    Double edge sword.
    We want low prices.
    We want livable wages.
I liked when he said the shoppers actually get a pay raise to shop there.
That’s where Amazon has a huge edge.
    No brick and mortar operation.

Check out the videos on RUclip about Walmarts clearance section. Grab something anything then compare it to the same item on the shelf in it's regular area. The one video shows the prices are the same for the same item in it's isle area. So when people are seeing it marked as reduced they will buy that item thinking it is reduced and they will save money. The reduced label is misleading because it really is not reduced. Some would see this as trickery or deceitful tactics to sell more and make more money. If a company goes to that extent to deceiving it's customers society what amount of respect does that exhibit towards their customers? Smh

I don't know why everyone tries to make this so complicated. You only have to change one thing to pay people a wage that keeps up with their costs and environment. Walmart earns $150 a month, prophet! In other words they've overcharge their customers 150 million dollars a month. So the question is how much pure profit is reasonable, weight against paying people that made that profit happen a wage that is nearly useless. Somehow the owners of Walmart couldn't get by on $50 a month prophet?

8.23 adjusted for inflation is around 12.62 in 2019 from 1999, At 12.62 x 39 hours x 2 weeks it would be around 984.36 a pay check or 23,624.64$ before taxes which is doable. If you have full-time and work your way up, you could easily at the same time get 1009.60$ at the same rate but lets give 5 more hours of OT, which would be 94.65 x 2 = 189.30$, which leads to an increase of 28,773.60 a year.

They take advantage of workers by not letting anyone ,except managers ,work full time ,if they hire young and old and only let them have 19 hrs a week they are considered part time employees, so they don't have to provide benefits ,if you get hurt ,you have to see a company paid Doctor that says your not injured that is just a bruise or sprain ,and even if your seriously hurt ,you have to pay to see another Dr.and the company doctor will defend his prognosis and your wrong plus they will fire you or just let you work 1or2 days a week

There is something walmart can do to fix its problem given that the data shows that its profits are not more than $15 billion compared to the $485 billion out of $500 billion revenue that they actually pay. So they are in a tight spot. But if they invest in a lighting upgrade in their stores to remove the long lines of lights wasting electricity and provide lights for each aisle individually as LED, they could save on their electric bill just enough to provide better pay for workers.

Fast forward to 2018-2019. Walmart is no longer the lowest price winner. They are average and have stopped a lot of competitive price benefits. They no longer price match. They are questioning habitual return customers. They keep records not of who returns a lot of merchandise and they will ban you if you abuse the policy. No discounts. There's no such thing as a discount lunch.
Walmart actually isn't the cheapest option. What they do, and people don't realise this, is they offer and advertise certain items at significant discounts but charge 20% or more for most other items. Because nobody goes to the store to buy only soup or only a certain kind of tshirt.
So even though you paid $10 less for those "rollback" items, you spent an extra $20 on your groceries overall. Meaning you aren't saving money.
True story, I was wondering why my grocery bill seemed higher after I started shopping at Walmart instead of my local grocery store. So I did some research. I went to both Meijer, Walmart and locally owned grocery store and shopped for the same kind of items I normally would have bought. As it turned out, Walmart was the most expensive option. Whereas I was spending $80 at meijer, at Walmart, the same stuff cost me $120. I even changed up the items just for comparison's sake, buying respective items that were on sale. And Walmart was still the most expensive.

    • wade5941
      wade5941 2 months ago

Agreed. There are very few items that I purchase at walmart over my local grocer. They are items that are significantly cheaper than other places. One example is the Great Value French Roast Kcups coffee (48/96 count). About half the cost of online or local grocer. 90% of my groceries are from local grocer.
