paying low wages only enables employees to get food stamps and medicaid which is taxpayer funded. this shifts the cost of life's necessities on to the american taxpayers. this is really simple to understand yet people never talk about it. when these companies pay low wages everyone else in america picks up the filthy rich peoples slack. someone please prove me wrong................please!!!!

Wal Mart was good before Sam Walton died. His heirs care only about how much money it makes for them.

Still, it's not a place to have a future UNLESS you want to go into management. The average job requires no special job skills, so there's no incentive to make a career out of working there if you don't go into management. This is true with any retail chain.

For every job Wal-Mart "creates" it KILLS an average of 2.5 small business jobs. Wal-Mart has been Bottlenecking it's competition for decades. You don't have a healthy economy from corporatists stamping out all of it's competition start-ups before they can even compete fairly. A good capitalist economy comes from healthy competition and enough jobs available to provide for more people to be able to consume more.

The only thing I do not like about john stossel is that he does not believe in environmentalism. The earth is a big place, that's right. But 7.5 billion is a humongous number of people. There is nothing in our lizard brains that says "STOP CONSUMING so much, or all of our resources will be depleted and we will trash this planet" because that is not something that typically happens. It's not just 7 billion normal animals either. If we lived like cavemen, we would only consume 9 000 000 joules a day.The average household consumes 30 kilowatt hours which means about a constant usage of 1200 watts. Combine that with the resources and energy that industries use, we are consuming an incredible amount of energy which is used to completely alter our environment. If you are to divide landmass of the earth evenly among 7 billion people, each person would get 1 hectare. The earths resources don't seem so limitless anymore do they?

Facing the Truth: Conspiracy or Plan? 100 Years of Subversive Psychological Warfare Against America
America is facing a genuine Constitutional crisis. This crisis revolves around whether the US Constitution survives as the law of our nation or whether it is usurped by a hidden force of Communist subversives who have waged a secret psychological war against America for 100 years. Facing the Truth is an expository work about how the American consciousness has been intentionally tampered with through psychological manipulation leading to the preset political crisis facing the USA in 2018. This book is one of the most important presentations of information about preserving the American Republic on the eve of the 2018 midterm elections. Every American must read this book to know what is at stake in this election cycle. The preservation of America and the Constitution depends on it. This book is volume 4 of the Beyond Second Cognition series of books, but is written where it can be read standalone without requiring the previous volumes in the series.

This is a bullshit commercial. They just will not admit that this is a scam. Wal-Mart kills high paying retail. It does not teach any skills. It fires people for taking care of there family. It causes single mother to leave kids at home unattended so they do not get fired. No Wal-Mart is not a family friendly company .

If these people weren't working at Walmart they'd be doing some other low skill labor type job. If they had skills that companies require they would be making a better wage. But they don't so they're working a low paying job. That's just the facts of Life in the labor market. If politicians continue to interfere in the marketplace, forcing businesses to pay unskilled laborers higher wages, they will skew the free market in favor of labor and there will be unintended consequences. Everyone will get hurt in the long run. The businesses, the workers, and the government.

The Wal-Mart pep rally only works on kids or low IQ people. Wal-Mart is a retail store. Stocking shelves/ringing-a-register needs a living wage? The job doesn't warrant high pay. I would agree that Wal-Mart is not a favorable business to the USA. It's a funnel for Made in China goods. That is not a good thing. If anyone thinks it is, well... they need their head examined.

Walmart may not be perfect. They now pay a minimum of $11 per hour. Not bad for a "unskilled labour" job. Merchandize is cheaper than most other stores, so my money stretches further by shopping there. There are many friendly and helpful employees at Walmart. I have only come across one unfriendly one, but she came around when she learned that I was a regular customer who spends allot of money there.

This doesn’t address the larger problems with Wal Mart and companies like them.
They’re so large that smaller companies can’t compete with them and they are able to offer cheaper goods and services but their business model drives wages down forcing people to shop there so it’s a win/win for Wal Mart.
They could easily afford to pay their employees a higher salary and still make tons of money but they don’t because they don’t have to and frankly, if people made more they would shop there less because of the low quality goods you get there. I only buy a half dozen things there because of a big price difference but generally speaking I don’t like shopping there.
Smaller businesses pay higher wages so while I’m pro business I’m not pro monopoly and many big companies are holding back innovation and driving wages down and work conditions follow.
Boycotting and spreading hate doesn’t accomplish anything but finding a way to level the playing field for more competition is what does work.
When there’s more competition that means wages go up and prices go down.
They say that small businesses are the backbone of America so we need to find a way to allow for more businesses to flourish so we can get wages and work conditions to go up

  • Shawn Gunnison
    Shawn Gunnison Месяц назад

Wages have stagnated for quite a while, while worker productivity continues to rise decade after decade, which is what is pissing so many people off. Also, taxpayers don't like the idea of paying government assistance to a Wal-Mart employee that works full time. It seems like taxpayers are in effect subsidizing part of the employees wages due to low pay.
Wal-Mart and its shareholders COULD decide to sacrifice $1 or $2 billion in yearly profits in order to compensate its lower paid workers, and still turn a hefty profit ~$8-10 billion/year.
There are other businesses that somehow manage to pay their low skilled staff a decent amount and NOT go bankrupt, so why pretend Wal-Mart can't afford to pay more? *I'm not saying they should do this* ... but lets not act like Wal-Mart or other companies would necessarily implode because of pay hikes.

They are only meant for you to have a job while you try to get in the school or go to school for a better career. Pretty much every generation would renew workers into the system. But with all these people not wanting to further their career you can't do that. Now you got young people don't want to do s*** anymore

Wally ruins a towns job market with lower prices and greater selection. This creates competiton for jobs, inducing lower wages resulting in higher profit margins. Profits generate expansion into new and usually economically stable areas that have livable wages and healthy competition. In short, Wally's buisness objective is provide higher dividend payoffs for stock holders, (owners), and not to provide quality goods at compeitive prices.
