“A Star is Born” stars four-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“American Sniper,” “American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook”) and multiple award-winning, Oscar-nominated music superstar Lady Gaga, in her first leading role in a major motion picture. Cooper helms the drama, marking his directorial debut.
In this new take on the tragic love story, he plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers-and falls in love with-struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer... until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.
The cast of “A Star is Born” also includes Andrew Dice Clay, with Dave Chappelle and Sam Elliott.
In addition to playing Ally, Gaga, who earned her Oscar nod for the song “Til It Happens to You” from “The Hunting Ground,” performs original songs in the film, which she wrote with Cooper and a handful of artists, including Lukas Nelson, Jason Isbell and Mark Ronson. All the music is original and was recorded live.
“A Star is Born” is produced by Bill Gerber, Jon Peters, Bradley Cooper, Todd Phillips and Lynette Howell Taylor. Ravi Mehta, Basil Iwanyk, Niija Kuykendall, Sue Kroll, Michael Rapino and Heather Parry serve as executive producers. The screenplay is by Eric Roth and Bradley Cooper & Will Fetters.
Collaborating with Cooper behind the scenes are Oscar-nominated director of photography Matthew Libatique (“Black Swan”), production designer Karen Murphy, three-time Oscar-nominated editor Jay Cassidy (“American Hustle,” “Silver Linings Playbook,” “Into the Wild”), and costume designer Erin Benach.
Warner Bros. Pictures Presents, in Association with Live Nation Productions, in Association with Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures, A Jon Peters/Bill Gerber/Joint Effort Production, “A Star is Born.” Slated for release on October 5, 2018, the film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company. It is rated R.

You know its like.....idk you...float out to sea and then one day you find a port. Say ima stay here for a few days. Few days becomes a few years. Then you forgot where you were going in the first place. Then you realize you dont really give a shit about where you were going cuz you like where you're at.

is it me or I never really see in the whole movie when he said "You know man, in the ol' days, I always knew, like, you were going to do something, that you'd be alright. It's the first time I'm worried about you."?

Narratively, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to keep it because Jack had plenty of issues before that moment, and he would seem like a bad friend not worrying about him up until now.

Just saw the film....magnificent. Please see this everyone. This is one of the best films of the year by far. Beautiful music, beautiful chemistry between cooper and Gaga. The acting was spot on, the singing and music again was out of this fucking world. Bradley cooper makes his directorial debut one of the best debuts I’ve ever seen.

I honestly can’t get this clip out of my head (mind you the movie is out now and I’ve seen it twice and it’s utterly fantastic and the whole movie has stuck with me)... but these few lines in particular have stuck with me so much cause it feels so true in my life. I’m sure many can apply it to their lives and it just hits really real

  • I have something to say

You don't need to hype me. I will watch it like 6 times at the movies, buy the soundtrack online and at the cd store, buy the movie online and at Target when it comes out, etc.

There’s something about a comedian acting in a serious role that stirs emotion in me; Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine (...) or Robin Williams in Good Will Hunting come to mind. Maybe it’s the vulnerability they allow by lowering that shield of their comedy - showing that the funny ones amongst us are maybe the ones who also feel the most.
Depending on the size of his role, I predict Chappelle will earn a Best Supporting Actor nomination.

sebass sebas some of the best actors started out as stand up comedians or were comedic actors first. Jim Carrey, Tom Hanks, Jamie Foxx, and Robin Williams. Stand up is so hard it prepares you for all types of acting i think. Just a thought.
