Smithy98 Okay. BTS is made up of 7 incredible artists that are all extremely diverse in their talents. This song is not the only thing they do as you can see in the VERY DIFFERENT performance I’ll link here (starts at 1:18, the you can ignore the intro) ->

@john d They were simply answering Colbert's question about if they had a favorite Beatle song and they responded with the na na na na part of Hey Jude. They didn't steal anything

      john d BTS: Spring Day.
Song about missing loved ones, but also criticising the past Korean government for the Sewol Ferry disaster that claimed over 300 lives, mostly school children. Extremely valued by the Korean general public because it is almost an embodiment of a feeling that they call Han. The song has been on the charts non stop since 2016.

I bet not one of these guys can play a musical instrument.
And you have a lot of nerve comparing them to a real band like the beatles.

    • ‘Myrthe
      ‘Myrthe Day ago

David Oh yes, I agree with you. They definitely are more successors to MJ. The Beatles were a band totally focused on they music and lyrics. Which is totally fine of course, but MJ and BTS are more, like you said a whole package. They ALSO focus on the music and lyrics, their music is very complex and experimental in some places, their lyrics are clever and intricate. And on top of that they are more than incredible performers. They literally live and breath music and art.
That’s why I said that I find it weird when people compare them to the Beatles who were active in a very different era and are just very different artists. What I meant to say was that I do see similarities in the phenomenon that is the Beatles and BTS. They both are contributing A LOT to the music scene in their time. Maybe I should have been clearer about that 🤔
OP asked others to comment songs that are ‘better’ than Beatles songs. But I think that’s a bullshit question because OP already decided that the Beatles are better. So no matter if we recommend songs that are perhaps lyrically more complex (I’m thinking about Outro: Tear, Do You, DDAENG, Dionysus, Spring Day, etc.) or are musically more intricate (Idol, Fake Love, A Brand New Day, The Last, DDAENG again etc.) they will just dismiss them anyway because they have their opinion set.

    • David
      David Day ago

@john d if these songs are so good...try to make any teenagers living now to listen to these songs in their original form and see if these songs will get any traction with them....I guess not! I do not disagree Beattles have trememdous influence in music history but to say they are objectively better than the latest and greatest in pop music now is completely delusional...Tell me are most thing better now than 50 years ago? Look at your phone and you will know the answer. It is not completely different even in pop music...things evolve and they get get over it!

    • David
      David Day ago

@‘Myrthe I dont even care if BTS cant play any muscial intruments...they r still way superior than the Beattles in terms of the whole package. They have to there anything that is actually better 50 years ago than now? By the way I think BTS is more a successor of Michael Jackson than Beattles. And I also think MJ is superior than Beattles as music evolves over time, just as BTS is superior than MJ and Beattles from just a objective point of view. Things evolve and get better over time and pop music is no different. The only way you can claim Beattle is better than BTS is for historical reason, ie they have more impact than BTS etc...but that is for history to judge

    • ‘Myrthe
      ‘Myrthe Day ago +1

Why are you even comparing a band with a group like BTS? Most of the members know how to play instruments, piano, saxophone and guitar to be exact. And how do you expect them to play an instrument while dancing at the same time?
BTS and the Beatles are more similar than you might think. Both breaking all kinds of barriers, both record breakers, both a huge global following, both being experimental in their music, both making social critical music.
You ask us to name songs that are better than some Beatles songs, but whatever we will come up with, you’ll still dismiss them because you think BTS is crap.
I’ll link some songs anyway. Not to say they are better or worse, but just to show you what BTS is beyond ‘Boy With Luv’
      -‘Outro: Tear’ ->
-‘Am I Wrong?’ (criticising the South Korean government) ->
-‘Baepsae’ (talking about the generational gap) ->
-‘No More Dream’ (talking about dreams and pressure on the South Korean youth) ->
-‘The Last’ (this song is about Suga’s depression and anxiety, this is a topic that is taboo to talk about in South Korea [as it still is in many countries]) ->
And this performance for you to check out ->
Edit: I do not in any way want to say that I think the Beatles are bad (like some other commenters have said). I personally like the Beatles, have grown up with them and know their importance in music history. I wish you would give BTS a chance, or at the very least stop commenting degrading comments here just because you know nothing about them. The members have said multiple times they don’t aim to be the Beatles. BTS is BTS with their own history and their own story to tell.

It’s a little sad that some people don’t recognize this stage as a remake of a stage the Beatles preformed in and also the drum on top where Ringo would play and of course the format the letters bts are in are the same as the Beatles anyways bts is adorable and this is cute how they did this performance
