Arctic Resin Table

  • Published on Jun 18, 2018
  • I saw a light diffusing panel while walking through the home center and the idea hit me like a brick! I knew I had to try it. Sort of my take on an ocean table
I've never done pattern transfer in resin before and certainly not a tabletop size! I definitely learned a lot from this project and I'm very happy with the ultimate outcome.

Sorry but that texture is ugly as hell dog. Idk why you would want your table to look like a fluorescent light from the 80's but you do you I guess

  • Bubbles Bubbleton

It would be cool to use this technique with gem stone colors. The texture reminds me of a gemstone and with all the dyes you have paired with the resin art technique you did, it could be a beautiful piece.

i know this video is from last year, but the reason the first one flexed was because of the propane torch. the plastic sheet flexed under the heat of the torch which then caused the centre to rise which then effected the cast.

Respect, that looks so dope. Beautiful little table, I agree with some comments, that a smooth clear resin on top would be both practical and beautiful. Almost like an illusion, like the texture is there but it's not when you feel it or use it.

Sorry to say, I saw the fail coming. As a contractor I know what the light diffusing sheets do with heat. As you were pouring in was yelling at you to help the resin level itself, but alas, you didn't listen. You did however listen when I said you should do it again and spray glue it down. 👍 love the blue color. Might have to try this for my poolside table top.

once the resin is mixed does it produce heat during the curing as that may cause the plastic underneath to warp

You should use a notched trowel to spread the epoxy. The first one buckled due to thermal runaway for being too thick. That textured blank would make a great top panel for gift boxes or other decorative items since epoxy can be worked just like wood. Great video.

I thought that you were going to add a thinner layer of clear, on top of the rocky surface, so that it would be smooth and still have the look. I think it would be cool if you put a thin led set of Christmas lights underneath it. With white or ice blue, it could have a cool effect.
