In the futuristic action thriller Looper, time travel will be invented - but it will be illegal and only available on the black market. When the mob wants to get rid of someone, they will send their target 30 years into the past where a “looper” - a hired gun, like Joe (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) - is waiting to mop up. Joe is getting rich and life is good…until the day the mob decides to “close the loop,” sending back Joe’s future self (Bruce Willis) for assassination. The film is written and directed by Rian Johnson and also stars Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, and Jeff Daniels.

I don't understand the comments that call this movie "underrated". The film grossed $20,801,522 in its opening weekend. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a rating of 93% and most critics gave it a 5 out of 5 and glowing reviews. Doesn't sound underrated to me.

OMG this movie is sick!! I stopped thinking about it because it burned my brains! I still don't clearly understand this. It's mind-blowing. Predestination is easier to understand but this!! Anyways I like the way the titles shows up, the bgm and O splitting in twos..that gave me chills lol.
Wouldn’t if you go back still exist? You just kill the future you, but younger you goes on to do whatever. Potentially a giant loop.

Anyone bothered by the obvious paradox of the movie? You couldn't send back a looper to be killed by themselves in the past. You've already sent that looper back. Duh .. .Rian Johnson.

I don’t understand. The future people send people to the past to be killed but how are there people in the past to kill people? Do the loopers go back in time in order to kill the targets they sent back in time?
