicide 2x .. and possibly more...she had 3 abortions and almost killed herself leaving a lit cigarette in bed which caught on fire...according to the Sid and Judy. documentary ...she also almost died of liver she almost died 4x due to her reckless behavior plus she was an alcoholic and drug addict...

I do so hope that Zellweger goes beyond the mannerisms of Garland. When I see Renee Zellweger, with the botox and fillers and everything that made her look unrecognisable, i fear for the worst. But I'm gonna see this movie anyway. Maybe I will be surprised. And for Jdy's sake I hope so. She deserves it.

Hollywood big shots & producers are nothing less then pimps, Harvey Weinstein has gave us a look into how these ugly, dirty minded bastards think and don’t get me started on her wicked witch of a mother, Judy Gumm Garland was Such a beautiful woman and singer. 😪

The film should have started with the loss of the Oscar for A Star is Born. Then gone into her CBS television tenure. CBS a also is responsible for a portion of her demise. Up against Bonanza in colour on a Sunday night! Give me a break! They should have moved her time slot to another night! Ms. Garland worked her ass off on that show and CBS treated her like garbage!!

Adonis Kasey Her life was not all sad. She had many happy times with her children. The movie is well done, but it focuses too much on the negative.

Sadly as we have seen with WHITNEY and AMEY, more recently, the ENTERTAINMENT business has a very cruel and wicked side which exploits every situation and shows no mercy to the vulnerable.

What about Louis B. Mayer being sleazy around her? I know he put enormous pressure on his child stars- and that was pretty much child abuse, but one scene implies he went a bit further when he touched her chest...

I watched this film with my gay friend and the couple scene had him in tears. A pity it wasn't true because it was indeed a moving scene- I think it was just to show her empathy with the LGBT community.

During rehearsals for the last Broadway production of Gypsy directed by Arthur Laurents, the author of the musical, he said that one of the stage mothers approached him during a break in rehearsals and said "You know what? You should tell MY story."
It still goes on. And that's why stories like Judy's so desperately need to be told.

I saw Isabel Keating play Judy Garland in The Boy from Oz in NYC in 2004.

Renee Zellweger is in this current movie.

Heartbreaking. Judy was a star and is a legend. How stunning she looks in the clip from “Summer Stock” in the hat heels and what looks like a belted jacket, it’s an iconic look, like MMs white dress. The Hollywood studio machine chewed Judy up. Although I’ve never seen the film this video references, I’d like to. I will definitely buy a DVD of “Summer Stock” if I can find one!

I wish people would stop ascribing her death to "accidental overdose." Looking at pictures from her March '69 performance in Copenhagen, her cadaverous look shows her at the brink and anything could have pushed her over, from cardiac arrest to stroke to embolism. Clearly, at that point she was not in good health. Chronic alcoholics are unable to process nutrients from food; and clearly by this point her health was failing and anything could have pushed her over. "Accidental overdose" simply gives an inaccurate summary of her poor health by June of 1969.

  • Steven Torrey

Anything Hollywood produces is open to suspicion! In general, though, the movie was fairly accurate reflection of her life and the end of her life.

  • Linda Ingoglia

The movie portrayed her children much younger than they actually were at that time. Lorna Luft was 16 and Joey Luft was 13 when Judy went to London for her residency. And Lorna wrote that they left her and went to their dad's, then called Judy to let her know where they would be staying. Renee gave a truly incredible performance. And I can understand fictionalizing the gay couple. But feels wrong to me to tell a different story about her children in that way.

I just saw the movie... I love Judy Garland and Renee did a good job. But they only showed a very small aspect of her life, pretty much the negative side; drugs alcohol, and how the studio worked her. Nothing about her amazing movies , her dancing ability, etc. It was quite sad...

Thank you! Or watch any of the gut-zillions of clips of her movies and TV appearances on RUclip. And then come to this movie expecting to see an illumination of a short period of her life. No, it's not a hologram of Judy. It's a depiction, people, and it's lovely.
