Hi there! For really bad stains and messes it is fine to use Leather Cleaner at full strength but for light jobs dilute 6:1.

    • Walker Morales
      Walker Morales 2 months ago

The Breach Detailing you might be conditioning it too often or using too much, when I first used it the leather seamed to just suck all the stuff up pretty quickly, or you might have to buff it out more
Edit: I would also assume that the leather cleaner would probably work fairly well to wash out excess product

Great tips, and it all made a lot of sense, but I’m left with one question. What should I use to wipe down the leather in between annual detailing? The leather cleaner you used in step 1? Warm soap and water? Plain water? I don’t want to inadvertently nullify the benefits of the conditioner and serum in between detailing.

What about a 14 year old car? Will it help them if they have never been cared for? Also I heard some people use linseed oil. What is your opinion on that?

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago +1

Hi Ethan! Good question. We recommend doing the full leather treatment using Leather Cleaner, Leather Conditioner and Leather Protectant Serum. Leather Cleaner penetrates pores of leather to lift and suspend dirt and oils, also its a pH- balanced formula that won't stain leather or change the texture. Leather Conditioner is blended with Vitamin E and Aloe to moisturize and nourish your leather. It will also condition and restore your leather surfaces to a certain extent. Leather Protectant Serum protects leather against UV sunlight, fading, cracking and staining up to 16 months. These three steps will help you restore your leather to its best. Thanks for watching and thanks for being part of the Chemical Guys family! Happy detailing!

hi great video, would this work better then mothers all purpose cleaner on leather seats before applying conditioner? thanks

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago +2

Hi Jose, how's it going? Leather Cleaner is the only pH-balanced cleaner that is going to gently clean your leather without staining it or changing the texture. It leaves no crusty residues and will not deteriorate stitching. While some cheaper all purpose cleaners may claim to be safe to use on leather, we prefer not to take the chance. Use leather products on leather, and the APC on everything else. It's simply not worth the risk and if you're going to buy the Leather Conditioner for $16.99 anyway, there's no reason to not spend the extra $3 and get the kit that contains the Leather Cleaner too for the peace of mind. Thanks for watching Jose and stay tuned for a new video launching later today!

I used this product on my black leather seats with the microfiber pad but I didn't wipe the excess conditioner because it wasn't shiny enough for me. About 2 days later after a heatwave I started noticing some white streaks going across the leather and when I wipe them with water they somewhat fade away but when it dries it comes back. Freaking out now.

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago

Hey Chris, please always use any detailing product as instructed. Leather Conditioner has a matte finish, so if you are looking for a shiny finish, use the correct product. We recommend re-cleaning your seats with Leather Cleaner to remove that excess Conditioner. Thanks for being a part of the CG family, Chris, and if you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact our customer service department at 310-674-8135. Thanks!

Thanks for the video. I just spent a lot of mulah on your products. When I applied the conditioner I think I overapplied and it was very hot when I did this. I did not clean post condition to pick up excess. My concern is it looks spotty now

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago +2

Hi! You definitely don't want to forget the last step of buffing off the excess. Try buffing off the excess conditioner now with a clean microfiber towel. If that doesn't do anything, simply reclean the seat with Leather Cleaner, and then recondition it. To avoid applying too much conditioner, apply the conditioner to the applicator pad, rather than directly to the seat as done in the video. In general, we always recommend detailing your car indoors or in the shade, when surfaces are cool to the touch. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for a new video headed your way later today!

Chemical Guys The video shows 3 steps; clearner, then conditioner, then as an added step to protect from UV, the serum. Just trying to understand the steps also as I’m new to caring about the leather in my car.

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago

Serum first, conditioner second. You use an applicator for the leather serum and conditioner. The brush is meant to be paired with the leather cleaner to remove surface stains, body oils, and anything that can get smeared on the leather. You can use the leather cleaner in two ways: 1) You can spray the leather directly and agitate the solution with the brush we recommended. 2) Or you can spray the Leather Cleaner into a microfiber towel and gently rub that into your seats.
With the Leather Serum, you should squirt a line of the product into the applicator and spread it out along your seats. You can also apply the Serum or Conditioner with a towel.

    • ChedderEder
      ChedderEder Year ago

      Chemical Guys Thank you!
Does it matter if I put the conditioner before the Serum or after the Serum?

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago

Start out with the leather cleaner and remove any body oils. Apply some of the leather Serum, and the leather conditioner to give your leather an extended life span. Remember that leather is derived from from animal hide, it needs to be nourished and hydrated, otherwise wear and tear is going to claim your seats.

Hi Jason, from what I've read online, it tends to happen with new jeans. Well washed and worn jeans probably won't transfer. I would probably use a soft blanket, or wear different types of pants lol. We have this same issue because we sit on white leather seats, and jeans are the preferred pants of choice.

Why would I use the leather clean instead of the other interior product you guys make?

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  Year ago

It's a dedicated leather product so you know that it will get the job done, and it's a deeper clean as well. The Other interior products are considered quick detail sprays, meaning they clean up light dust, minor spills, and general clean up. Most of the Interior cleaners have been diluted accordingly to prevent accidental damage. The leather Cleaner has small amounts of vitamin E which helps to clean and nourish leather before you apply a serum or conditioner. Picture this, you want to clean your leather, but you don't have the leather cleaner, you grab Total Interior, or Inner Clean and you spray down the leather for a quick cleaning job. Lets say that you want to coat the seats with the conditioner or the serum, you'd want to clean the seats first with the cleaner to remove any body oils and sweat. The cleaner the seats are, the easier it will be for the serum or conditioner to bond to the leather.

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  2 years ago

Hi Saahir, thanks for watching. I recommend using Inner Clean, Total Interior, or Nonsense. The conditioner will most likely leave a residue on your dash, and the leather cleaner is designed to clean leather. You don't want to take the risk of altering the dashboard, stick with the interior detail products.

Hi buddy, thank you for reaching out to us. Avoid using the serum, or conditioner on the stitching because it could stain the threads. I say to be safe, use a the products on the leather only, be cautious to use the applicator, or use the products on a towel.

    • Chemical Guys
      Chemical Guys  2 years ago

Hi there, thanks for watching this awesome video. When applying the leather conditioner or the serum, you'll want to let it sit for a minute or two before buffing it off with a microfiber towel. I usually apply the conditioner to the entire seat, front to back, and I grab my towel, and buff the excess so that none of it gets on my clothes.

    • Chemical Guys
Chemical Guys  2 years ago +2

Hi Brandon, the leather serum creates a barrier, it's not an airtight barrier like plastic wrap, or vacuum sealing. The leather serum will absorb into the seats, and will last for 3-6 weeks before you have to apply it again. The sun will eventually break down the protectants over time, as well as the sweat in your body, and general wear and tear. Remember that leather is dyed and preserved cow skin. Leather has pores, and it will absorb whatever you put into it.
