Not available to the public.. M/LE only. 300 Blackout has become an inside joke to its own community.
Anyone interested in getting into 300 Blackout should do some research: you will pay $1 a round for ammo and
reloading components are still impossible to find after nearly 3 years. Caveat Emptor.

+The Wound Channel 300BLK IS available commercially. Most major manufacturers are supporting it, as the SAAMI specs are available to them.

+Dave Smith I come to find folks that say something sucks and gives little facts as to why, tend to be talking of there own opinion and not any actual true data. That are they are basing it off very old data. Yes each rounds going to cost me a bit more than a 5.56 to reload, but I can use the same bullets I use in my 30-06 reloads (150gr) so it's not like I"m going out of my norm to purchase and make something different just for range shooting. If you have enough cases all ready made, than you don't have to spend as much time cutting down 5.56 cases for your reloads. It's not like I"m going to stock pile 5000 rounds for the SHTF moment. Can't carry that much round so I don't need to have that high of a count. If your like me and live in brush country where most my shots will be 100 yds are shorter than the 300 BLK is a very effective round super sonic or even subsonic if suppressed. Each have there uses and the platform performs well under 200 yds for both. Making it a very good urban/CQB round. All with just the switch of mags on your gun.

+undecided I am not like most shooters in that this isn't just a hobby as it is like a part time job. I don't load just for myself but others. We used up that case of 15,000 a long time ago.
EDIT: Also, there is very little recent research on the viability of lead free primers. You may be looking at some old DOD report (2012?) which was poor in experimental design, and even then the results indicated a very low correlation between the variables. I wouldn't hesitate to buy lead free again, but most of the time they are too expensive to begin with, so very few people actually have real world experience with them. Most of the problems reloaders come to be about primer problems are due to poor storage, or seating (either due to [really] dirty or out of spec pockets or short-stroking the press).

That sounds great for you, since you're so heavy into reloading. While I have a single stage press and I reload some stuff I do not see the benefit from 300blk to go through all the work to cut/ream/deburr etc brass.
If the ammunition is not available commercially then it really doesn't apply to most shooters. Period.
300blk is sitting right about 50 cents a round online for the cheap stuff, NOT subsonic. Which is the big appeal of the round. The cheapest subsonic is about $1 a round. And that is only ordering online, I live in a gun friendly area with lots of LGS and 300blk is never around and when it is it is way over $2/rd. Also 30 cal bullets can be cheap but rarely are the heavy ones needed for subsonic loads.

Price aside, it just doesn't do anything that I need it to do. By the time you make it subsonic it performs like a bad pistol round, and supersonic (to me) is pointless, I would MUCH rather have the devastating effects of the 5.56 velocity or simply shoot a 308 out of a light gun like an M&P10. Plus 308 is cheaper.
Is it neat? Different? Interesting? Sure.
Is it practical or useful for 98% of recreational shooters? No way.

This is correct. This is why some plates are rated as "standalone" (that is, they have a backer that catches spalls) or those that are required to be used in conjunction with soft armor (to catch the spalls). This can be from the bullet shattering or the plate shattering/fragmenting.

Oh, so you catch shrap from the bullet shattering? That is pretty nasty. Thanks for the info.

@weaponeer Actually, I have seen 300 win mag pop right through SAPI , and ESAPI and Titanium trauma carry plate. Sure the 308 / 7.62 and the 7.62x39 did not penetrate, but stock 300 Mag did. No need for 50 BMG or 338 Lapua to penetrate body armor plate all You need is a 'high' velocity larger magnum rifle round approx 7mm or larger If You get a chest hit by a typical 308 to Your SAPI plate You will knocked out & be out of commission for the length of the fire fight

@btmmiller - even regular lead ball fmj will go through a car, the steel used in car panels is much softer than armor plating.

Are these safe to run through a brake or can? IIRC the larger SLAP and Remington's "Accelerator" round are a big no-no on use with cans.

    ...1) that's what she said....
    2) neat ammo. Interesting derivations from the original idea of a subsonic load with 7.62x39 energy out of a ar platform. Makes me want to build something in blackout even more.
    3) just realized I forgot my urge to make sabot loads for the cz-52...my wallet hates you ;)
