When have you been to Panama (month)?

  • Manuel Nunez

Good and very accurate summary. As a local I can vouch for the veracity.
    My 5 tips for visitors
    1. Sun Season is from Jan to March
    2. We have Uber (in Panama City)
    3. We have a Metro
    4. Bocas del Toro is around 1 hour flight from Panama City, 7hrs by car
    5. Pearl Islands and Contadora are in Panama Bay very close to Panama City.

Great video. A beautiful place. A tip from a resident...avoid local taxis and driving (traffic laws are not really enforced as a result Panama has some of the worst driving in LATAM). In the city UBER/Cabify are a must. Take a bus or tour if you need to move well beyond the city.
A few spots missing worth pointing out. The Panama Canal museum, the Biomuseum, the Amador Causeay, Anton Valley, The Gamboa resort, and Darien (Outdoor enthusiasts only).

Time to go back to Panama... January 2000 seems like a long time ago.
Much has changed, the city looks amazing and Casco Viejo is being restored.
Of course, Contadora Island... time to take my gear off again at Playa de las Suecas (hope my current GF is OK with that, LOL).

Thanks for the awesome video. Never heard of some of those places before and I grew up in Panama. BTW Casco Viejo is not “old Panama” (Panama Viejo), that is the site of the ruins of the first city, which was destroyed by Morgan. Casco Viejo is were the city was relocated after the sacking.

There are really nice parts of Panama City and there are some not so nice parts. Rio Abajo, the "Hollywood" old military housing area, and now probably J Street are parts you might want to avoid without an armed escort.

you guys were really spot on but if you want go do something in the city you should definitely go to multiplaza,i have literally visited a ton of different malls around the world and multiplaza is still the best one ,they have activities every single day and also every store you could want in a mall also you could do the escape rooms or visit the costa del este small music festivals, panama is definitely not a third world country.

Hi guys, i see you have some drone videos, i am going to panama next week, did you have to get some permistion to use the drone in Panama? or did you have any restrictions to use it in some places?

    • fanfare100
      fanfare100 Month ago

Panama is extremely laid back. In many respects it's libertarian dream. Laws are enforced as a matter of common sense. Like, if you fly a drone near an airport, prepare to get into trouble. But just about anywhere else, nobody cares, so enjoy.

I don't know what is it with describing countries as 1st, 2nd or 3rd world. You have places here in the US that might as well have that label. Get over it already. I think you need to visit more of your own country, see the places are worst than 3rd world country then go out and you'll realize that your great country is not so 1st world after all.

Lived in Panama from 68 til 74. Went to school at Instatuto de Pedagohio (spelled wrong). Visited once in 78 since then.
I would guess 99% of the people in the world dont realize, the term "3rd world" is more a political classification than an economic one.
Looking forward to my next visit.
PS im not offended, cuz im not an SJW pussy, but mentioning a country's economic situation may not be necessary......IMO.....when introducing one friend to another i dont mention their economics, religion or race....just me.

Developed countries are the ones that have greatly polluted this earth. Third world countries according to popular consensus means underdeveloped thus not really partaking in the pollution of this planet called earth in a major way. Please let us remain as such and when you can't breathe the air in your sophisticated developed countries anymore please stay there!!!

Everything you mention is wonderful and true but you really never left the tree major tourist traps which are very much alike. There is so much more to Panama that you never got near showing. I am in my 6th year as an expat and I would say you did a good job talking about half of what Panama has to offer. I prefer the provinces where I live, to the cities that I usually avoid.
