  • Can Twitter be saved? In a wide-ranging conversation with TED's Chris Anderson and Whitney Pennington Rodgers, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey discusses the future of the platform -- acknowledging problems with harassment and moderation and proposing some fundamental changes that he hopes will encourage healthy, respectful conversations. "Are we actually delivering something that people value every single day?" Dorsey asks.

migrate Twitter into a decentralized blockchain model, each user must have personal addresses, real identifying photos, yup 0 privacy. Suddenly you'll see how that sane majority of humans tread more lightly, the bots will disappear deflating around 40% of twitter user base. Sanity will ensue.
The only minus would be for Dorsey to forgo control, revenue will be only there to allow the system to pay for itself, ultimately, Dorsey would need to learn JS and go interview.

Twitter suspends, lock peoples accounts for nothing, then they ask for the persons phone number to unlock it.
Maybe, for doing something so underhanded as that, twitter should be lost forever. They are stopping free speech in USA.
In 2012,13,14, Twitter didn't require a phone number to open an account, now they are, and its tied to their super computer.
We don't have these Corp CEO's personal phone numbers, why should we give them ours.
But what makes me madd is that they are lying, saying people are using automation and conducting suspicious activity, defaming peoples character, and denying authors world wide access to their copywritten material per copyright law.
Then they put in the email if you have multiple offences your account could be banned permanently.
There is no defense to automation or suspicious activity false accusations, it would take a forensic technology expert to gather
information proving a person didn't participate in those allegations.
You say automation and suspicious activity when its just a vpn and thats not illegal or suspicious.
Do a search for vpns there are many legit companies.
Tired of twitter locking / suspending my accounts for nothing.

Because of all the censorship and banning in platforms like RUclip and Twitter, competitors will pop up that will accept only the ideas that said platforms don't accept and want; and that will just create a self jerking circle that will inevitably decrease civility!

Putting morality and the biases of them aside they may have to do what users want because they will lose money if they keep going on this self-destroying route!

Twitter could remove its alt-right, pro-Tulsi, pro-Burma head (Jack) who supports its Nazis and pro-Assad goons. That would be the only way to fix twitter. Users complain and complain to no avail about abusive users who constantly post anti-semitic content and claim all muslims are terrorists who need to be killed and you have to ask what Jack's threshhold for "abuse" really is and why. He incubated an environment for Kremlin trolls to take over.

The black lady is apparently just there so she can speak for all black women and complain about people are disagreeing with her and she calls it “harassment”. Somehow the word “Disagreement” has become “harassment” in the nuspeak language.

If you don’t like “harassment” then block people, or turn it off. Your answer of censorship helps no one.

I'm halfway through and I don't hear any dodging of questions. It sounds like Twitter is working through some logic that their engineers can apply to make Twitter a safer place. That's important for us to know because when start seeing the changes they're making, we're going to want to know if we agree with the logic behind it. Monitoring and acting on qualitative data, without bias, has to be a very difficult thing.

This idea of Healthy conversation scares me. Who decides what is healthy? People talking about only Liberal ideas? Are those views considered healthy. Is conservative views defined as unhealthy. Is any criticism considered unhealthy? Challenging someone's Ideas considered unhealthy?

  • Brian Cananzey
    Brian Cananzey 2 months ago

What twitter needs to do is admit they are not a news outfit and it's not their Job to control narrative or decide what opinions are good or Bad. Harassment is simple to identify, repetitive and threatening speech. People are so sensative now that any criticism is identified as harassment. Try this, "The opinions posted by our users are not the opinions of Twitter". We do not accept responsibility for anyone's content. If you feel you are being harassed file a complaint and we will look into it and contact the accused for their defence. Everyone has a right to their opinion and disagreeing with them is not harassment or discriminatory. Create a list of simple obvious words that have no place in public discourse like the "N" word for instance. The larger that list becomes the more likely it becomes that Twitter is silencing opinions they don't like ie. Conservative!
Also, Taking action to prevent effects on an Election can have an effect on an election. Barack Obama used Facebook and Twitter to win his presidency, that was no Problem but when the Trump campaign used similar tactic to win it became an issue. We need some consistency and fairness.
Plus people do not go to Twitter to have their mind changed. give people more credit. It is the responsibility of the individual to seek truth by researching the facts. Anyone who reads a fake headline and is not skeptical is a fool.
