If the hunter somehow is given equipment which can fend off attacks from 50 eagles, why not argue the VIP also has armour to protect against at least one rifle shot (making it so that the first shot never kills AND gives away the hunter's position)? You can't just add additional variables without applying then to both human parties.
Heck, it's already generous to assume the hunter even has enough ammo to deal with 50 eagles, not to mention other factors like whether he can even reload effectively while being swarmed, much less take out the VIP.

I think you need to take the eagles intelligence into account, they aren't dumb but as I see it the only thing on the list that has the intelligence to perform target prioritization is the human. The eagles would probably just attack the first thing they see

  • Superkylej

Wouldn’t the human provide a bonus for the team by being able to train them. Wolves might be the easiest to train but humans can, in time train everything on the list. With the ability to train and communicate in some way across species i think that a human teammate would be important. Once trained having a human coordinate the movements of his animal teammates means they could employ strategies that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. The only way i see a human not being useful on the team is if you yourself count as a part of the team effectively giving you 3 units on the field.

While numbers-wise, the rats seem to be the obvious choice - I think people are forgetting how little an average rat weighs and how weak it is compared to all the other choices on the list. Any of the larger animals (especially the bull) could just wade through the sea of rats pretty easily. It might die later on from blood loss or disease but it would be able to charge through the rats easily to either attack the vip or if defending, help the vip escape. While the human seems like the weakest choice (for defense) at first glance, it is assumed it only has the bolt action rifle and doesn't take into account its ability to store other items or camo. Any of the groups with smaller numbers lose to the human whether the human is attacking or defending (unless terrain allows for stealth or some other advantage) and with enough distance and sunlight the human would actually kill the vip (if vip is not hidden behind a shield or camo) before the birds of prey even get to the human or success attack its eyes (which can be shielded with goggles/armor etc). So, I see having the human as A tier (on average since we don't know the full scenario) seems appropriate, though I would put it higher for some cases and lower for any up close situations where tactics and gears are less helpful. If choices not taken are not then attackers, the human drops in overall value. But, if the choice not taken does become an enemy, that requires us to take the human. This is probably why rats were S tier because while they're not as great a choice for defense as some say, for offense they're unstoppable just due to sheer numbers (unless again the vip is allowed to use the bulls or a vehicle to escape).

Unfortunately peeps seem to forget humanity's most op power, [meta hack]. This makes several ridiculously powerful tech trees become available, like deforestation, climate change, artificial ice age (nuclear winter), server expansion and creation, genetic engineering, artificial flight, the list goes on and on. You don't even need two picks, one modestly well leveled and equipped human will always win. Hackers always win against non cheating players, sad but true.

Let me just say, even if it was 1000 or even just 500 rats, clearly the person designing this challenge has never met a rat. How big do you think a rat is? They're bigger than that. Buck fancy/brown rats top out at a whooping TWO POUNDS. That is the size of A SMALL DOG! Tierzoo has said before rodents aren't designed for combat but I call bullshit, especially against soft bodied animals like humans. Rats have massive teeth that not only inflict large wounds, their uneven teeth makes sure it HURTS and doesn't heal easily. Combined with their claws, which are placed like finger nails on top of the toe so THEY DON'T WEAR DOWN, rats are perfectly designed to fend off aggressors or harass a bigger target. They regularly kill their predators, and form colonies to practice alloparenting, which means if there's even one female left alive, they Will. Not. Stop. Breeding. Rats are unstoppable machines

  • Fred Derf
Fred Derf 9 days ago +1

To make a truly well reasoned choice you would have to know the design of the playing field and the rules of the game. Given the lack of that info I'd go with the human and wolves. The human simply over powers all other classes with its use of weapons, particularly its access to ranged weapons, combine that with its ability to craft armour and make defensible bases and their choice is a no brainer. The wolf class is the only class that has the intelligence and cooperative playing style to work with the human in defense of the primary.10,000 rats might seem like a good choice at first blush but they are just as likely, if not more likely, to attack the primary than to defend it. Plus, unless the rats are attacking en-masse (which is not a typical attack pattern for them) the wolves can easily dispatch them and if they do attack en masse the wolves can simply flee to the safety of the defensible base made by the human.

    • Fred Derf
      Fred Derf 7 days ago

@Asger Lakkenborg You're presuming the rats will make a coordinated attack en masse, that's not how rats act. I'm presuming that all the payers in the game will act within their normal character and abilities. So you don't have to worry about 10,000 rats attacking at once and the wolves would be easily able to handle the rats solo or in small groups. Not to mention that the human would be able to build a fortification against them making them even less of a threat.
See the discussion thread started by Dr. Alias, the first message of which reads "But, what if the eagles team kill? Ten thousand rats sounds like a lottery prize to a eagle"

    • Asger Lakkenborg
      Asger Lakkenborg 7 days ago

15 wolves and 1 human cannot possibly defend you against ten THOUSAND rats.
Including yourself as a combatant, that is 10.000/17 = 588 (ish) rats *per combatant* on your side.
Every single wolf in the pack needs to personally kill 588 rats before it goes down. You need to personally kill 588 rats before you go down. The human needs to personally kill 588 rats before they go down.
That battle is hopeless before you even get to fight any of the other animals.

  • VVeremoose
    VVeremoose 9 days ago

The human can deal with the animals from range too while the rats screen for him.
In fact, I'd say that the rats can't deal with the crocs, so you'd need something to handle them. The eagles won't be able to kill the VIP very quickly at all. Presumably the human can use the rifle as a defensive staff/club to deal with eagles.

  • Ron Miel
    Ron Miel 9 days ago

If you happen to start on a remote rocky island you just need eagles. The crocs can't climb and the rest would drown.

  • Meshakhad
    Meshakhad 9 days ago

Given that the human is apparently a hunter, I’d pick them along with the rats. Human hunters have high stealth, especially against sight-based classes like eagles. I wouldn’t count on the eagles to be able to take down the human before he takes down the VIP, and he’d be a hard counter against most of the others.

I dunno man, the rats may be able to overpower everything due to their sheer number but most rat mains I've encountered are rather cowardly. The lion's roar ability has a high intimidation factor enough to break their will and rout their numbers thus eliminating the rat group. The wolves might also fall prey to the roar. While they might not retreat, they would receive a massive fear debuff along with most of the high int players except the humans. Now for this I suggest taking the human. The fear debuff will cause the other players to hesitate thus giving the human more time to fire his deadly rounds and, if the situation allows it, the human (which seems to be from the hunter archetype) may be able to lay some traps to assist the lions in taking down the lower int players.

I feel there are two viable options. Human and eagles or rats and eagles. The eagles would easily grief the rats and make it near impossible for them to get close as they would take out multiple at a time and each would need to take out 200 which is not many especially if the rats are also having to search for the vip. The human could then focus on the others and could easily pick them off one by one. The only issue would be the wolves and even then the eagles should be able to grief them fairly easily.

I know I’m late to this but it’s new to me.
Just need the human and the eagles. Assuming we have access to mid level human perks/abilities you would simply need a flamethrower. Cover the ground in a way that the slow burning fuel launched from the flamethrower creates a burning barrier wide enough that land animals can’t cross it. Leave one small section open for the attacking animals to enter and as they funnel in the opening left intentionally you crispy them up something fierce. The eagles were chosen simply because they can cross over the barrier to attack from multiple directions so I’d rather not deal with them. Since they’re not needed they can just watch and provide morale support.

How much ammo does my AR human have? Because if he has unlimited ammo, then I just need 25 eagles to carry a tree branch with me on it and 25 to carry my AR human... Then my AR human can just kill everyone including the rats from the sky while I sleep on my flying branch lol... If the eagles need a rest then we can just fly away and neither the rats nor anyone would ever catch up... Rest for 8 hours and then we go back to the battlefield to kill everyone else hahah
