what's better between Fujifilm 50mm f2 and the voigtlander 58mm? thanks

  • doblebo
    doblebo 14 days ago +1

great lens, but i'm honestly more floored by the 21mm f1.8 ultron which you recommended. probably more of a subjective thing due to the focal length. the voigtlander 50mm f1.5 nokton aspherical is also up there with this one imo. all of these lenses put my other ones forever in hibernation never to see the light of day - goes without saying... but my point is that i think we're all eager for an updated voigtlander lens comparison/review from you that puts them all in perspective

Fletch Fay i was in the same position & just ended up getting both. The 1.4 is more vintage leica rendering, the 1.2 is just insane. Literally insane. Its incredibly sharp & amazingly built.

I bought your 3 voigtlander recommendations really appreciate your feedback on close up I received with 40 voigtlander what the hell is this , need help ken, these 3 do look at a quality level beyond all the nikon must haves I bought they all great quality but the voigtlanders look special as you said

  • Robertw
    Robertw 11 months ago

Ken question I bought 3 of the voigtlander you recommended the 40 came with a close up filter maybe not referred to a filter I was surprised and as a novice does this make it a closer focus like a macro and came with a tiny hood not like a typical hood screws on but wrong direction your biggest fan a bit lost on the ad ons the 40 is small like the pancake nikons

  • Robertw
    Robertw 11 months ago

I think you said the 20 and 28 voigtlander not being made anymore I have 20 and 58 is 28 the one to get because of discontinuing making or get the 40 you strongly recommend?

@TheoriaApophasis real question sir... If you HAD to pick one over the other. Voigtlander 40mm 1.2 or Voigtlander 50mm 1.2?? I know you HIGHLY praised the 40mm, but also said the 50mm 1.2 is the BEST 50mm?

  • W. Scholz

Lenses like that give you very different results in combination with different cameras and sensors.
I have just testet the differences between Sony A7 r III / Leica M.

  • David Moreno Belmonte

@Theoria Apophasis In between Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 NOKTON vs Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 NOKTON vs Voigtlander 35mm f1.2 NOKTON ASP II? which one? not money issues here, compared in terms of sharpness, color, render etc....

      David Moreno Belmonte Year ago

@Theoria Apophasis ok noted with many thanks. Now...
      1. Voigtlander 40mm f1.2 NOKTON vs Zeiss Distagon 35mm f2?
      2. Voigtlander 50mm f1.2 NOKTON vs Contax Zeiss 50mm f1.4 MMJ?
      3. And what do you think of Voigtlander 25mm f0.95 NOKTON??? can't find a re view from you.

I have a stupid question. It’s an M mount lens that you adapted to test on a Fuji. If I was going to buy this lens to use with a Leica, can I take your review as it is? Meaning whatever the pros and cons will still be valid if I use these lens on a Leica M?

How do you compare the look of voightlander with other lenses?

  • Gustavo Ibarra
    Gustavo Ibarra Year ago +1

Indeed, as soon as you go 1.4, bye bye rounded "bolas", I got the 7 artisan 50 mm 1.1 (yes, sorry for that) and isn't sharp, corner, bla bla bla,...but....from 1.2 and up always keep rounded bolas. The question is, the 50 mm 1.2, work in the same manner? or keep the bokeh constantly rounded? Please a test about that.

Hey, what are your thoughts on the Voigtlander 110mm F/2.5?

  • A R
    A R Year ago

Focus throw is insanly (!) short on this lens in the "mid-range" 2m-10m. Nobody criticizes this (but me).
When focustravel/throw is above-average long : than it is usually, -in most reviews wanting to be serious- praised a lot.! It is for sure not normal to never point this out this truely odd, rare particularity of this lens in this respect (at f1.2 of even more questonable impact!!)
I find it equally strange that nobody ever questions wether it would have been advantuous Voightlander had (simply?) implemented rounded insread of strait blades... Is this à stupid remark?
( Also hardly ever mentioned : Resoults do need chromatic aberation correction - witch however can work verry well.).
Just odd nobody ever comes up with these points.

    • Tyrone So

Fair enough. Might I throw this in instead? MITAKON 35mm f0.95 I'm trying to decide on manual lens for my x-h1. Having fun with the focus highlighting right now. Price isn't a factor I consider between the two, if one is just that much better, it's worth it to me.

Which other 40mm lens are among the best in terms of color rendition and pop effect (closest to the zeiss distagon series)? I intend to use the 40mm on a fullframe canon dslr (5D mark iii). I don't like the canon 40mm f2.8 STM.

Ken, just based on performance (not worrying about cost or lack of AF) how would you compare this to a native Fuji lens such as the 35mm f1.4? I have never tried an adapted lens on Fuji yet.

    The big questions is ..........
    $999 for the Voigtlander 40mm 1.2
$800 for the Zeiss 35mm 1.4 (wich u told is your BEST lens)
    $300 for the Nikkor 35mm 2.0 (Your budget best 35 Recom) ????????????????
wich one really worth the money ?

Woodpecker lips haha. That's great. Have two questions (sony e-mount focused); bit amateur in nature, but... QUESTION 1: How are they able to make a 40mm 1.2 this tiny compared to Sony's 50mm 1.4 G series lens - which is huge?! Is it because of the autofocus system? I mean this thing is beautiful. QUESTION 2: Do you think there's a big difference in image quality between getting the 40mm E mount version, or waiting to get the 50mm version which would require an adapter to e-mount? Thx for any advice you can give!

I bought this lens and rayqual adapter for my Fuji X Pro2. You are correct. This is an amazing lens. I have been making some amazing B&W photos with the Acros filim simulation. The contrast is amazing. I don't typically pixel peep, but I will spend several minutes pouring over the image on the screen in amazement. When I use this combination in bright sunlit conditions though, I notice that the image through the EVF is so dim that I can't see/use the focus peaking. Have you experienced this? Thanks for the great vids.
