Chickens will eat mice also. Call the chickens and dump the mice in the middle of the flock.

Peanut oil smells like peanuts, and mice love peanuts. The oil acts as bait and trap all in one.

The MOST humane thing to do, would be to return them to nature. When I catch them, I take them into the woods and release them. There, they stand a fair chance of survival and, the other animals that eat them do as well. Circle of life.

I'm amazed that the later mice could see the ones that went before them struggling, and they still went in. Do you have to wash off the oil before letting them go in the wild somewhere, or can you just set them free and let the oil come off on its own?
Edited to add update: I have since tried this, and it worked. And the answer is yes, you need to wash the oil off of them before releasing them. I'm very thankful that this video includes how he washed them, because otherwise I would have been completely lost.
