I always thought Cannibal Corpse's Devoured by Vermin sounded a little too suspiciously like the theme song from The Greatest American Hero. It sounds almost like a cover, but if not, I hope someone got their pants sued off for that one!

On the controversy surrounding "Bittersweet Symphony" and its authorship rights!

The joke is, "The Last Time" sounds nothing like "Bittersweet Symphony."

The Verve used a bit from a symphonic recording written and arranged by David Whitaker that was inspired by the Rolling Stones song, and he actually gave them permission, but that bit itself was not included in the Rolling Stones song.

It was the former Rolling Stones manager Allen Klein who stirred it and claimed that The Verve used too much. I don't think it should've been Jagger And Richards who were added to the credits, but David Whitaker, if anything.

"We were told it was going to be a 50/50 split, and then they saw how well the record was doing. They rung up and said we want 100 percent or take it out of the shops, you don't have much choice." - Simon Jones from The Verve.

To be fair, I've never liked the Stones. I've always found them to be overrated. With this part, I also lost respect for the Stones. I think any album by The Verve has more quality material than any Greatest Hits released by the Stones.

Just as I thought. The Rolling Stones didn't own their pre 1970's songs, their manager who did. Also, last year Jagger and Richards signed over all rights.

Include the Rolling Stones "Shake Your Hips" on the Exile to Main Street album 1972. They also copied John Lee Hooker "Boogie Chillen" as well as ZZ Top's Lagrange!

What all this songs have in common? Theyre not the exact same copie of another, and thats exactly what a "rip off" is. All I see is a bunch of songs that sound alike and nothing else. Exept for Led Zeppelin songs (not Stairway) where is just too obvious and the Beach Boys one. The case of Coldplay is a perfect example of how fucked up all this shit is. I mean who the fuck wrote the song? Satriani? Cat Stevens? Or that other band? None, it was Chris Martin period. And The Verve case is just wrong and ridiculous.

Rip off? Similar parts between songs?
Here are 3 songs with similar... very similar parts... I cannot explain but they sound very similar!
What do you think? Can you explain it?
    1) America (Simon and Garfunkel) from 2m56sec up to the end
    2) Don’t dream (Crowded House) between 1m46sec and 2m08sec
    3) Wider shade of pale (Procol Harum) 25 first seconds of the song

#3 is BS when the stones song isn't there's. They stole it from a black artist and the didn't want to sue, but some metal had refused to stop and now the verve has no royalties and probably suffering for depression. I hate the stones and refuses to by their music.
